Extra Trait Effects

Not sure if this is a bug or an issue caused by this mod or the SOTO mod, but some players on my server are reporting a way to "cheat" the trait system.

I’m still unclear on the exact method, but according to them, it involves adding and removing a trait in a certain way that causes two identical negative traits to appear. The game then gives them extra trait points (as if they had two negative traits), but only one of the negative effects actually applies.

So in short: they gain extra points from duplicated negative traits without receiving the full penalty.
Fajdek  [author] Apr 25 @ 10:25pm
Yes both mods shouldnt affect each other the only difference might be if SOTO affects prices of traits, if thats the case ETE has to be loaded after
Gojita Apr 25 @ 12:35pm
Is it okay if I use both ETE and SOTO? If so, what's the priority?

ETE
SOTO

or

SOTO
ETE

Will this mod be updated to B42 when B42 hits stable?

I set smoker to 5 days, tested by surviving five days with no smoking, and trait did not go away. Can confirm that option does not work as expected.
i am just noob 99 Nov 27, 2024 @ 6:57pm
the brawler reset the boosted dmg add on the weapon when i am not being tired and exhausted like juggernaut trait any fix? Btw great mod i having fun great work >.<
Oween Nov 7, 2024 @ 7:59pm
Can you give us options to disable certain trait changes? I like the idea of some of these but there's also a lot I really hate about some of them like smoker is unusable with the coughing and fitness debuff (that's also not how being a smoker works you build a tolerance to coughing), slow reader is ridiculous with the boredom and weak stomach giving you food poisoning from stale food is also really brutal. I like where this is headed but you need to tweak a lot for balance.
Official Le Fishe Oct 30, 2024 @ 8:36pm
gotcha, thanks
Fajdek  [author] Oct 30, 2024 @ 3:28pm
satiated is fine, but well fed and above is not
Official Le Fishe Oct 30, 2024 @ 3:05pm
any green hunger moodle? even satiated (the lowest tier one and near unavoidable)?
Fajdek  [author] Oct 30, 2024 @ 2:17pm
you run the risk when you have green hunger moodle
Official Le Fishe Oct 30, 2024 @ 1:54pm
is there any set cap to how much food a character can consume to avoid food sickness with weak stomach? like is it if i eat more then +20 food at a time i run the risk?
DeafJaeger黑马 Oct 14, 2024 @ 7:41am
Thank you! Looks like it should be the "<=", so player will have chance = 1 if below zero, and at the same time higher chances if player has more positive modifiers
Fajdek  [author] Oct 14, 2024 @ 7:02am
I have no idea why it's there so yeah. I'll patch it sometime soon since it's a simple fix.
DeafJaeger黑马 Oct 14, 2024 @ 12:20am
Hi! I tried hunting with this mod and didnt found anything in many of tries with quickhunt on server.
I searched for code of hunting and found that you find something on hunt when ZombRand(0,1000) <= Chance. Meanwhile the code above says that "if chance >= 0 then chance = 1". This means that no matter how good your aiming is, you always have only 0.1% chance to find something.
Is this a bug?
Ray Sep 24, 2024 @ 3:30am
Is there a way to make this compatible with superb survivors? The moment the player character is about to damage an NPC survivor this mod crashes it unfortunately.
LauraTons Sep 18, 2024 @ 3:00am
Please add an option to disable changes/effects to smoker so that people can use other quitable smoker mods.
Fajdek  [author] Aug 29, 2024 @ 7:40pm
Mhm. Just know that while a wound is infected then it slows even more, if you keep it disinfected all the time it'll be faster than if you keep it infected.
charon Aug 29, 2024 @ 3:16pm
Is Slow Healer supposed to be *that* intense? I got a scratch and now I'm Agony and limping for two days straight while constantly having to use disinfectant or sterile bandages.

From a scratch.
Fajdek  [author] Aug 28, 2024 @ 9:54pm
Lucky only works when paired with one of 3 specific traits, under specific circumstances. I'll say that much.
Burger Aug 28, 2024 @ 9:29pm
Anyone figure out what the new Lucky does, and if it works in multiplayer?
Calasmeer Aug 27, 2024 @ 9:15am
Thanks for taking the time to respond, I will check this out then seems cool
Fajdek  [author] Aug 26, 2024 @ 2:13pm
Effects added by this mod shouldn't break SOTO, it doesn't create new traits it just expands on vanilla ones. The only incompatibility that can arise is SOTO modifying vanilla traits costs over ETE and it being unbalanced cus of it, but I assure you it's playable apart from that
Calasmeer Aug 26, 2024 @ 11:18am
Seems cool, anyone have experience using this with "Simple Overhaul: Traits and Occupations (SOTO)"? I see in description it's supposed to be compatible?
[p][u][n] ☕ Jul 27, 2024 @ 6:08pm
Honestly so many of the changes make perks death sentences and pointless in even taking.
Artimedias Jul 10, 2024 @ 5:21pm
Did some poking around the files to see what lucky did. Very clever, I like that.

Also @SKULL REACTION Dexterous costs 1 more sure, but it also prevents you from dropping items when tripping and or hopping tall fences. That's making it more polarizing like you suggested, no?

As for smoker, yes it's debilitating to lose out on so much endurance regen, but its intended as a sorta early penalty trait to work off now. Like very underweight or obese. That's how I see it at least.

Personally I think 66% endurance regen is a bit harsh. Maybe only 80% instead?
SKULL REACTION Jul 6, 2024 @ 11:42am
I can agree that smoker is OP, but making it as horrible as asthmatic is overkill, btw on that note please rework asthmatic, endurance regen is the lifeblood of combat, and the smoker trait never revolved around combat, it was a constant cost of cigarettes or face depression and stress.
the coughing is good and the hit to fitness could be worked around but the endurance regen makes it completely worthless for any playthrough where you will ever fight enemies, try playing with asthmatic and tell me its fun and balanced
SKULL REACTION Jul 6, 2024 @ 11:33am
WHY did you make dextrous worse?? was it such an op trait that you had to make it incredibly bad?? it costs an entire point extra and if you think that not dropping items is a huge boon then ill tell you it isnt. dextrous is one of my favourite traits and id like to see it become more polarizing (make it more expensive but with a better upside, i really hate how its an afterthought if you have extra points instead of a decison), not worse with a useless lump attached to it.
Cirrus Jun 17, 2024 @ 10:41am
Damn the hit to smoker is big
Fajdek  [author] May 1, 2024 @ 8:49pm
i don't think that's possible to implement
Zera Apr 23, 2024 @ 10:48am
Will eating one STALE food item really kill you with weak stomach?
xapti Apr 23, 2024 @ 9:18am
@Wolf401 Even in the base game stress reduction items do not help with smoker stress (which caps at 51%, the start of tier 2 stress), which I think makes reasonable-enough sense and helps with balance.

I haven't tried this mod so I don't know if what you say about Weak Stomach is true, but I'm guessing this was still user-error on your part not looking at your sickness moodle. I'm assuming that the sickness gain is instant though; if it is not instant then your criticism is valid since one would not know that they are overdosing on food until it is too late.

As long as the sickness gain is immediately visible to the player I'd say that the trait is still balanced; definitely no longer an easy pick for newbies though (or even an easy pick in general, but that's how all traits should be).
Wolf401 Apr 2, 2024 @ 2:33am
i've noticed the weak stomach trait is a bit too strong as a negative, a survivor with full health can be killed in about 3 in-game hours if they find a lot of food and try to counter the underweight trait, least that was what i felt when my survivor with no other meaningful downsides started to lose health, me being dumb thought i was just carrying a heavy load and went to go sort it out, after then, i noticed it noticeably dropping by about 5% each 10 minutes, and with no way to stop it aside from being proactive and almost never ingesting food, the other traits tend to compound on each other like they should so having smoker with one of the phobia traits makes the game much more difficult, i just couldn't help but notice though that upon pounding 20 books that i was constantly stressed, at 50%, without any changes aside from it going higher and higher
Tnaz.v Apr 1, 2024 @ 1:44am
I'm suffering from this error, I don't know if it could be your mod or someone else in my pack. The strange thing is that it only happens to me, and it doesn't happen to my friends. When I leave the server and re-enter my character, my character gets sick as if he had been bitten and it dies, I already uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, I restarted the server and reinstalled it and the same thing happens to me, I don't know if it's a bug or what I'm doing wrong, the strangest thing is that I host the server from another PC but with myself Steam account, I shouldn't have a problem being me, am I supposed to? If you can help me, thank you, it's ruining my ability to enjoy and enjoy a great game.

here I explain more about my case

is the smoker trait supposed to make you depressed in 1 in game hour? it is literally the most annoying thing ever, and how fast it rises is so annoying, great mod tho
Fajdek  [author] Feb 20, 2024 @ 8:44am
tooltip is wrong most likely as it's supposed to be a "if you can't find any bandages at all you will still heal slowly" feature, and 0.4/10min would heal most wounds rapidly

as for smoker, no guarantees ill update it. code kinda messy lol, if i care enough one day maybe ill check it
JohnnyPocketCheese Feb 20, 2024 @ 12:26am
Your version of fast healer states in its tool tip that 0.4 gets removed from burn timer every 10 mins while unbandaged, you are actually removing 0.04 every 10 mins. Similar values for other wound types, scratch laceration etc . . . Its still faster than normal burn healing speed, but im not sure if this is the value you had intended; or if the tool tip is just off by one decimal point.
JohnnyPocketCheese Feb 19, 2024 @ 7:48pm
Do you think you could add a sandbox option to disable your version of smoker? I love everything else, but I miss being able to delete my stress by smoking, I didn't pick the trait because of the massive stamina regen penalty and because people in the comments are saying they can't lose the trait overtime.
jvprestesaraujo Feb 13, 2024 @ 8:23am
is it possible to make a option to remove this mod way of removing the smoker trait as i am using another mod that changes that and i would like to prefer the other mods way,ty
krakrakusu Jan 31, 2024 @ 3:36pm
How can I hunt with the hunter trait?
Bradno Jan 15, 2024 @ 12:09pm
Half a year ago, there was a problem with the disappearance of the "Smoker" trait. Trait did not disappear even after 3 months of playing without smoking. Is this problem still relevant?
Fajdek  [author] Jan 6, 2024 @ 10:48am
Yes.
Actual Final Boss Jan 5, 2024 @ 2:24pm
is this safe to add midgame?
Mk모 Dec 17, 2023 @ 10:36am

Fajdek  [author] Dec 17, 2023 @ 12:55am
it gives you a chance to have a lucky event
Mk모 Dec 16, 2023 @ 8:15pm
Okay... I've kinda looked at this mod's code....
and I'm wondering about what exactly lucky trait does in this mod?

Sure, in vanilla there's 10% more chance finding item, and 5% less chance to fail repairing items, and increasing searching radius.

and via this mod's code, I kinda knew that it affects foraging, and some relations with slow healing trait and resilient trait

...But exactly what does the lucky trait do in Extra Trait Effects...?
ThreeTacks Dec 15, 2023 @ 2:10pm
I haven't smoked for 30 days and I still have the Smoker trait. Is this a bug? I think it may have happened because I didn't smoke a single cigarette ever since I spawned.
Dante271 Dec 6, 2023 @ 9:35am
Yes, it was my mistake, I literally confused your mod with the one you mentioned, thanks anyway
