@GladioSanctus Witchcraft is a very active magic mod for CK2, and both the Godherja and Elder Kings 2 total conversion mods have well built Magic mechanics.

why is every magic mod dead for this game...?
Lord von Games Jul 5, 2024 @ 9:24am
Indeed... who's going to accept the resurrection challenge with the follow through of keeping it up... ?
Elidurden123 Apr 21, 2024 @ 10:47pm
Really annoying how so many great mods seem to die month or year into a PRDX game's lifecycle. You can almost set a calendar to how common it is.....
DKON Mar 30, 2024 @ 10:17pm
This mods seems dead? That's so sad this is exactly the magic realism mod I wanted!
Boss Mar 21, 2024 @ 3:15am
Got bizarre "Sappho" witch mod that makes no thematic sense, but Ars Magica that is LITERALLY based around Medieval Europe gets zero attention. Sucks.
Melganor Sep 20, 2023 @ 3:26am
We need somone to resurect this mod.

doesnt even show the "mage" of "the gift" trait to get me started. Was trying to use this to see how many trees I can have without having to make a scroll bar, but even the most basic part of the mod, the trait that grants you access to the rest of this mod, is just... Not there.

Damn that's such a shame that this mod is dead. I really hope someone picks it up and makes a fork! Looks like it has so much potential.
lanypop Mar 19, 2021 @ 9:15pm
lemme look into the mod. Wanna revive this... unless it's too complicated :(
NelsonPCarr Dec 6, 2020 @ 10:18am
On discord, it seems that the mod is now abandoned.

I hope someone could get the project going

Dr. Nornin Nov 27, 2020 @ 7:43am
So, how goes work on the mod?
Haerzog Oct 25, 2020 @ 9:24pm
Looking forward to being able to blend this and world of darkness into one game.
NelsonPCarr Oct 24, 2020 @ 10:01am
Any news about the mod?
El Chapo Oct 18, 2020 @ 2:29pm
will this be updated?
Z3nr0ku Oct 10, 2020 @ 9:25am
well it finally showed a lifestyle tree for magic.
vzellmeister  [author] Oct 10, 2020 @ 8:13am
@Z3nr0ku It is not playable yet, as per the description. First more-or-less playable version should be out in one week, hopefully. That will have only the first few spells available and nothing else. I am working as the single dev on this so it moves quite slowly, unfortunately.
Z3nr0ku Oct 9, 2020 @ 11:10am
I pressed become magus and nothing happened

Thanks, @DenverZeppo! Also thank you for letting me know about the link! I updated the description with a permanent one.

As a tabletop RPG nerd this excites me. :) Can't wait. (Also, Discord link has expired.)

pat.plus.rick Sep 29, 2020 @ 3:23pm
Really awesome idea, so much potential here. Can't wait to see what you do with this!
vzellmeister  [author] Sep 29, 2020 @ 2:58pm
@Strix6969 Great suggestion! Just created the server and added the link to the mod's description

Hey man, I'm willing to offer my services to help out with the modding process! DM me anytime
Jak Sep 28, 2020 @ 2:28am
This idea is so good, and it's nice to see that people are willing to help you out.

As people stated before the potential is amazing, you just have to stay with it, it'll take time but if you are able to pull this off this will be one of the best mods for CK3.
Get a grip. Sep 27, 2020 @ 7:12pm
Yo this is epic, thank you so much for making this.
vzellmeister  [author] Sep 27, 2020 @ 6:24pm
@Dementia5 認知症 I'm going to use 5th edition as much as I can. However, some of the tribunals were only described in detail in previous editions. For those cases I'll use the most recent materials I can find.
Dementia5 認知症 Sep 27, 2020 @ 4:59am
Which version of Ars Magika? Most recent? Or is that irrelevant?
LordSith Sep 27, 2020 @ 3:24am
Nice idea!
NelsonPCarr Sep 26, 2020 @ 4:56pm
Great to see that a lot of people are showing up to help @vzellmeister

The potential for this mod is amazing.

Imagine some sagas developing from time to time with random events? And your future generation algo being a mage and all that...

The game has so much to do with Crusader Kings.

But this is as challenging as it is aewsome. It would be an almost 100% overhaul.

Gonna need a lot of work and experienced people involved. Its a shame that I am useless and can only cheer for you guys...
Necronto  [author] Sep 26, 2020 @ 9:51am
Ars Magica 5th edition is my favourite ttrpg, i know you've already got people offering help with the lore side of things, but if you want/need an additional person to dig through mechanics and the world of ars i will happily help, i have access to nigh on all of the 5th ed source books
I'm not familiar with modding but I am good at dredging through rules to find things, I'm also part of a large ars magica game so i can run stuff past them as well
Sibling Apex Sep 26, 2020 @ 3:22am
No idea what Ars Magica is but this sounds amazing.
Virsia Sep 26, 2020 @ 1:10am
this sounds amazing I smell heavy scripting will be underway to match faithfully with Ars Magica since one event could potentially leads to dozens outcome since it is tabletop, I don't know much about modding in CK 3 although the code seems more or less about the same as CK 2, in previous game I mostly doing gfx mod art like traits and artifact.
vzellmeister  [author] Sep 25, 2020 @ 9:19am
@OrdinalChaos just sent you a friend request. It'd be lovely to have someone else involved in the project. There's a TON of work to do.
NelsonPCarr Sep 24, 2020 @ 7:27pm
@OrdinalChaos

Perhaps you can help him with the mod. If not with technical help about modding, but at least providing more lore info on more detailed things. Sorry my bad english.
OrdinalChaos Sep 24, 2020 @ 5:29pm
looking forward to this, I just recently started getting into Ars Magica myself and have 13 of the books so far. I was actually considering doing something like this myself but I'm a noob at modding and starting with what almost amounts to a total conversion didn't seem like the best idea to me.
Just a note though, while a few magical traditions don't require the gift, most do; even the non-hermetic ones. Out of the books I have, there is a lot of info on hedge magic in Houses of Hermes Societates, in the section about house Ex Miscelanea, of particular interest is how a hedge tradition can be integrated into hermetic magic in the section: The Lineage of Pralix. I don't know how much of the source material you have access to or how deep your knowledge of the setting is but if you'd like some help on that front I'd be happy to help.
Plebeian Kilo Sep 23, 2020 @ 7:07pm
Well I hope you succeed sir it sounds amazing.
vzellmeister  [author] Sep 23, 2020 @ 5:46pm
@KingKilo right now, very little. I am still toying with ways to implement the magic system. Posting this here was more of a way to keep me motivated and accountable so I wouldn't drop the development midway.
NelsonPCarr Sep 23, 2020 @ 11:23am
I hope you succeed with this! I love Ars Magica!
Plebeian Kilo Sep 23, 2020 @ 9:18am
looks interesting, what is included so far?
vzellmeister  [author] Sep 23, 2020 @ 6:20am
To your point, @PakmunD and @viranto: in the Ars Magica lore not everyone can use hermetic magic; to do so, one must possess "The Gift", a powerful connection to the Magic Realm. The Gift is very rare, so magi (plural for "magus", Ars Magica uses a lot of Latin) have to search far and wide for gifted children to take on as apprentices.

Now, there are "hedge mages" and "wizards" (as the members of the Order of Hermes would call them) in Mythic Europe. These are practicioners of lesser magics which don't require The Gift to be learned and so are commensurately less powerful.
PakmunD Sep 23, 2020 @ 6:06am
Great idea and I agree with viranto. It would be good if it only happen when you have some "talent" or genetic traits.
viranto Sep 23, 2020 @ 1:53am
Really nice idea. But i don't know if i would like it when everyone can learn magic.
Its of course not my mod, but i would like it when you can only be a magican, when you get it through a bloodline/ genetic, or because you are a choosen one by a concil of magicans (like pope) and such things. But i really looking forward to this mod. Sounds amazing and i love real history with some low fantasy elements.
