I think the reason for genes is that you can pick and choose, for example I mix charmweaver and highmate genes or any genes I get really, I do this to make fun xenotypes, i think it would be cool to have a xenotype for Dragonians for that reason I guess.

I don't see the point in making a bunch of genes to do what is already being done unless har implements mixed races. That aside, the hair styles can be worn by humans, just need to add them to whatever pool humans draw from to select hairstyles. Feel free to make the genes if you like though. And this isn't a no persay, feel free to give me your reasons why you want me to switch from using hediffs and comps that operate on the race level to genes that can fail to pass on.

That's also why i would prefer a xenotype-only version for the Dragonians, so it would play nice in those scenarios.

Oh? Then those events must take into account the factions basepawnkind which would explain why they were generating dragonians, in which case i'd say everything is working as intended if not how we'd expect. Perhaps we could use a patch to say, add in humans to the list for the faction and reduce the likelihood of dragonians being chosen for those events, but I haven't dabbled in making events yet so i'm not sure if that's the way to go about it.

Thank you for taking the time to look into it. :) I started a whole new game with the default crashlanding start, got some Dragonians by differing means and the pawn-generating events work as intended.

I think the only thing I can realistically do is a patch to disallow dragonians from having that xenotype, I'll try and peek at their quest that gives you a phytokin, I assume it only ensures that the pawn has the genes without regard to race. iirc the issue of forcing the dragonian xenotype onto new pawns was dealt with already, not sure why the pawn rolled dragonian though.

That's curious, I've seen a similar situation with the biotech version of revia. Non revia were spawning with revian genes giving them tails and ears on top of their own addons. I'll see if i can find out what the cause might be.

The dragonian starting scenarios are bugged: it forces some events to spawn a dragonian when it's not necessary. For exemple, my animakin xenotype created by the event from VRE- Phytokin was also a dragonian race, with horns and scales but the animakin genes.

Ah, I see. From what I've read before which was stated by others, that issue stems from the authors of those biotech mods not taking compatibility into account when coding. Tbh I don't play with too many biotech specific mods precisely because they throw odd errors with HAR, and I like all the mods it supports too much to try and find alternatives. There is a biotech version of dragonians, but from what I saw it was at one point riddled with issues. They also ripped some stuff from this one but never asked, nor did they implement the assets properly to begin with, needless to say I wasn't impressed, lol.

Because HAR behave weirdly with many biotech mods, or more accuratly many mods based on HAR are misbehaving with biotech stuff.
Yours is one of the most bug free, but Dragonian is currently the -only- mod i am using HAR for.

As for the graphics for the younger lifestages, I've got work to do on those. Proper scaling will be implemented as I update the xml, and find the code I need to do so properly with facial animations enabled (if that's even still an issue) I'll switch off the tail addon for babies and children later today, and thanks for letting me know about the swaddle graphic being an issue, I'll try and figure that out.

Ooooh, thanks for letting me know. I've removed the (bio) completely, so both scenarios should just be Banished and Escape and added the _ back to the pirate faction, not sure why I removed it in the first place. While I do have a github setup I haven't been using it, unfortunately.

Hi, thanks for the update work.
But I think you don't need to remove the "_" in "<defName>Dragonian_Pirate</defName>" in the FactionDef in this update.
This causes the faction information to be lost from the worldmap and causes the symptoms described by Ferpman (Cyan) below.

Also, in the scenario "<defName>DR_Banished(bio)</defName>", the use of "( )" in the DefName is preventing the translation from loading properly, so we would appreciate it if you could change it back to "_bio" before the update.

Well, seems I have an error loading the world map now, something about the dragonian pirates bases are not loading and throwing contant errors, tried to add the faction back with vanilla expanded, but no dice, throws me another error when I try to add it.

Looks much better, at least the adults, looks like babies and children both have two tails and with about half of the babies the body is still swaddled while having the dragonian baby body clipping through. Are heads supposed to be resized when at different lifestages as well?

Yep, once I'm satisfied with the scales and minor fixes I'll be slightly modifying the current thin body to give a bit more sense of gender, then doing the normal type for both genders. As I've previously said and most should have noticed the bodies are based off of nals compatible bodies, as I neither have the expertise to draw a well proportioned body from scratch or the desire to use the older versions anymore (it's really hard to properly part someone elses work to make bodyaddons that don't look hella janky or have artifacts like my previous facial anim work) I am trying to keep to the aesthetic sense of the original somewhat, but ultimately the direction is compatability with more vanilla equipment. It'll be awhile before I'm "done" with it but i'll try and get an update out this month, still gonna be a work in progress though. aand i'll add a couple screenshots of my current dragonian colonist in game to twitter later today. TLDR yes and sure, soon.

So it's currently only the thin body for prime 2 yes? it looks very different from the screenshots currently.

Yeh, I'm still in the midst of mashing up some better textures to replace everything that's off-centre or horribly pixelated by this point and i've got a lot of under the hood stuff to deal with as well. I'm still trying to 'perfect' the thin body and the scaling for it and subsequently all the extra parts. I can post a quick screenshot of what it currently is like in my working version if you guys want to see?

The Dragonian Xenotype seems to have a thin body for me rather than their regular one, making them look extremely weird.

@Haerzog I don't use psychology, so have no insight as to how it applies it's affects.
@sleepingpiranha dragonians are busted compared to vanilla, statwise at least.
@Ratholos666 there's scaling based on age, currently teen heads are miniscule compared to their bodies which i'm looking into(hard to balance when using nals as well)

Not sure if I just ended up with a weird one but I got a dragonian that is unusually tiny compared to other pawns. I’ll try and spawn more in later to see if it’s just the one or if it’s all of them

Dragonians don't seem to go through any kind of cultural event quietly, including their own marriages and births. They always walk to their position and then leave, leaving others waiting for them.

Would be the offsets for tails, I haven't updated in a while but the version i'm using is a fair bit cleaner than the last one for graphics, still tweaking scaling and positioning for addons and the heads, it can be quite time consuming to get things right. Sorry for the long wait.

Yep, and it caused massive amounts of tps loss and wonky AI happenings (starving dragonians running to the plains/forest to snack on a low nutrition plant instead of eating the damn potatoes or something in the freezer), thus I changed it. If I ever find a way to reimplement it without bring back the problems I'll consider it, but for now that's not in the cards.

Didn't dragonian's used to be able to graze? Because they could eat "live plants"? They don't seem to be able to do that anymore. A shame, it was great for caravans.
