1) Mod is dead. Author confirmed on Mar 3, 2025. It hasn't worked right for a long time, and was made and updated last in 2020 (five years ago!) During 3.x Split Vendetta DLC. If fixes are going to happen somebody else is going to have to take the mod over.
2) The corsair/automated pirate ships does not work. They will just fly around in the patrol area but do nothing as ships continue to fly by.
3) The manual harass yourself mostly still works to make pirating things yourself easier than vanilla.
4) There are no escape pods for your ships they are NPCs. If you have escape pods it's a
different mod.
5) There are no white lists of any kind. I imagine you were supposed to set this up in neutral
space back when it actually worked.

You didn't answer their question, they asked if they could whitelist certain factions. Like, if you're in ARG space and they're friends, how do you stop your ships from harassing ARG ships?

1. you can harass anything, even xenon, claiming is weird for those though. Although not sure about kaki since I haven't tried them.
2. If you have a fleet defending you, and you go into harass, they will harass with you. You just have to be careful that you have the fleet with low damage weps. otherwise they can kill it EASY. I usually pause and send the fleet away before Harass, cause i don't like wasting my time.. just to destroy it. I've not used the corsair command, didn't know it was included, until was looking through the mod code myself. so i can't comment on that part.

Two questions:

Question 1: is it possible to ONLY harass specific factions? IE, the Scale Plate? I've no problem with some of the other factions in the region they inhabit, and I don't want to bother them at all, since they've not done anything to my ships.

Question 2: How exactly do I get these ships to engage in the harassment of SCA pirates? I've got them set to harass in an area that the SCA fly through on the regular, have it to a narrow confined area (5km) and right beyond the gate for the system they enter/leave from.

However, no matter what I seem to do, they just ignore the ship as it flies through the area.

Now if only you could adjust this to allow us to capture the damned Xenon ships.

The only other mod that I see that can potentially allow this was Capturable Xenon 7.0.

I'm having issues as well. UI protect is off.
I'm able to get ships to bail, then when I try to claim, the marine goes out, docks.... then nothing. the marine is gone. if i manually claim it works fine.

Also my ships drop Escape pods when they are running away. Not sure if it's related to this mod or others. The escape pods never go away. they have 2 star pilots that i can't recover either.

This mod worked with version 7.50.
The protected UI feature must be turned off.
With it turned on, the threat commands will not be displayed.

Does not work, every time i try and get a ship by harastment, the game freezes and the task manager shows that it still on but but sucking up more power then a nuke reactor could push out... maybe back ground info being pulled...

oh and it seems that changing the settings so that bailing pilots dont destroy hull/components anymore dont work (unless it requires a full restart)

Hi i have a question regarding harass, ive been doing it alot now but im always scared that the turrets of my ship destroy the ship im trying to take. Is there a hotkey or option somewhere to disarm the turrets so they wont accidently kill a ship??

The player harass feature works however the corsair instruction when harassing L/XL ships does not trigger boarding leading to the enemy ship always being destroyed

I can say that it works... the new version of the Mod support API 1.90 fixed this and other context menu mods... you just have to right click or press F when targeting a ship to "Harass" it

@Chack321 It does work. You need SirNukes Mod Support APIs 1.88. Its on nexusmods.
Version 1.89 is causing issues with no right-click menu options for any mod using it.
However I do not know what other issues it brings, Im testing extensively Mod Support APIs 1.88 with kuertee's UI Extensions 7.1.01 on X4 7.10 beta 1 and everything seems to work fine for now.

Hi Alberto, I have finished that mod. However I did not intent to make a replacement, actually I have removed most of features of your mod to make it work like TrueCapture.
It only removes hull damage and components destruction from bailing crew and removes damage done by claiming marines.
It does not have any options of harrassement nor does it change bailing chance and mechanics.
I made it because True Capture stopped working for me in 7.0

Its called Better Capture and is uploaded on NexusMods.

I think the best You could do is to link and describe GitHub fork of your Better Piracy from NomadicBits. That version works well in 7.0 and 7.1 and I have used it to create my simple alternative. Thanks Phex_Serath for the heads up!

Dont get me wrong, I'm too dumb in scripting to keep alive such mod as yours.

Sure, I was searching for a "nice" way of sunsetting this, since I was not able to find the time to came back to it and update it.

Feel free to upload it to both Nexus and Steam workshop.

For that people where it not work:

Klick on GitHub Link and download the Fork from NomadicBits and place that content in "X4 Foundations\extensions\better_piracy"

That will make the mod work again with 7.0

I use:
UI Extension "v7.0.02 for v7.00 HF 1 of the base game." (from nexus)
Mod Support 1.88 (from nexus)
Better Piracy 13.0 (from steam)

And a bunch of other mods. Those do show up, and also the extension options are available(once in the actual game).

instead of going back to 1.88 what code line do we update to make it work with 1.89 as game ver 7.0 doesnt work with old ver of the api extensions options doesnt show up

FYI, the issue is not with this mod, but with the last update of "Mod Support APIs" to 1.89. Go to Mod-Nexus and get the older 1.88, the harass menu item should appear again.

It works for me. The mod extension will not appear until you are in game. I have not got TL but updated to 7 only and my mods seem fine, good luck

Two days ago it worked with rollback to 6.2 and SWI but sadly this is not the case anymore.

If I want to give the independent 3-star corsair order is there a way to restrict which factions are attacked?
I am doing a split start playthrough and would like my ships to automatically Pirate the juicy argon traders in heretics end but I don't want them to target other factions.
