2. Is there any reason reported for not being able to use the config
to disable some of the optimizations of specific animals?
To do this you need to use the the mod options menu, but for me it seems to have no effect. However, if I edit the xml file directly it does work.
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld by Ludeon Studios\Config
But if you can't store or even do anything with it it just sits there on the floor forever. No clue if it's a compat issue or not but it's the same issue I had with biomes caverns a while back oof

Bovine beetle is the best example of this. Gives green chitin which is also it's butcher leather leading to this and disablling bovine beetle and it's lifestages doesn't seem to enable green chitin to allow storing and using it.

With a lot of modded animals, it’s sometimes hard to find the right animal, and to also keep things consistent between the live animal and corpse if they are manually changed.
The reason for requesting such feature was fixing vre - pigskins pig leathers, hope fellow Scorpio will fix that

The production Tab only looks for the VFE Chitin so the OPT butchered resource is useless as it cannot be used at any workbench. Any chance this could be patched?
