Not exactly the same thing, but for 1.5 you can try https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3378091537 . There is an option to exclude animals from auto slaughter, although generally the improvements should make it work reasonably in most cases without any explicit handling.

Seems to work for me!

It seems like it may break auto-slaughter if you try to run it in 1.5

Does anyone know if this mod still works in 1.5?
Doomchibi May 8, 2024 @ 12:55pm
Seconding this, would this need an update for 1.5?
Bosk Apr 14, 2024 @ 10:25am
Since no one has asked yet, Will this be updated to 1.5? I used this mod a lot, it made auto salughter have less mico managmemt

Bard of Hearts - Have you tried upping the number to be slaughtered by one?
The Bard of Hearts Jun 30, 2023 @ 4:00pm
I like the idea of this mod. But it kinda clashes with the autoslaughter function a bit. If you have 2 cows and have it set to maintain only 1. Meanwhile, you've selected the one you want kept and set the "Not this one" up, they will just never slaughter the other bull, ever. They want to slaughter the oldest one first and can't because of this mod. But they never move on to slaughter the next one in line.

So, this mod doesn't really work as intend it seems. Any chance this can get fixed?

I seriously can't believe that this isn't a vanilla feature, vanilla auto-slaughter is actually so bad

Such a random thing I wished I could do and of course there's a mod for it lol. Thanks so much!

I love how literally every time something annoys me in Rimworld due to poor quality of life, there's a 100% chance that some talented modder has already fixed it

Rhodry that would rock!

Wonderful mod! Noticed a typo in the gizmo description. "Will toggle slaughter disaling feature..." Looks like the b was slaughtered accidently. :KOh: :2017catheart:
Doomchibi Oct 20, 2022 @ 11:53pm
Will this be getting a 1.4 update? I get attached to my animals and this has been great for keeping my favorites literally off the chopping block. Thank you!
Rhodry Dec 30, 2021 @ 10:26pm
was looking for something like this, auto always kills your full grown wool/milk producing animals instead of you know the ones you would kill for meat, the just grown to adult/young ones. I could understand killing ones within 10% of life expectancy, but manual toggle will do ha
Alundra (Alunny) Oct 4, 2021 @ 2:07am
This worked for one or two of my pets now it's not working for my thrumbos and megawolverines. It says it's toggled when I go to them but the squares aren't redded out.

Also I would like to request you add a feature: that if they have this toggled they will never show to traders so you also don't accidentally sell them or give them as gifts.

Amazing. super useful because auto-slaughter cares not if your animals are named or not. as long as it's not bonded mr. clucks, your favorite chicken, will be killed off just because he's the oldest

Found this by accident and immediately realized how many times I'd wished for it (please slaughter the untrained attack badgers, not the trained ones!)
