Good evening. Great mod idea - thanks for the hard work. A quick question. Is it possible within the configs to restrict a class to only be able to use the battle rifle and not the cannon? I am using a "Heavy" class which can use cannons - but I would like to limit it to just battle rifles.

I'm trying to tweak the Strike Rifles to only take one turn to fire, would changing their class to rifle be enough? or would i have to tweak something else as well?

Not sure if this is possible (or allowed by the author of Wolf's asset pack), but is it not possible to publish a "Wolf's Asset pack for LWOTC" without the conflicting files. So that any lwotc mod can depend on that for a "subscribe & play" experience (also for collections), instead of always including a "manually solve these conflicts instruction".

Anyone know if this works with Iridar's 5 tier weapons mod? I've been looking for an LMG for Cannon replaced for a while and this seems to be the only one I can find.

To anyone else who comes after me: Found the solution. First, DL Another of Iridars mods, here:

And then add this line to the config:

+CHANGE_TEMPLATE=(TEMPLATE=WEAPON_NAME, SET_WEAPON_CAT=CANNON)

Where you replacce "WEAPON_NAME" with whatever you want to swap, and then the type you're changing to on the other side of the equal sign.

Did you even manage to find that option? I'd like to do the exact same thing. Kiruka, many thanks for all your hard work! Can you help us out here? I'd like other classes to be able to equip Battle Rifles. Where is the option to change its class from Cannon to Rifle?

I've reached a point that I simply could not imagine not using this mod anymore. Battle Rifle really pairs amazingly well with your Heavy class specced towards overwatch and suppression, the Strike Rifle lets me use some of my favorite sniper characters even in missions where they would otherwise simply not be viable. Thank you for making this mod, it has become an essential one to me.

Love the battle rifle but have no sound effect when using suppression skill - anything else works. Any ideas?

I'm looking to do exactly what you mention in your last comment - cange the Battle Rifle's weapon category to Rifle, but I cannot find where to do this in the configs - I had assumed it would be in the XcomBSR_BRSR_BattleRifles_Options.ini wih the other weapon data, but I don't see it. I could just allow various classes to equip cannons to get the same effect, but I'd rather change the weapon category to avoid Armory clutter. Could you please point me to where to make this change?

@Arkay You would either need to allow Rangers to equip Cannons, or allow Gunners to equip Rifles after changing the Battle Rifle's weapon category to Rifle.

This is amazing work, being able to have something akin to Strike Rifle Scout builds from LW1 is already such a relief for me.

I'm curious though, is there any way to make the Battle Rifles work on LWOTC Ranger class as well as Gunners?

I noticed the Juggernaught uses the Gauntlet, and thus has flamethrower perks.... do these apply too the Underbarrel Flamethrower aswell?! (when using Mod Jam for LWOTC?)

@123nick The Heavy is a good example, as is the Gunner from LWOTC. Both of them have a lot of emphasis on Suppression, but they can still be good at regular Overwatch.

However, Russian Roulette isn't the only advantage of the Battle Rifle; it's also the only Cannon-class weapon that can use Underbarrels and Bayonets. Shadow Ops' Juggernaut can certainly put an underbarrel flamethrower to good use.

Any good classes that make use of a Cannon while also having good overwatch perks? for me, the problem with battle rifles is i rarely have a class that can use em properly. my best option id think is the Heavy for LWOTC which has holo-targetting and some other overwatch perk i cant remember right now, but thats it.

My biggest concern is that, a battle rifle from the LW2 mod (assault rifle but with +1dmg, -1mob, -1clip size) is not there, and tbh is nowhere to be found.. Any idea on how to change the battle rifle (which is a sniper gun here) into the bulky assault rifle?

Found the problem, new to the alternative mod launcher, didn't realise it hides mods no longer in use. Must of happened when I was messing around with mod selection. Works perfectly fine now :steamthumbsup:

New campaign, I looked through the categories available, the conventional tier don't appear in either the cannon or sniper rifle selections

@El Psy Congroo Is this a new campaign or an existing campaign? In order for the conventional versions to appear you need a new campaign. Higher tiers should show up as buildable in Engineering if you have appropriate research done.

No idea about Tactical Armoury UI, I don't use it.

@El Psy Congroo This mod doesn't add new weapon categories. The Battle Rifle is in the cannon category, and the Strike Rifle is in the sniper_rifle category.

Hi there, I noticed that when this mod is on a lot of perk icons for Chimera and maybe some other classes that use Ketaros' 2d icons have broken icons because of it. This is after following the instructions left in the LWOTC Discord for the Wolf's assets mod. Taking out the files specified for that mod did nothing, but removing Ketaros from this fixed numerous abilities' icons being broken, especially CC Shinobi/Wraith.

This is when it loads after Chimera. Can anyone else confirm this?

Hi Kiruka, I saw in an earlier post you made that there are some config updates needed to switch the higher-tier versions from being single-item builds into a squad upgrade - I've been looking into the documentation for WSR but I'm not quite sure how to go about making this change. If you have a spare few minutes, would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

To simulate Battle Rifle LW1 behavior, you could do something like give it an innate aim penalty of -10, but also have it come with a clone of the Steady Hands ability (for primary only). I don't really care to make that myself though. I have a lot of projects on the go already.

If you know your way around using WSR you can get the limited squadsight in the form of the Marksman ability from the SpecOps class . Just attach it to the cannons you wanna use as LMGs and disable the class itself if you just want the perk. Dunno about anything that replicates Battle Rifle behavior tho.

Would it be possible to give the strike rifles and LMGs limited squadsight and the BR's lowered accuracy if fired after moving like they had in the last couple LW1 builds? ive always wanted a faithful remake for the LW1 weapon set, but I dont think i've see it. I know this is probably out of the scope of your mod but as far as I can tell it would require some scripting and yours seems to be the only LW1-esque weapon mod to have more in depth abilities than just stat edits

I wanted some of the new guns to give +1 mobility and u suggested giving them Sprinter via WSR in the ABBA comment section so I looked into it, seems to work fine (already did the same for guns in this mod as well XD). Everything seems to be working fine now - didn't do much so idk, just resubscribed to ABBA and did the exact same config changes and it works🤷‍♂️ Thanks for the offer tho <3

BTW not sure if you caught it already but the laser strike rifle seems to have wrong suppressor model assigned - rn it has the one that's meant for the normal laser rifle (I think the pulser uses that one or similar) so it's wide instead of long and glitches through the sides of the barrel instead of extending it ^^

@ptr I used ABBA's conventional LMG for testing some issues I was having with visual attachments very recently (around the same time I released this mod). New campaign, all of the conventional weapons for ABBA as well as the Battle Rifle and Strike Rifle showed up. I have a fairly long list of mods myself.

You mention "giving the LMG a Sprinter". I take it you used WSR or something to add the Sprinter ability to it? I can take a look at your personal configs if you want a second pair of eyes on it.

OH! You're right, I only looked for the conventional ones, didn't think about checking if I can build lasers😳 mb😅 Man those strike rifles look sexy 😍😍

Also, apparently this mod is not responsible for ABBA LMG not appearing - started a new campaign with it disabled and LMG is still gone. I'm off to determine if it's some other of my many mods or if it was I who fucked up something when giving the LMG a Sprinter.

@ptr For existing campaigns, the conventional weapons won't show up since they're set to be starting items with infinite quantity. All of the other tiers should be showing up as you unlock them.

@Kiruka I added your mod (and Wolfs amazing Asset Pack) alongside ABBA assuming they're compatible and have two problems: 1. doesn't load into a running campaign, which is meh, but hey, I can start another one, again. But then 2. in the new one Light Machine Gun from ABBA is not available for my gunner, just isn't there, not even greyed-out. Only the vanilla one unlockable via TLP. Heh, I even wanted to ask earlier if the mods are compatible but them both being yours... 🤷‍♂️😂
