i'm not sure if i'm just dumb but i can't transcribe the notebook in the crafting menu
spacemuffin For 23 timer siden
it was the fast learner trait that was messing with it thanks for the help bud
spacemuffin For 23 timer siden
aahh right that would explain it thanks
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 16. juni kl. 12:32
Fast learner does impact what the journal does -- as the journal sticks to flat XP what you see depends on the traits - but in the end it's the same amount of XP.
spacemuffin 16. juni kl. 10:39
oh nah most of mine are cars, guns, and immersion type mods only boost to xp i have is fast learner not sure if that would do anything to it
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 16. juni kl. 7:51
If they add traits or mess with XP - like more traits. Those would be the the culprits.
spacemuffin 16. juni kl. 7:31
most of the mods i use are for immersion but one of them may conflict with it, thanks anyway bud
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 16. juni kl. 7:24
There's also other mods that cause issues/loss.
spacemuffin 16. juni kl. 7:20
i have sandbox settings set to 100 for exp retention is that correct setting? but if tv exp isnt part of that then that would explain the loss to relevent skills however i did loose 1 level to short blunt
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 16. juni kl. 6:28
TV earned XP is not kept by default, you'd need to change the sandbox for that.
spacemuffin 16. juni kl. 2:39
i use the diary every other day after reading, watching tv,bit of base building, cooking then i use transcribe before heading out on a loot run when i die i come back and regain recipes but always loose all my cooking, fishing and carpentry skills
Ryan 15. juni kl. 23:10
@spacemuffin you have to write your experience in diary did you write in diary daily?
spacemuffin 15. juni kl. 7:43
i dont think the mod is fully working for me i can re learn all the recipes ive learned but none of my exp ive earned in skills transfers over, im new to the game so death is a very good companion of mine lol

The mod is working well and still running normally. Sorry for not understanding the code and bothering you:DSTchester:
Hauntastic 15. juni kl. 1:55
Hi, love the mod. Excellent work however for some reason my journal stopped saving my weapon skills, specifically axe. Any thoughts?
Manyack 14. juni kl. 14:27
Hi, your mod isn't working for me. Version 041. I'm playing with two friends. I'm hosting, and the journal doesn't appear in the game's "B" menu, neither in English nor in my language (Spanish).
I've unsubscribed, resubscribed, deactivated it in the game's mods menu, reactivated it, and added your mod to the game (already started). But the journal still doesn't appear for crafting.

Thanks, and sorry for my poor English. I use Google Translate.

There should be more lines around the error showing the file line and name for the source.
Goe 11. juni kl. 17:45
I need help, I can't create a new notebook, I have everything I need, but when I create it, the only option to write in the bullet point is, it says it needs to be ready with a pen, which doesn't make sense since I haven't created the notebook yet.In old save it works, but nothing I create works, I need help because it really helps me a lot
Funky Toast 10. juni kl. 11:58
Seeing some one stand up to "mod packing" is great. thanks
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 7. juni kl. 3:47
Share the errors
Kleementin 7. juni kl. 3:38
This mod stops my crafting menu from coming up and gives me errors.
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 6. juni kl. 13:54
You should be able to transfer the player file over (atleast in MP)
Jaramon 6. juni kl. 13:12
This mod is an absolute NECESSITY for any of my SP/MP games in Zomboid. Many thanks Chuckleberry. One question - what would it take to make the journals import/export friendly? Maybe like an old school video game method where you type in a code and it puts the right amount of XP for each skill or something like that, rather than an apples to apples import.

I think it would be super cool to be able to continue my characters across any map or gamezone to keep a more "persistent" function. No items or even the character itself needs to transfer, just hopefully what comes in a journal (XP, recipes, zombie kills)
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 6. juni kl. 12:26
Thank you. :)
SnowBee 6. juni kl. 11:10
Just wanted to say thanks very much for this mod, and for maintaining it.
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 6. juni kl. 5:21
If the mod is added to an ongoing world the sandbox options may not be added correctly- I'm not sure why this would cause mismatched behavior between players (if that's what you're describing).
vShocke- 6. juni kl. 4:13
My friend has a problem with the mod — he's not getting his XP recovered from the TV, and in the settings I don't see the Skill Recovery Journal settings, even though I'm the owner of the server. Why is that? Do I need another mod to use this mod?
I'm also using the Error Magnifier mod. Yes, I added the mod in both the Steam Workshop settings and the mod settings, but it's still not working.
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 5. juni kl. 7:35
@kitkat - Great minds ;)
TacoJuans 4. juni kl. 16:59
is there a mod where i dont have to craft a book and record progress in? i want to just maintain my skills when i die...
Kitkat 4. juni kl. 14:47
bruh i told my friends about this idea for a mod i had and recited the EXACT idea for this mod like down to it being a journal and all damn... amazing.
dualfilter81 4. juni kl. 10:31
update: resub did not work but disabled the mod. loaded up the save. quit. enable mod. load up again and now works. thank you :)
dualfilter81 3. juni kl. 12:27
please help. b41, crafting menu opens on launch, no option to craft the journal [yes its enabled in settings], if i close it unable to re-open it. worked fine in previous run
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 3. juni kl. 11:01
Glad it worked!
Jake With a Hat 3. juni kl. 10:48
Scratch that I just erased and then re wrote the mod thing and loaded it again. For some reason it duplicated my save and I used the other one and now the mod is working in the save :) Thank you!
Jake With a Hat 3. juni kl. 10:36
Thanks for the super fast answer. I'm looking through the tab that specifically says skill recovery journal and everything is there, and I even tried the deleting 3 thing from one of the other tabs in the crafting recipe. Would it be in one of the more general sandbox options or is there perhaps another recipe I could try to make it appear?
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 3. juni kl. 9:35
There might be an issue with sandbox options- the recipe is generated from a sandbox option.
Jake With a Hat 3. juni kl. 9:11
Hi, thanks for all your work with this mod! I'm was wondering if there is any way to add this mod to a world in progress, as it's my first time trying Zomboid with my friends and I didn't quite set up the mods right the first time we played. I made a new world to test and found the journals recipe, but no matter what way I set it up the skill book tab/recipe won't appear in the already started run. Is there any other way to add it to an ongoing run other then what is in the FAQ? Thanks again!

Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 30. maj kl. 12:24
I can only guess with out seeing the error log, but maybe your sandbox option failed? The mod generates a recipe using sandbox options.
Solaire 30. maj kl. 12:01
I have both required mods. It’s just red, saying error next to it. Can’t even see it in craft menu
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 30. maj kl. 9:05
If the mod is red you're most likely missing the required mods.
Solaire 30. maj kl. 7:14
The error isn’t letting me craft the journal. Like when I open the mods menu in esc all I see is an error for skill recovery journal. Since that’s happening I can’t use the mod.
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 30. maj kl. 3:48
Solaire- Id need to see the error.
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 30. maj kl. 3:48
Eepayne- Check the FAQ.
Solaire 29. maj kl. 23:03
I'm on build 41 and for some reason the mod isn't working. It's saying error on my server. Any idea whats wrong?
ewpayne 28. maj kl. 12:20
Unsure after reading. If in an MP game, we have 3 characters who each grind on 3 different skills. Can we read each others' journals, in effect teaching the other 2 characters the skills they have grinded for?
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 27. maj kl. 16:29
Unfortunately XP code can get pretty complex with how many things touch it. If you're not seeing XP match you may have a mod like more-traits that adds flat-XP.

The creates a situation were you get less XP. There's also other things people aren't aware of like how starting levels impact XP growth.
HaznutTv 27. maj kl. 10:19
@Chuckleberry Finn. for some reason in my game the XP boosts don't reflect for me. is it a possible bug?
Chuckleberry Finn  [ophavsmand] 27. maj kl. 9:37
@Haznut - the XP boosts should be reflected I think? Otherwise you can stack them.
