I am reporting the same issue as what @smileyblacksun has. No console logs.

I'm getting an issue where the rod will attract the lighting bolt, but instead of absorbing it it will strike the ground the point of the rod is over and start a fire. (lighting rod is not over charged, and is hooked up to power network).

Anybody else see this or is it just my setup?

So would they just attract lightning from the general area? As in "20 tiles around the rod, when a lightning would strike, it strikes the rod instead"?

And I also was confused about the energy thing, but now I understand that there are 2 versions of the rod. :)

@Futstub What part of the description is unclear? You stop fires from being started by lightining and you get free power from the advanced version.

THANK YOU. I'm quite sick of my animal pen getting struck with lightning. Especially when I've got a dozen Boomalopes in that sucker.

Do the effects of the lightning rod stack? Like, two would give me a seventy-five percent chance to negate lightning strikes, and so on?

@Kahi - Flavious Vile You missed the first step. Test with only this mod loaded. If it works its not this mod but a conflict with one of your other mods

It doesn't give a crash log, I added this mod and it leaves me with a black screen upon launching the game. I remove the mod and the game boots up fine. I do run other mods, but this one made it blank out.

Tried it again, Powered Lightning Rod still catching on fire every time, getting colonists hit by lightning.

@Zonk: Yeah it was a weird combination of the fact that the rod would catch fire, and that lightning would hit the whole area around the rod instead of just the rod itself. So rather than protect my base from lightning, the rod just ended up guaranteeing that ALL the lightning was more likely to hit someone.

I will try it out again and see how it works now. Thank you Mlie!

Found the issue, the lighning code had changed in the game. Should work better now

First of all thx for the mod. I like it.

But I'm nto sure if this is intentional, the thing @Omega13 writes about. When lightning strikes the rod it starts fire. My pawn rushes to put it out, which is fine, as it's dry thunderstorm. But it kinda beats the purpose of these rods if they catch fire after attracting lightning. Is that intentional or is it some kind of bug?

So, I remember back in the day the lightning did NOT damage the lightning rod or start fires.

The problem with adding this "balance" is that it means now when the rod gets hit, someone will run over to repair it or put out the fire, and then immediately get hit by lightning.

Just my experience.

This mod + weather generator event that locks the weather to rainy thunderstorms generates so much power that it tripled the power generation of my colony after I built two lightning rods, it's pretty crazy lol

Yes, but going into no power mode has such a low chance to attract the lightning and has a long cooldown
