Pretty much each piece is a 3rd the volume so it's a 3rd the cost.

What is the cost vs the vanilla large reactor? Is it balanced to be 1:1 ?

Thanks is was a simple model that got out of control so I kept the fuel simple 😅

Great mod Chip I usually use other reactors with other types of fuel besides U. With yours I can add your U reactor and the cool factor. Great job!!

This reactor has a specifically designed upgrade module that fits on the top and bottom round ports.

Help. Reactor works well, plasma moves around core as advertised, but I can't find the upgrades.

Hah hah! And now I'm having issues replicating it when powering off reactor-only and leaving the boosters on. One out of 4 tries breaks, the rest of the time it works, and I have no clue why now since nothing changed that I'm aware of on my side.

Image of what it looks like in a test world with no other mods, since did some extended testing today on a large grid (previous report was on a small grid, though):

Booster on right was powered down while fueled reactor and left booster were left running, 2 minutes later right booster was powered back on and the results are as seen. Doesn't appear to make a difference if it's a quick power off/on cycle, if the entire array is powered on/off, no fuel in creative mode, or if only the reactor is powered off, then back on. Everything but the render of the middle spinny plasma seems to work just fine.

So you getting the second but not the first. Was the reactor powered and fuelled all that time?

Correct, when I turn the module off, it stops applying it's modification, green indicator goes red, and the spinning yellow ring turns off. If I then turn it back on (was a couple minutes between power down to power up in this case), it applies the modification to the reactor again, red indicator turns back green, but the yellow ring doesn't return. The "tube" the ring is in gets a blue mesh-like pattern to it, though. Waiting doesn't appear to change this (I initially thought it might be a "warm-up" animation), but exiting the world and entering it again causes the yellow spinny ring to re-appear.

I kept the logic of the upgrade effect separate for this reason, so to clarify your turning the upgrade module off?

Anyone else having an issue where the reactor boosters don't change their animation back to the "running" one when you power them on after they've been off for a bit? Animation works just fine on reload.

Boosters work properly based on power state regardless of the animation, so purely a visual issue.

on the other hand you could ask to borrow deuterium from the deuterium mod

Instead of a custom fuel, if it's fusion, then it should just burn hydrogen, right? Perhaps the "fusion" version could runs on hydrogen, but give the very high power output for a very tiny/slow hydrogen use?

Since it takes up 3x3x3 when fully assembled i would suggest at least 100MW each since the large reactor puts out 300MW

Probably one of the best looking reactor/power mods on the workshop, however for the size to power output ratio, it would be nicer if it pushed out more power. By the way, I don't think your scripting sucks :)

Personally, I think that this is an amazing idea. Main issue is just the output, for taking up the space of what can be up to 27 small reactors what is the point of the plasma when it has the output of 3?

This mod has a lot of potential as a ship core or roleplay feature, so things like another slot on the upgrades to allow for endless adaptability and improvements along with a bump up to power output so it can fit its immense physical size would make this a really neat addition to the game.

Another thing, for more modules maybe you can add things like a 5x5 ring or some sort of cooling system.

I want to make it clear that I don't want to make you do something you weren't interested in or comfortable doing with this mod but, I'd personally love to see an UN balanced version that was like 100G lol.
