Final update for the legacy version, it brings the reworked textures from 1.4 back, while I will try to fix any issues for 1.3 from here on out this version is considered discontinued.

New update should fix this, you may now have both subscribed, if you are trying to resume a 1.3 update use the legacy version of course. The save file will say they are not the same mods but it is fine, simply ignore the warnings and resume the old file.

Eh no, not exactly. For some reason i can't fathom rimworld has tagged the 1.4 version as 1.3 AND 1.4, and is getting confused about which version is which. That is why i broke them into two mods. TLDR i can update the legacy version to be distinctly separate, but you will have to deal with any add-on mods like the backstory saying its missing a dependency. They should still work, but save files and the add-ons wont recognize legacy version as the same mod.

Huh, so 1.4 is backward compatible? I wanted to keep the legacy version around for my 1.3 colony, but if it's not needed, then that's great.

You wouldn't want to use both versions, they both use the same i.d, this was so any translations or community patches wouldn't be broken by the split, and save files resumed would automatically recognize the 1.4 version as the same mod. That being said I suppose mods will have to update eventually, and changing the legacy versions id wouldnt be the end of the world.

With both versions subbed, the base game gives an error about them. The mod manager therefore only displays the 1.3 version. I think they have the same name? Would be great to add "legacy" to the 1.3's name for this reason I believe.

The original plan was to release a massive content update and texture overhaul! I was finishing up the texture overhaul when biotech launched, so the game plan is to fix biotech and release the texture overhaul with it!

The new content is being split into a future update. That being said, im getting very close to squashing each error, cut it down from an insane amount to a few left! 1.4 should be ready pretty soon.

I actually am. I had the same idea, I see alot of potential with biotech and yokai. My first move is to squash the existing bugs and update edo to 1.4, after that I may develop and add-on expansion with gene lines and such related to yokai.

I had originally worked on a yokai faction a year ago for Halloween, but was unable to finish it and ended up scraping it, ill admit the release timing of biotech feels like a sign that I should give it another try!

If your open to suggestions for like things to add with the DLC, genelines based on famous yokai would be amazing.... Like I get that the wold be a much later thing any if even done, its kinda just a thought on a posibility.

Not at all. This is very very helpful and informative. I've had previous knowledge with editing photos due to my past work and I imagined this would work similar to that of layers. I'll try this trick out once I get home. I've already booked a week long vacation just to play the heck out of the new rimworld DLC and I plan to experiment while my modlist is clean and my load times are not 30 minutes.

What I'm using is a color map, this is two images, one is the basic drawing of the weapon/armor, the second is red and black colored over version of it. The red tells the game where to add the material color(like painting the armor blue for plassteel), the black tells the game where NOT to color. here is a reference image from the new update.

if you want to add a color map to armor you will need to do one of two things, first add the line of code to the item, <shaderType>CutoutComplex</shaderType>
This enables colormaps, here is another image showing the code.

Finally you add the color maps you create to the folder that contains the base armor textures, and add a lowercase "m" to the end of the name

It can be easy if you know basic modding. If you want to learn, its intimidating stuff but learning XML coding for armor, hair and such is actually easy once you dive into it, there are plenty of good guides on the matter.

First off love the mod. My medieval playthroughs feel incomplete without this mod. One thing I love about the weapons armor of this mod is that dyeing them doesn't seem to affect the whole item. Like when you dye the different kabutos the gold remains unlike most mods where it looks like the pawns just dunked the entire helmet in a paint can and called it a day. How do you do it? And would it be possible to do without that much of a technical knowledge?

Good point, I think my first goal would be to get the mod updated and working, play with biotech a bit and workshop some ideas. Once I get a good feel for the dlc ill probably have a better idea of good additions

Well, at the children will at least need their own clothes since apparently the child pawns don't use the same ones everyone else does. Aside from that I can't really think of anything at the moment.

I do plan on updating for biotech, i'm not exactly sure what I'd do for children in specific, but if there is something worth doing there im open to it! Currently I am trying to finish the complete texture overhaul of the mod before biotechs launch, but we will see if that gets done or not!

However the hay you cut expires and straw doesnt.

Dunno I tought it was more logical and this way my crafters dont have to rush to make the stuff before they put it on the hay drying rack

I've used medieval overhaul before, I'm 90% sure if you just cut grass but DON'T dry the straw from it you can use those in crafting recipes. If you can try that out first and let me know that'd be great. Otherwise if it doesnt work I may be able to write a patch

Overall I like the mod.
But I do have a question that you may probably not solve or Idk how hard it even is.

Ive been playing it with the medieval overhaul mod alongside it for the more medieval age feel.
HOWEVER that mod changes how hay works. Making it so your recipes that require hay cannot be made by me cause hay gets converted into straw for that mod. (trough a process)

Ive been going trough your files. but I have no idea where to even look or how this code works.
Altough its probably an easy fix for me just changing the word hay to straw.

If at all possible, could you make a patched file for that mod as well?

I agree. I was working on a sci-fi expansion for it with laser swords and everything!.... Then I got distracted reworking all the textures for edo. The sci-fi mod will come eventually, once I get some free time to get back into modding.

As it stands, the update plan is final major update for edo, re-balancing, adding some new content and upgrading existing content. Then I'll move onto the spacer sub-mod.

Decorations mostly, visuals for you and beauty for pawns. But when placed near certain Edo items like the beds or chairs it does add some comfort as well.

Hi, do you have a an Shattered empire in your world?

An issue that was recently uncovered is, for some reason the permit code doesnt work unless there is a shattered empire present, it seems to be an odd mistake in the royalty dlc.

After earning Influence, I notice that I have an option to select permits, but the character with it doesn't have a permit menu showing. Is this something that will be added later, or did I forget to check a box or something? It's a great mod and I love using it, just curious.

They are made to fulfill the royal titles added by the divine shogunate, not the empire. I'll consider adding them to the empire, but the general design choice was to keep them as two separate factions, as I wanted the factions to feel separate and unique; but I can understand wanting to use the gear for an empire run.

A lot of the stuff that would be for the Royalty DLC doesn't work for some reason. For example, the edo meditation throne doesn't count as a throne to satisfy throneroom needs, and neither does the fancy double futon for bedroom needs.

Hi, if you have royalty there is the Legendary katana, its a persona blade but its not really hightech, its got more of a myth naming style and theme;

while there is no high-tech items, I can say I am working on an addon that will add spacer style gear, but its still VERY early in development.

Hi. Just started to use it due amazing screenshots japan atmosphere. Im not investiagate mod now toooo far. But if that mod could by a chance has high-tech endgame armor and weapon (even very hard to get and rare) - it would be nice. I know its kinda probably not a goal for mod, but still for person like me it could be useful.

Hi, the problem should is fixed on my end, I just ran tests spawning multiple groups of 100 and never saw the straw coat. T's appears fixed too.

Are you using "Rimedieval - Medieval Conversion"? in my experience that mod ignores tags for medieval items and spreads items across all factions. Its either a mod conflict, or perhaps for some reason steam never updated the mod, in that case I'd advise unsubscribing, waiting a few minutes and resubscribing to force an update.
