Hi, love the mod. Excellent work however for some reason my journal stopped saving my weapon skills, specifically axe. Any thoughts?

Hi, your mod isn't working for me. Version 041. I'm playing with two friends. I'm hosting, and the journal doesn't appear in the game's "B" menu, neither in English nor in my language (Spanish).
I've unsubscribed, resubscribed, deactivated it in the game's mods menu, reactivated it, and added your mod to the game (already started). But the journal still doesn't appear for crafting.

Thanks, and sorry for my poor English. I use Google Translate.

There should be more lines around the error showing the file line and name for the source.

I need help, I can't create a new notebook, I have everything I need, but when I create it, the only option to write in the bullet point is, it says it needs to be ready with a pen, which doesn't make sense since I haven't created the notebook yet.In old save it works, but nothing I create works, I need help because it really helps me a lot

Seeing some one stand up to "mod packing" is great. thanks

This mod stops my crafting menu from coming up and gives me errors.

You should be able to transfer the player file over (atleast in MP)

This mod is an absolute NECESSITY for any of my SP/MP games in Zomboid. Many thanks Chuckleberry. One question - what would it take to make the journals import/export friendly? Maybe like an old school video game method where you type in a code and it puts the right amount of XP for each skill or something like that, rather than an apples to apples import.

I think it would be super cool to be able to continue my characters across any map or gamezone to keep a more "persistent" function. No items or even the character itself needs to transfer, just hopefully what comes in a journal (XP, recipes, zombie kills)

Thank you. :)

Just wanted to say thanks very much for this mod, and for maintaining it.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] Jun 6 @ 5:21am
If the mod is added to an ongoing world the sandbox options may not be added correctly- I'm not sure why this would cause mismatched behavior between players (if that's what you're describing).

My friend has a problem with the mod — he's not getting his XP recovered from the TV, and in the settings I don't see the Skill Recovery Journal settings, even though I'm the owner of the server. Why is that? Do I need another mod to use this mod?
I'm also using the Error Magnifier mod. Yes, I added the mod in both the Steam Workshop settings and the mod settings, but it's still not working.

@kitkat - Great minds ;)
TacoJuans Jun 4 @ 4:59pm
is there a mod where i dont have to craft a book and record progress in? i want to just maintain my skills when i die...
Kitkat Jun 4 @ 2:47pm
bruh i told my friends about this idea for a mod i had and recited the EXACT idea for this mod like down to it being a journal and all damn... amazing.
dualfilter81 Jun 4 @ 10:31am
update: resub did not work but disabled the mod. loaded up the save. quit. enable mod. load up again and now works. thank you :)
dualfilter81 Jun 3 @ 12:27pm
please help. b41, crafting menu opens on launch, no option to craft the journal [yes its enabled in settings], if i close it unable to re-open it. worked fine in previous run
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] Jun 3 @ 11:01am
Glad it worked!
Jake With a Hat Jun 3 @ 10:48am
Scratch that I just erased and then re wrote the mod thing and loaded it again. For some reason it duplicated my save and I used the other one and now the mod is working in the save :) Thank you!
Jake With a Hat Jun 3 @ 10:36am
Thanks for the super fast answer. I'm looking through the tab that specifically says skill recovery journal and everything is there, and I even tried the deleting 3 thing from one of the other tabs in the crafting recipe. Would it be in one of the more general sandbox options or is there perhaps another recipe I could try to make it appear?
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] Jun 3 @ 9:35am
There might be an issue with sandbox options- the recipe is generated from a sandbox option.

Hi, thanks for all your work with this mod! I'm was wondering if there is any way to add this mod to a world in progress, as it's my first time trying Zomboid with my friends and I didn't quite set up the mods right the first time we played. I made a new world to test and found the journals recipe, but no matter what way I set it up the skill book tab/recipe won't appear in the already started run. Is there any other way to add it to an ongoing run other then what is in the FAQ? Thanks again!

Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 30 @ 12:24pm
I can only guess with out seeing the error log, but maybe your sandbox option failed? The mod generates a recipe using sandbox options.
Solaire May 30 @ 12:01pm
I have both required mods. It’s just red, saying error next to it. Can’t even see it in craft menu
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 30 @ 9:05am
If the mod is red you're most likely missing the required mods.
Solaire May 30 @ 7:14am
The error isn’t letting me craft the journal. Like when I open the mods menu in esc all I see is an error for skill recovery journal. Since that’s happening I can’t use the mod.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 30 @ 3:48am
Solaire- Id need to see the error.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 30 @ 3:48am
Eepayne- Check the FAQ.
Solaire May 29 @ 11:03pm
I'm on build 41 and for some reason the mod isn't working. It's saying error on my server. Any idea whats wrong?
ewpayne May 28 @ 12:20pm
Unsure after reading. If in an MP game, we have 3 characters who each grind on 3 different skills. Can we read each others' journals, in effect teaching the other 2 characters the skills they have grinded for?
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 27 @ 4:29pm
Unfortunately XP code can get pretty complex with how many things touch it. If you're not seeing XP match you may have a mod like more-traits that adds flat-XP.

The creates a situation were you get less XP. There's also other things people aren't aware of like how starting levels impact XP growth.
HaznutTv May 27 @ 10:19am
@Chuckleberry Finn. for some reason in my game the XP boosts don't reflect for me. is it a possible bug?
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 27 @ 9:37am
@Haznut - the XP boosts should be reflected I think? Otherwise you can stack them.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 27 @ 9:37am
@Orangeninja - Those broke when I redid the action code, I'll check it out when I have time.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 27 @ 9:36am
@Tclea - This should be fixed in the most recent patch -- unsure if I updated it.
HaznutTv May 27 @ 8:20am
is there any chance you can update the mod so it will hold knowledge from books as well so i don't need to re-read books again to get the additional xp, i can just read the journal and that's it
Orangeninja May 26 @ 10:41am
There is a bit of an issue i'm having, where the animations for writing in and reading the journal are broken. I'm on B42 in case that helps.
Tcela May 22 @ 10:45pm
Hi! There is a big exploit with the mod. The journal can be shared with more players if they use the same steamID. So if player A has aiming 10 and writes in the journal, he shares his steamid with Player B. Player B logs in using the steamid of Player A but with the username of Player B. Then, he can have all the xp from Player A. if can be fixed, will be great! thanks
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 22 @ 12:08pm
Yes
LeftyTwoGuns May 22 @ 11:22am
Does it work in unstable?
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 22 @ 9:48am
Not currently
ОКСАНА DESTROYER May 22 @ 9:15am
Is it possible to share the journal with your friends?
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 22 @ 8:15am
Yes
xDice May 22 @ 8:11am
can we update the journal ? ex. if we learn new skill or lvl up ?
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] May 20 @ 10:36am
No
Gojita May 20 @ 9:58am
Does updating the journal sandbox setting break the journal function for players?
