Got back into PZ, thought I'd check up on this finally. Pushed a small update to reduce the required level to 4 and updated the distributions.

Not sure what the issue was with some of the people below, but I can confirm it still works in B41.

Worked both in the vehicle menu and directly on the part.

If you have issues, its likely because you are not level 4 or are using a non vanilla part. If you checked both of those and still have issues, send me the name of the vehicle and part you are having issue with.

does this work with existing saves?

Considering its a tiny mod that adds one thing, presume it does.
Its quite literally a single item that mimics duct tape, only thing that could break it is if the devs change the name for the windows (which prob won't ever happen).

There is no option to repair the windshield even at level 10 mechanic. All cars are vanilla.

It works with all vanilla parts, verify its not a special modded part.

I do recall seeing some "convert X part to M998 part" recipes, thanks for reminding me.

I believe the M998 has some of its own methods to repair and crafting new windshields from regular ones.

Assuming they use the vanilla windshield parts, yes. Certain vehicles that have special modded parts like the M998 won't work.

Will this work on random modded vehicles?

Others would need to confirm this, as I don't know for certain because I've not literally tested loot respawn or anything other than a test server to verify the item is in the game, and functioning. In fact shortly after creating this mod my mates bailed on our PZ save so I've not really played since.

The item is added to the following loot tables CrateMechanics, GarageMechanics, and MechanicShelfMisc. I used the same method as many other mods to add the item to the game, and they have claims that respawn does work, so I see no reason why it doesn't.

hey sir, do the kits respawns along with other items if the server is set to have loot respawn?
we ve had your mod installed for around 2 weeks and I dont think anyone found kits yet.
Our server is a 1 month old world save, 20 regular players and daily loot respawn with all types set to extremely rare.

What I mean by that is unchecked as in unlooted containers. Respawned containers are considered for new loot as far as I know.

'you must loot unchecked containers to find it. ' This mean the already looted container will not spawn? even after item re spawn in the container?

Still? This was created 2 months after MP came out.
