Tab-sorting

@Mlie:
Sorry to come back to the topic of the 'Better Architect Menu'.

It's a great mod that I'd really like to use.
It is stated that 'Tab-sorting' is compatible with it (with one exception):
'Works with tab sorting, but disables "hide empty categories".'

Unfortunately, this is only partly true.
Firstly, if 'Remove empty categories after sorting' is selected, Ferny's mod breaks down and entire categories (e.g. the crucial 'Manage' category, in which all orders are subsumed) are no longer displayed.
I don't think you'll be able to fix this.

Additionally, multiple categories are displayed, even if they are empty.
'Hide empty categories' does nothing in this case, and due to the above, removing them entirely isn't an option.

What *could* be an option though, would be if you would add a possibility to *delete* certain categories.
The mod already provides an option to create new ones.
Being able to delete them seems like a logical addition.

I'm with Dman, allowing players to pick what is and isn't shown would be a great help :0

if i may add to the convo about Better Architect Menu. if you could made it possible to manually select what tab you want hidden and what tab you don't, it would solve the problem of full compatible (and possibly any future "mod list sorting" mod problems)

It does work when arranging items not in the "Tab-sorting" menu
Mlie  [author] Sep 8 @ 7:54am
@Pepperoncino There already should be drag and drop support when sorting
Pepperoncino Sep 8 @ 7:49am
Unrelated to my previous issues, is there any plans to add drag and drop functionality to tab rearanging, because I do not think the buttons are working as well when there is lot of tabs present. I have created my own category farming and was trying to move it upwards but the button would not always do that.
Pepperoncino Sep 8 @ 7:15am
ah, I noticed now that they added other mods, I thought this was some kind of issue with interaction between the two mods. My bad.
Mlie  [author] Sep 8 @ 7:04am
@Pepperoncino The modpage states that its not compatible with that setting in this mod and others.
Mlie  [author] Sep 8 @ 6:20am
@Pepperoncino Please link to the mod you are talking about
Pepperoncino Sep 8 @ 5:11am
its called Better Architect Menu
Mlie  [author] Sep 8 @ 5:07am
@Pepperoncino I dont know what "Fernys new mod is"
Pepperoncino Sep 8 @ 5:01am
is there reason why when I tick "remove empty tabs after sorting", it disappears the "Store" category of the Ferny's new mod ? It clearly has stuff in it, but still it goes poof. Probably along with other options because I can't find comms either. I get that in his mod it is said to turn off this option but then I come into issue that it also shows tabs that are genuinely empty.

Would be really nice to have an easier way of sorting things inside tabs. Currently, the dragging is a bit buggy (doesn't seem to reliably drag past the viewable portion of the window). My dream is marrying this mod with ferny's Drag Sorting. Or maybe you could add similar functionality? Thanks for your hard work!
DawnsGlow Aug 30 @ 9:03am
Okay, I'll ask ferny.
Mlie  [author] Aug 30 @ 9:01am
@DawnsGlow No idea, havent seen any of those
DawnsGlow Aug 30 @ 8:56am
Is this mod compatible with ferny's category series mods ? eg : Lighting Category mod, Transport Category mod, etc
Mlie  [author] Aug 26 @ 2:53pm
@Virtuous No, only empty tabs are removed
Virtuous Aug 26 @ 2:19pm
any way to hide tabs even if they have something in them?
Mlie  [author] Aug 23 @ 2:39pm
@Eclipse I dont know what that is
Eclipse Aug 23 @ 1:47pm
Is it possible to make it compatible with drag sorting?
Reverie Aug 21 @ 11:08am
If anyone else ever wonders - I just went to the Dubs Skylights mod and edited the .xml file label and it worked.
Reverie Aug 21 @ 8:48am
Oh, but is there a way to rename the tab at least? I could shove something into those skylights tab if I could rename it to farming or something :D I seem to recall doing something like that in the past, but for the life of me, I can't remember how...
Reverie Aug 21 @ 8:37am
Hmm, damn. Well, guess all I can do is send you some good brainy vibes and hope you figure out of how to deal with those pesky orders once. Thanks for the reply!
Mlie  [author] Aug 21 @ 7:25am
@Reverie 1. This is due to them being orders and not buildables. Orders are not things in the game but added to each architect menu in various ways. I have yet to come up with a good way to handle these.
2. Not really, if you have the option to remove empty menus after sorting they will not be shown in game but the settings gui will always show all tabs to enable sorting things into them.
Reverie Aug 21 @ 7:19am
I'll preface this with saying: this is the most need-to-have mod in existence for me. I love it. That being said, I've a couple questions:

1. Is there a way to display and move "deconstruct" buttons? A good example would be trying to move Dubs Skylights (just 4 items) from their separate tab to some other (let's say Misc.). I can move the lights, but the tab is still present and it has "Deconstruct Skylight" button inside it that I don't know how to move. I think it also happens with any mod that adds new pipes (like Ushanka's Luciferium Imperium and the like).

2. Is there a way to remove emptied tabs in the sorting menu in mod settings? Minor thing, it's just clutter, no biggie anyway.
Schadenfreude Aug 14 @ 6:33am
Did this break on the latest patch? I don't see the arrows to rearrange the tab positions anymore.
LAFFEN Aug 3 @ 3:17pm
@Mile I think all cases of Korean.

For example, I created a tab '설비' (which means facility in Korean) to move the structures added in a mod other than the walls and doors, such as roofs, stairs, and so on to another tab. But it said it's a tab that already exists, even if the basic structure tab of Rimworld is called '구조물'.

Regardless of these examples, tab creation was not possible with all the Korean I created.
Mlie  [author] Aug 3 @ 12:15am
@LAFFEN I dont know Korean, perhaps you could post what names you where trying to use so I have something to test with?
LAFFEN Aug 2 @ 5:11pm
Hello, I'm a Korean Rimworld user.

First of all, I would like to say thank you for updating my favorite mods to 1.6. But unfortunately, I can create a new tab in English, but when I create a new tab in Korean, another language, can't create a new tab because system message said it already has a tab with the same name. Even though it's not really like that at all.

It seems to be part of the bug, so I'd appreciate it if you could take a look.

Thanks ever so much, you're a real star!
Mad Jul 27 @ 2:00am
@Mlie Yeah I figured that the moment I realized it dubs.. sorry for not testing more before first commenting.

By the way I have to say that the tab-sorting functionality from this mod does work with dubs, and works way better than the "pin" functionality of his. to me this alone makes this mod worth being subscribed to.

Thanks for your time mate!
Mlie  [author] Jul 27 @ 1:55am
@Mad Yea, dubs overrules anything in this mod I think
Mad Jul 27 @ 1:49am
anyway I actually made a mistake, UInotincluded is actually compatible with this mod. it will just affect the bottom bar and keep all the rest of the features from this mod intact.

the incompatibility was actually when used alongside Dubs Mint Menus. the tab-sorting functionality works fine, but inside the categories themselves this mod seems to have no effect.
Mad Jul 27 @ 1:43am
"UInotincluded" offers a lot of control in how to customize bottom bar, more than what "Tab sorting" offers. you can customize the name, icon, and more advanced options for the buttons in the bottom bar. (for example; different mods like hospitality, hospital, prison labor all have different buttons in the bottom bar. with "UInotincluded" I can arrange them all under one button called facilities, that expands when clicked)

Overall it helps clean up the main hud in an a way that is appealing to the eye. however, it does not give us control over the order of categories inside the "Architect Tab". that's where "Tab Sorting" comes in. With it I can rearrange the categories in a more logical way.
Mlie  [author] Jul 27 @ 12:30am
@Mad Isnt that mod doing the same thing as this mod? Do you need both loaded?
Mad Jul 27 @ 12:27am
@Mlie - when using alongside “UInotIncluded” mod, the architect menu tabs can be sorted just fine. However, when reordering the buttons inside each category nothing happens, as if the changes don’t apply.

Hope you can look into it when you have time. No rush of course, I know how busy you must be with the transition to 1.6.

Your work is much appreciated friend.
Mlie  [author] Jul 24 @ 9:52am
@adam110902 Not without a large rewrite of the mod logic, not sure I have the time for that. Sorry
adam110902 Jul 24 @ 9:01am
1.6 update :)
would it be possible to have things in 2 tabs at once like some of the orders
for example end table with lamp could be in both lights and bedroom tab
LukeNukem Jul 24 @ 2:39am
some off my menus are not auto hiding when empty. anyone know what's what and if there's an easy fix? odyssey for example.
