It's not slavery when there is no society left to judge your actions
Kiddley Oct 12, 2024 @ 6:13am
All I'm saying is that in the communist society that is a Rimworld colony where no one gets paid, there isn't much of a difference between a slave an a colonist. Now whether you wanna say that's because we treat our colonists bad or slaves good is up for debate.

@bigcool3571 the mod prison labor might fill what you are looking for
bigcool3571 Aug 10, 2023 @ 11:45am
Could you add an option to toggle both slaves and working prisoners? Many thanks, great mod btw.

"GO DO YOUR WORK!"

Sasha Pines (no brain) Jan 13, 2023 @ 7:56am
wow a way to by pass slavery eh
DickHardly Oct 25, 2022 @ 10:16am
this still compatible with 1.4?
Sarnak III Sep 3, 2022 @ 8:07pm
Ah, a oh so American sollution to an ethical conundrum. Uncle Sam wants to give you lots of money and tax cuts for helping him out.
Osttruppen Aug 29, 2022 @ 1:49am
Finally, I can roleplay as a U.S private prison.
Icarael Aug 1, 2022 @ 2:59am
I'm guessing this doesn't let you draft prisoners? Because the ability to create a Soviet-style penal battalion would be pretty cool.
Devixian-Firehawk Jul 29, 2022 @ 2:57pm
"Well that just sounds like slavery with extra steps!"
Some random dude.
AI_Oilmen Jul 28, 2022 @ 4:30pm
"Yer a Slaver, Harry" - Definitely NOT Hagrid
Kenthot Prawoso Jul 28, 2022 @ 1:39am
@Kokorocodon you need to "Discipline" them.
Kokorocodon Jul 27, 2022 @ 8:58pm
Mean pawns called me a slaver, I'm shaking and crying at hearing that. Are they lying? How should I proceed?
Macbuk Jul 27, 2022 @ 1:53pm
@Pinenuts this mod seems more lightweight than prison labor, which is incompatible with a lot of other mods and hurts performance a lot
Pinenuts Jul 27, 2022 @ 4:54am
How is it different from the mod "prison labor"? With that mod I can force prisoners for basic works and this mod does the same thing?
If so is there any difference?
Azure Jul 27, 2022 @ 2:09am
@Radixerus No, he's pretty much on point with his post about our "society" and how it works.
SatelliteDown7735 Jul 26, 2022 @ 7:43pm
@TurtleShroom that said, i give my prisoners a single barrack, give the decent ones some joywires, haly cyclers, and turn them into expendable workers for the colony. no rest, no recreation, no really care for their health regarding being shot at though if its not a pain in the ass they will be cared for medically. the ones i dont do this to you ask? oh i release them....and then instantly gun them down so i dont get a mood debuff. and that was before this mod.
SatelliteDown7735 Jul 26, 2022 @ 7:35pm
@TurtleShroom Did you know that if you manage to prove that you are innocent after being in jail YOU STILL HAVE TO SERVE THE ENTIRE SENTENCE. Pretty fucked right? i looked at the records of one guy {cant tell you who Due to NDA] he had Two 'Fair' Trials. one was before DNA was a thing that courts cared about and he was found guilty. he served 20 years then it was found out that the DNA was NOT his own OR the victims. meaning he didn't do the deed he then had a Second trial and they found him Innocent and declared the first trial a Mistrial. Last i checked. he is still in prison.
SatelliteDown7735 Jul 26, 2022 @ 7:34pm
@TurtleShroom as maximum security Correctional officer. got to say, america has THE most corrupt judges and courts in the world. im not saying there arent a lot of guilty without a shadow of a doubt, but there are also a lot of innocent that really dont seem like they should be in prison.

so Fair my Ass.
but why would there be so many innocent in jail? simple. MONEY. every single day that you spend in prison is Extra money, so if they can put you in jail, they will.

our prison system is a Flawed Mess and i have No Faith in our court system either. too many guilty are free and too many innocent are not.
ShielÐ Jul 26, 2022 @ 11:10am
My day is a little brighter whenever I see TurtleShroom get his shit pushed in on the steam workship. Maybe that basement living, Christian preaching dumbass could get a job that helps society and not live on the internet, screaming out of their NEET hole.

Fun fact; TurtleShroom is banned from almost communities related rimworld. That's why he's almost found exclusively on steam workshop pages. Because nobody want his shitty opinions :B1:

btw, good mod. I approve.
noghettoblastrs Jul 26, 2022 @ 9:37am
@TurtleShroom thank you for flexing your brainlet might!

Our laws and our juries are largely very biased and the root of a lot of "crimes" are often preventable and proven to be cheaper to solve outside of prisons. Private prison labor is too profitable and having an entire class of people under your heel does wonders for the economy.

I know you think you've got this stuff figured out because you live rent free in your parents house and your grandpa tells you you are special, but you are so out of your depth.

Social commentary mod
Fernando Jul 25, 2022 @ 3:54am
@Clab2020 It says right beside the mod description that you need Ideology.
Clab Jul 24, 2022 @ 9:52pm
Which DLC do you need to play this?
Radixerus Jul 24, 2022 @ 3:44pm
Does anyone else think adam smasher is pretentious as hell? like and subsriber if you agree
Adam Smasher™ Jul 24, 2022 @ 2:26pm
Now, script a machine, which will print worthless paper for them, you give it to them everytime they ended a working day and they are able to purchase stuff with it. But it declines in worth the more you print and you only give them enough to pay rent, taxes and food and then we call them "citizens"
Adam Smasher™ Jul 24, 2022 @ 2:24pm
I give you an award for that. This is just genius ! Slavery ended with a excellent solution.
Owen Jul 23, 2022 @ 7:39pm

@TurtleShroom

It's cute how you think that, considering your for-profit prison system, nonsense drug and wealth laws, (anti-)bodily autonomy laws, and the many abuses of police authority that can screw you "just because". Which all put as many people in prison as possible. To the benefit of, again, for-profit prisons.

These nonsense laws are paid for - sorry, "lobbied for" - by your friendly neighborhood... for-profit prisons.

Some people genuinely belong there - inasmuch as it even works as a system, since other countries with rehabilitation programs categorically proved there are better ways, which you can find out with thirty seconds on Google - but plenty of "prisoners" are bought and paid for.

Slavery is alive and well in America.
TurtleShroom Jul 22, 2022 @ 5:52pm
@Noghettoblstrs

The American prison system works CONVICTS. They have been convicted in a fair trial by an impartial jury of their peers beyond a reasonable doubt. I WISH we actually punished our prisoners.

Slaves are either born or abducted and are the PROPERTY of their masters. They can be bought,, sold, and even culled. Convict laborers are WARDS.
YepThatsMyName Jul 22, 2022 @ 2:37pm
The mod has a good potential.
YepThatsMyName Jul 22, 2022 @ 2:28pm
I mean to bee fair, they are prisoners, therefore they get slightly more rights I guess.
You could make like, a discussion and get some cool mechanics.
Maybe.
I dunno.
Hahkethomemah  [author] Jul 22, 2022 @ 1:05pm
@RedPine
The mechanics are totally different ofc, as they are definitely not slaves :

Pros:
- Recreation is not needed
- Expectations are always low
- Capable for simple work types
- Will insult or social fight only other prisoners
-Twice less likely to social fight
- Much less problematic to enlist into prison labour than recruit
- Add only 3/4 of their worth to raid points

Cons:
- Working prisoners can rebel
- Incapable of advanced work
-15% less work speed
RedPine Jul 22, 2022 @ 12:37pm
Is there a thread with the exact game mechanics of this mod? Vanilla interactions involving slavery & prisoners already has a lot of moving parts (mood, breaks, work types, escapes...) so I'm curious as to where this mod falls in the QoL-RP-Overhaul spectrum. Are working prisoners outright superior to slaves, in terms of game mechanics? Or they equal? Or do both slaves and working prisoners have their own pros and cons?
noghettoblastrs Jul 22, 2022 @ 9:32am
that redditors parents interrogating the prison industrial complex about slave labor. "No way! they are just prisoners! we give them job opportunities!"
TurtleShroom Jul 22, 2022 @ 9:25am
I also don't subject Prisoners to unnecessary pain and torment (organ harvesting uses anesthesia) unless they attack first, or if they did something evil to begin with (e.g. the Human Trafficker Backstory, or they shot at my children, etc.).
TurtleShroom Jul 22, 2022 @ 9:23am
On the bright side, I have never played a cannibal run. While I have played some games as Onis where it was only Acceptable, it was because the Scenario said that the Onis in question had just developed sentience. Why would they see sapient beings' meat as different?

I also don't talk about the drugs.
TurtleShroom Jul 22, 2022 @ 9:21am
I talk to my grandfather about "Rimworld" all the time, organ harvesting and all. However, I have not spoken a word to my parents about it, because the one time I mentioned that she heard gunshots on my computer, that surprised her. I calmed her by showing her what a Pawn looked like: "this is what they are shooting at", I said. The cutesy art style made her realize that there was no gore, as I wouldn't play it if it was. There is also no sex beyond snuggling in a bed, which I would not play RW if such wasn't the case.

Mind you, I am allowed to play "M" games- I am well past the age of majority -but if I told them I was harvesting organs and enslaving people, they would be upset. The worst part is that RW is my all-time favorite video game EVER.

I remember that Reddit post lol, good meme and nice mod!
