Description
Forewords

This is the last time I upload this as a separate mod, I promise. I only do this because I had worries about the differences in code and textures from 1.3 to 1.4, and feared the issues it would cause.

These issues aside, a great deal of work has been put into overhauling the textures of Edo Themed Expansion, and I would like to give thanks to Sovereign, who reworked a great deal of textures for the mod and helped me out with the update.

Let's talk shop about this update, it was originally supposed to be a texture overhaul and content update, but biotech threw a wrench in those plans, after some thought I decided it would be best to split the texture and content update into two separate updates, as to rush a functional version out for 1.4.

As it stands the texture over haul is roughly 95% complete, a few textures still need overhauls and will be done in the coming weeks. After that the new content will begin.

All previous translations or add-ons SHOULD still work, for the 1.3 legacy version they will require an update for the id, as the legacy version now uses the id "Heis.Edo.Themed.Expansion.Legacy.1.3"

Content

Over 20 new weapons and Armor pieces

Custom hair styles

Bamboo Forest Biome

New building and furniture options

New food types

Recommend to use with these mods

T's Samurai Faction, My mod contains a number of redundant weapons, if that bothers you use My redundancy removal patch

Both T's Samurai faction and Eastern Armory add similar sets of armor, but the eastern armor has extra ones. I believe T has a patch for removing the redundant items.

Erin's Japanese Furniture

Velcroboy's Japanese Revival

Dub's paint shop also works nice with the Kimono.

UNAGI Japanese Assortment 鰻の和風箱 If you are looking for more clothing I recently came across this one as well.

F.A.Q

Can I disable the Bamboo forest biome?
Yes, Edo themed expansion makes use of Vanilla Expanded Frameworks toggable patches, so you can tick on the "Edo Themed Expansion: Biome Removal" patch to remove the bamboo forest, although it requires a game restart to take effect. Go to the end of the images for a visual demonstration on how to do this.

Compatibility

T's Samurai Faction, Built in compatibility, plus a redundant item remover here

Built in support for V.E Fishing.

Built in support for BB body.

Built in support for [NL] Facial Animation - WIP (Some of the hairstyles added are adjusted for the new faces)

C.E, Not compatible.

KV] configurable map will cause problems with bamboo forest generation, one uncovered example is increasing the fertility slider caused the map to be covered in mud. Other sliders could cause similar effects, not extensively tested though.

Know Issues

None, thanks for NoirC for helping to solve the two longest issues.

Special thanks

VE team for their fantastic framework.

All the modders who helped me troubleshoot some pesky issues.

Röstli, for writing the Alpha animals patch and helping to update my patches.

Velcroboy, for helping me sort my assembly folder and fix some yellow errors. And his mods for inspiring ideas like the Tori gate.

NoirC for fixing the two known issues that plagued the mod.

AOBA for their amazing "Architecture of the Rim" mod, which I very shamelessly stole inspiration from.

The V.E Props mod, for inspiring the Sashimono banner, as well as just the general use of props.

Erins Japanese Furniture mod, which also provided a huge source of inspiration. Specifically around Tatami mats and how to handle them.

PERMISSIONS

All my stuff is free to use in your mods. That being said, some form of credit or acknowledgement is required. All you need is a little "Special thanks to" or something, its disingenuous to do so without crediting, as by omitting credit you imply you made it yourself.

Additionally, please ask first. If you neither ask nor provide credit, I will fully assume you are attempting to steal my work and pass it off as your own.

This does not apply for mods clearly labeled as patches, re textures, or mods that use mine as a dependency. No form of asking or credit is required, for any mod using mine as a dependency.

Final words

If anyone should so desire to support me, leave a comment. Seriously, its free and I love to see em.

But since I was asked once, if anyone has some extra change burning a hole in their pockets, I have a Ko-fi now.

It might be but I havent engaged with that content or tried Medieval 2 yet, so I would rather not promise anything I am unfamiliar with, but I will keep it in mind.

Would it be possible to add compatibility with VFE-Medieval 2's Heraldry system? I would love to be able to create custom clan emblems on the Battle Banner apparel and the standing banner decorations!

Love the mod! Is there any chance you could add a 1x1 tatami? Would really help fill out rooms nicely.

Hey, thanks for changing the mask to the newer version! I think it looks great, better than both before it.

I will probably not be making many adjustments to generation, if you load a ton of biome mods they overlap, its the nature of it, there are mods that let the player adjust the overlap by hand and change how common biomes are.
emihead Apr 17 @ 10:49pm
just so you know, the bamboo forest's generation on the world map overlaps very heavily with Lightless Empyrean: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3240799928
i had to make LE more common using another mod, otherwise the bamboo forest covered it completely.
imo, it should be a bit closer to rainforests - bambo tends to be located closer to the equator irl - but it's up to you how you choose to address this, if at all. great work on the mod!

Yeah its probably compression too, I'm seeing it on stuff for vanilla as well in trace amounts. Nevermind then!
Hei  [author] Apr 17 @ 6:09pm
It seems like the nearby gun is doing it too, im guessing the outline isnt orange and more so its showing the ground below the shelf? it seems to match colors.

Im not sure whats causing it but I know rimworld textures can get glitchy when zooming in. Theres not much I can do regarding it. My guess is its due to stray very transparent pixels getting stretched, since I hand drew those ones vs using vector art.

So the tldr is it seems an issue involving how the game handles "feathering" or very, very transparent colors
Stychis Apr 17 @ 6:06pm
...I've come to notice that just about everything I use has the orange outline in some regard, nevermind.
Stychis Apr 17 @ 5:55pm
On the side, I also wanted to bring up an observation about the weapons: It appears they've gained some kind of orange outline? I say gained, because I dont remember them being on the graphic when I used them in 1.4. But I will admit I dont entirely remember, either.

I can confirm however that this outline doesnt exist when its held by a colonist or anything like that, its just the texture used when its on the ground or a shelf, etc.
