sexpanther, set out of possession defensive line to deep to stop running in behind with long balls ... only need to do this where teams have fast forwards, like Vardy at Leicester where they look for long balls in behind
You can try my new 4-3-3 tactic that I'm having success with at the moment. Will update with more screenshots once I find the time to finish the season. So far the tactic has won every game I've played including a 3-2 win over Leicester. Currently sitting top of the Championship 10 games in.

Personally I've not played in the Swedish league. But I have a save with an English team that were in the lowest English starting league and I used this tactic to take them to the Premier League. I got back to back promotions by signing a new starting 11 every season and selling players for profit to increase my salary cap. One thing tho, in the lower leagues players are not capable of playing a (CD) Ball Playing Defender role for example so you will need to change that to Central Defender. Also the (LW) & (RW) positions might be hard to find an Inverted Winger/Inside Forward at that level and will probably have to change that to Winger role instead. Also the (MC) position might need to be changed from Advanced Playmaker to Ball Winning Midfielder. Every other position should be easy enough to find players to fill the roles.
Oh, yes it will work mate. I usually go for inverted winger 1st, inside forward 2nd, winger 3rd.
Yes I uploaded this tactic for FM20 when it was first released. Just go to the tactic workshop menu and it's number 1 most downloaded for FM20 also.
If you like you can inbox me some screenshots and then i'll be able to tell you exactly what's wrong. From what you said, it sounds like a confidence issue.
If you get a bad result and react negatively in the team talk after the match the players confidence will drop. If you have a run of bad results and keep reacting negatively then yes things will happen like you said. I've also had the same issue as you but it's easy to get out of. If you lose against and team you really should be winning against then yes react negatively. But if it's a bigger team than you with better players just say they are unlucky or they gave it their best effort.
Please also read my tips above in the tactic description as they might help,
@chapel.xavier - i guess you are talking about my man utd save? look at the date on the top right hand corner, the screen shot was taken at the start of the second season.. i had 4 transfer windows to buy and sell players to get this team set up.. it's very easy to build a good team if you know how.. for example a player costs 20 million.. you can offer just 7 million upfront, and then 13 million over 12 months, this will only take around 7-8 million out of your transfer budget.. meaning you can buy more players with a smaller budget. also if your board gives you 100% money back of all the players you sell.. you can potentially bring in a whole new team if the players you are selling are valuable
Haha cheers mate. I've done similar things to make the game more challenging. Only being able to sign players that nationality is within the UK was a fun save. Only being able to sign players on free transfers was also another good one.
@roddyart1st
Just as much as any other tactic. I rotate players in if a player is becoming tired. If you check your inbox you will receive an in-game email regarding this. It will tell you on match day how many minutes a player is recommended to start or not, how many minutes you should sub them off at, etc.
@maxanthonycutter
I've never tested that as the whole point was to make it an attacking tactic. Most likely it wouldn't work as the AMC is often the player with the most assists I find each season. If you want the tactic to be more defensive you can change the two center midfielders to a Ball Winning Midfielder (defensive) and Deep Lying Playmaker (defensive).
At the end of the season I've checked the stats and I've got around a 70-80% win ratio depending on what team I manage. Please note I am very adapt in the transfer market, most saves I sign at least 5-10 new players that completely change the look of the team. I also pretty much always sack my entire backroom team and bring in new staff that are way better quality.
At the end of the day you need to find a tactic that plays in the style of football that you like. This tactic is very inspired by the Ferguson era of all out attack, Klopp's high press and Guardiola's tika taka. Personally I'd rather go all out and attack then park the bus and lose. If your into that style then give it a go. The chance it will work for you as it has done for me and so many others is still very high. But is this tactic invincible? No it's not and I'm glad that's it not. The highs and the lows of the game is what makes the game fun and challenging.
I rarely play FM at the moment and so don't have much interest in updating the tactic. Whilst the tactic is not as strong as it was for the first 6 months of release, I have tested it on multiple saves in the last two month's and it still works very well.
I've tested around 30 tactic in total in this years FM and my honest opinion is that it's still the best. The tactic is super high pressing and attacking, so be warned if your up against a team that has better players than yours, and they are currently in form, there's a big chance you will concede goals on the oppositions counter attack. There is also the yellow card issue as players are instructed to dive in both on the tactic and at each individual position.
Both guys are playing absolutely shit, because I love Rashford I'm gonna give him another season to prove himself because he was playing striker for me before I tried this tactic out, but Kulusevski can cut he's rubbish!
I use the TCS '21 v1.1 skin from FMScout and it says in the player description if he's a striker or a winger. Strikers Ill set them as IF if they can play on the wing, Marcus Rashford for example. Wingers I'll set to IW, Jadon Sancho for example. Yeah player stats and traits have a huge impact. Simply select the position inside a players tan and the skin will highlight what stats are important to a player who plays there. Then you can go to your scouting tab and search for players with those stats. Obviously you will need to fully scout them. Off the top of my head.. flair, pace, acceleration, technical, agility, finishing, composure, crossing are essential stats for wingers.
Thanks for the suggestions! Meaning by using IF a player should have a good finishing? How about IW? Having a good finishing for both IW/IF contribute great success for your tactic?
Because I used your tactic for quite sometime, currently using BVB and Haaland contribute huge amount of goals, but not from IW/IF though, considering I bought players that have finishing of 14 and above. But if I used Liverpool, Salah have the highest no of goals though but not for Mane haha.
Do you reckon player traits do play a major role in this situation? any specific of traits that we need to look for IW/IF player? Thanks!
If you have started a new save with a team with high reputation and your manager reputation is low, to begin with don't slam your team in team talks if you dont get the result you expect. I wrote about this in the notes above ^^ This is a common mistake many people make, morale is everything in this years FM and if its low then you will go on a shit streak of results even if your tactic and players are quality.
3) Go to your dynamics tab and look at your managerial support. If your “Managerial Support” is in the red it means currently the players don't trust you. Don't be harsh on them during team talks whilst in the red else they will quickly lose faith in you and morale will drop fast.
Personally I prefer IW. If the player I'm playing in that position is more of Striker than a Winger, I'll change it to IF. I've had better results with IW tho I reckon, try to find fast wingers, with high technical ability that are good at crossing. The left IW needs to be right footed, or able to use both feet even better. The right IW needs to be left footed and able tor use both feet even better.
I had enjoyed success using your tactic. Just wondering that you mentioned LW/RW can be changed from IW to IF. Do you have any preferences? Which one works better or both also good? Thanks!
I only woried about the fitness levels of stamina, any ideas??
are you using a MacBook Pro by any chance? if so that's why it aint working.
@橋本 環奈 fan acct
I've been playing recently and the original Deep Lying Playmaker on the left side and Advanced Playmaker on the right side of the central midfield works better imo.
so i dont know what more to do
