It does, I assure you. And thanks for having it available. Stability is an issue but it's the game not the mod. 15x15 is the largest still playable for me, my 20x20 game I abandoned, its not worth the lag

No problem. Personally I'd like to see some random variance in empire generation. I.e. empires starting with more/less towns/cities but having more/less unrest/money/ships to compensate. Maybe even having empires start in alliances (could lead to a sort of cold-war start scenario). If you do decide to try making mods, check out the #modding channel on the game's discord.

If that's all it takes to make a mod for it, I might eventually have a go at it myself. That said, I agree. Would be nice if Zark let us use sliders for this, but with added 'disclaimers' about performance issues on larger map sizes. I quite enjoy seeing a ton of empires duking it out and trying to navigate the even messier diplomacy of dealing with 3 dozen factions at once.

Map size mods only add extra map sizes, so their function isn't very different. There's only like 4 or so variables each map size modifies. IIRC its grid size (total map size), # of empires, # of towns per empire, and # of monster nests. So, pretty trivial overall if you want to make your own map mod. I think it would've been better for everyone though if Mr. Zark had just added map sliders to the conquest menu, though.

I'll see about testing this in multiplayer at some point. Already got another map mod that allows for densely crowded maps (largest I've seen put in 35 empires including my own), so I wonder if this will function very differently.

I haven't had the chance to test it in multiplayer. Although, I don't think this should be crashing the game. Make sure both of you have the mod, then try the smallest custom map and see if its just them crashing because the map is too big.

Zark just updated the game to support 64bit java so you should be able to allocate more memory for map generation in Airships.json in the game's steam directory; similar to how you can give more memory to Minecraft.

The big maps working again, Just start the game windowed at a low aspect ratio so you can leave it to do it's thing. While it goes unresponsive don't touch it or it crashes.

I tried allocating more RAM in the config.jason file, but it didn't even boot.

the 8 factions and 10 citys each one is the only one i tested but its erroring out because the game thinks its ran out of memory which it hasnt i have 32 gb of ram and its only useing 5.1% of it

That is not caused by the mod. It happens when you start with a faction that does not have a ship at the tech level you start at, which can happen randomly.

for some reason your mod sometimes causes the player faction to not spawn with a starting fleet.

The mod works well for me, the bigger maps certainly push the programming.

Loading a bigger map may cause the program to go unresponsive, don't close it yet- it may still load in with patience (go get a coffee and a snack).

The program never used more than 2GB RAM but did push the CPU thread it's running on, so a better/modern CPU will help (Specifically a better single thread performance).

Running it in windowed mode when first loading the map also helps.

20x20 is like the absolute edge of stability, if you get an error either try it again or try a smaller map size. I've been able to load up all 3 20x20 variations (3rd and 4th thumbnails are 20x20 8 Empires) but it still does give me the error sometimes as well, so it could take a couple of tries.

For a rough explanation of map size editing, each one has four values:
1. Grid size (2x2, 12x12, etc.)
2. Number of Empires (Including Player Empire)
3. Number of Towns per Empire (Default is 3 per empire)
4. Number of Nests (Monster Spawns)

Mod has been updated, no longer are the days that I include dumb map sizes that don't even load! I have thoroughly tested each and every added map size to make sure it generates and loads in.

The game crash on start if you try to allocate more than 2gb of RAM, so beefy computer is not a sollution

unfortunately most of the big map sizes require a lot of memory so its a problem with your hardware. the game just isn't optimized to generate larger maps so you need a really beefy pc to do it

BTW: there is no 1x1 map size because the game likes to crash whenever you try to load it. Also 0x0 does not exist, do not let anyone tell you otherwise.
