No problem, I appreciate your work and hope you continue to release great vehicle replacement and other mods for this game. And behavior trees are one of the techniques I was thinking of using so I've been researching how those are implemented in other games. I think Bungie were some of the first developers to implement AI behavior trees with Halo, they can be quite effective in approximating more advanced unit behavior. Thanks for the discussion and good luck! :)

However I'd have a look into behaviour trees, that would be a cool thing to implement and sounds like something that would suit your needs. Understanding C++ unfortunately is a personal endeavour but OOP theory you gained from python is directly transferable.

If you're asking me if I want to collaborate. No thanks. I'm happy just doing my own thing at the moment.

I've been working on implementing an improved primary + secondary ground unit weapons system with dynamic unit AI weapon switching based on target discrimination in Tiberian Dawn by editing the TD.DLL code, but I've spent most of my time making this mod since launch of C&C: Remastered just reading through the extensive source code and trying to plan the logic needed to implement the new system properly. I'm a programmer with years of experience in Python and Fortran, but I'm not very knowledgeable of C++, so that's why I'm on the lookout for potential mod collaborators. :)

Perhaps you should try your hand at making a mod and having a go at it:)

Ultimately, despite the C&C Gold manual's retconned lore of Nod being supplied by US defense contractors (which is not very plausible), I've always wanted to see Nod equipped with mostly Soviet-era vehicles for the bulk of their forces in addition to some of their own novel vehicles and weapons (rocket buggy, flame tank, obelisk, SSM, etc..). And if all of these vehicle and weapon modifications could be made compatible with the excellent "Unit Veterancy and More" mod for TD, I'd be extremely happy. :)

Agreed, it would be excellent to switch the Apache or Apache Longbow over to the GDI faction and add the Ka-50, Ka-52, or an Mi-24 variant to the Nod faction to compensate. I would recommend keeping the Orca in the hands of the GDI faction, and maybe adding a mobile SAM vehicle like Tor or Tunguska to the Nod faction to counter-balance GDI's attack helicopter double-threat. :)

That is an interesting idea, perhaps also give GDI the Apache and replace that with a Kamov Ka-50 or Mi-24 Hind

This is awesome, as are all of your other vehicles! My dream is to add the M2A3 Bradley IFV to the GDI faction and equip it with a Bushmaster II 25 mm autocannon with AP rounds as its primary weapon and equip it with a very slow-reloading but accurate and very long-range ATGM similar to the two TOW-II it fires in real life. It would be the perfect support unit to accompany GDI medium tank formations to help them destroy infantry and light armored targets in addition to enemy heavy armored targets. Right now the GDI faction is lacking an armored vehicle with this capability, making GDI medium tank formations pretty vulnerable to infantry mg and rocket attacks. If the M2A3 Bradley was added to GDI, then Nod should receive a vehicle based on the Soviet BMP-2 or BMP-3, which has similar weapons (a 30 mm autocannon primary weapon plus ATGMs as its secondary).

Hehe, the quality is getting there now and they are close. However while I'd love to release each unit incrementally, I've decided to package them all together as one unit replacer mod. This prevents flooding the marketplace and the inconvenience to the player to have to sift through to find each unit.

I just saw your progress with your unit replacements on the pp Forum.
All i 've got to say is: STOP TEASING MY MAN! :lunar2019deadpanpig:

For the love of chaos, i stopped playing C&C altogether now because what's the point in playing right now with those lame ass units, when i could have awesome replacements?!

Seriously, you need to release that stuff soon or else i'm going mad.
I may end up bombing a grain trade center in vienna, if not careful.

Rock On!
Mortecha  [author] Aug 16, 2020 @ 6:36am
Not misunderstood at all, I'll get there, I want to get to all of them eventually.
NatEff3ct Aug 14, 2020 @ 7:17pm
This is awesome don't misunderstand, but I feel Red Alert is where this is needed especially the ships!! They look terrible and always have, the upscale didn't help them... :-(

Going for the ugly ones first, Have done the Gunboat already as well but have come across an interesting bug of sorts so still figuring that out. https://ppmforums.com/topic-53996/unit-replacement-updates-and-progress-thread/ .

As for the main units, still deciding if I want to go the full remap route (Have the whole vehicle in the team color) or an RA2 styled scheme of keeping the faction colour with some key parts remap, both work, and not sure if I want to make a soviet vehicle theme for NOD as they would have more of those instead of the more cutting edge stuff from the US. But more than likely will have both options as separate mods as hey NOD as is in TD is cool and it doesn't have to make sense because C&C. Almost forgot, there's also the Renegade route as well, Renegade units as TD units because the events of both games are happening simultaneously. :KaneLives:
REH_BlackJack Aug 8, 2020 @ 2:41am
Dude ....
This is totaly wicked, but why the focus on these "throw-away" units? First NOD's cargo plane, now this?!

Why do i have the feeling, you're holding something back, something truely astonishing?
If i was a betting person, i'd put 5 bucks in, saying we're gonna' see a return of the Bradley. :lunar2019coolpig:
