Scarification (Continued)

Scarification rituals in the "Pain is Virtue" meme has several options: Mild, Minor, Moderate, Heavy, Extreme. (Might be forgetting the actual names but you get the point) Mild requires 1 scar, Minor 2, Moderate 3, Heavy 4, Extreme 5.

Problem is, you have to do 1 ritual for each individual scar. You don't just receive all 5 at once. This is a huge time eater and has aggravated me since my first 1k hours. :(

I would LOVE it if you could implement the scarification ritual applying the required scar amount based on ideological settings, please and thank you.

@TaM_tHe_JaM What do you mean with ”if you use extreme”?
TaM_tHe_JaM Jan 2, 2023 @ 11:21pm
Could you please add a function where scarification rituals apply all 5 scars if you use extreme? Or 4 if less so, etc

Also +1 Bread's suggestion, even just a toggleable patch for those of us who want it would be excellent!
Karmapowered Apr 25, 2022 @ 8:14am
+1 please for @Bread's suggestion. This mod, coupled to its brother mod (EM Tattoos and Piercings-mod, which I'm using and having a lot of fun with), would become overnight hits in the community with such an update.

Could it be that the mod doesn't work for the cactoid alien species? For some reason it won't show up, but for other species it works. Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
[RTB] Sarianos Sep 2, 2021 @ 10:07pm
Ditto on Bread's suggestion, actually makes the vanilla scarification worth a damn.
tierrehcc Aug 15, 2021 @ 5:29pm
Yes, i would really like it too. I choose scarification without pain and now its a permanent debuff - one way or another. So only hope is your mod :)
BreadandYeast Aug 7, 2021 @ 2:15pm
If you can, please make the scarification ritual in ideology apply these scar hediffs instead of the vanilla ones, that would make the scarification tenet useful outside of pain is virtue religions.
Mlie  [author] Aug 2, 2021 @ 9:57pm
@I blame Pudge Not sure, I havent had time to play Ideology. The mod is updated, unsure if it conflicts with anything?
I blame Earthshaker Aug 2, 2021 @ 9:45pm
So tattoos have been rendered basically obsolete by 1.3 (although still might work, just prolly pointless). But can this be updated for the scarification? Or has that also basically been rolled into 1.3 update?
Cat Kraken Mar 25, 2021 @ 9:08am
thank you :steamthis::steamthumbsup::steamthis:
Mlie  [author] Mar 24, 2021 @ 11:02pm
@Cat Kraken I think the EM Tatoos and Piercings-mod linked in the description is more what you are looking for. That mod has specific tatoos an you could also patch in your own pretty easy I think
Cat Kraken Mar 24, 2021 @ 9:40pm
and if thats possible, could you add that as a feature?
Cat Kraken Mar 24, 2021 @ 9:39pm
is there a way to make the tattoos have art descriptions and uh maybe a way to edit those descriptions so you can customize the tattoo?
I blame Earthshaker Mar 4, 2021 @ 9:49pm
Cool, thanks!
Mlie  [author] Mar 4, 2021 @ 1:40pm
@Vattende Unless you have the bed-space :)
Vattende Mar 4, 2021 @ 1:37pm
@Mlle - thanks for the infos ! So better i go bit by bit. :vhhuch:
Mlie  [author] Mar 4, 2021 @ 12:32pm
@I blame Pudge @Fumblesneeze There should now be a toggle for the isBad-value
Mlie  [author] Mar 4, 2021 @ 12:08pm
@Vattende All surgeries stack so the pawn will get double the amount of pain for two scarifications
You can scarify the whole body but then the pawn would be in 100% pain until the hediffs gets to the last tier
Vattende Mar 4, 2021 @ 11:14am
Question : does the pain for scarification especially but alto tattoos stack when make ? Or would it be better to scarifie full body, then it's done ? :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
I blame Earthshaker Dec 27, 2020 @ 2:37am
Please do make/change/add toggle for the <isBad>false</isBad> for tattoos & scars. Just realized that luciferium will also eventually "fix" anything from this mod. Not saying I like to ride the lucy, but like to leave the option open for reasons...
Mlie  [author] Dec 20, 2020 @ 12:19pm
@Fumblesneeze Yes, that was the reason I changed the other mod as well. But as I said, Ill make it togglable when I get the time.
Fumblesneeze Dec 20, 2020 @ 12:05pm
I don't see how someone may be irritated by this, however there's already 2 people in these comments who were irritated by the current behaviour.
Mlie  [author] Dec 20, 2020 @ 12:01pm
@Fumblesneeze Id rather not change the mod that way since I got irritated reactions when I did the same thing in another mod some months ago. If I get the time I can make it toggleable, unless someone publishes a patch for it.
Fumblesneeze Dec 20, 2020 @ 11:59am
How about you just put it in the mod? There you go, I even made a PR.
Mlie  [author] Dec 20, 2020 @ 10:59am
@Fumblesneeze Yea, its an easy fix. Anyone is free to make a patch for it.
Fumblesneeze Dec 20, 2020 @ 4:56am
I checked the code that picks which injuries to heal and it turns out there's a simple fix: just add <isBad>false</isBad> to the hediffs and it won't be considered for serums anymore, tested it even.
Mlie  [author] Dec 19, 2020 @ 9:59pm
@Fumblesneeze See my previous answer regarding serums
Fumblesneeze Dec 19, 2020 @ 4:04pm
I just wasted a healer mech serum on a colonist's tattoo, which was intended to heal their brain scar... I can't see how that is supposed to be intended behaviour?
Grail Knight Nov 29, 2020 @ 4:08am
Fun fact, I really hear dat.
And in my own experience, when I see in tech service guy with E=mc2 tattoo, I have only more trust in 'em, for example.

2020 year, and all diz.
ThatCoolDude Nov 24, 2020 @ 7:46am
Not saying that to be a dick either, you just never hear someone say "wow getting a tattoo helped me get a job so much"
ThatCoolDude Nov 24, 2020 @ 7:45am
wouldnt tattoos cause a negative social impact lol
Mlie  [author] Oct 28, 2020 @ 3:01pm
@I blame Pudge Yes, surgery is the only way to get them. Regular scars is not affected. They count as a normal hediff so serums will affect them. Not sure if that is intentional or not.
I blame Earthshaker Oct 28, 2020 @ 2:54pm
Is surgery the only way to get the scarified bonus, or do wound scars sometimes result in free scarification/cosmetic scarring instead of just regular painful scars? If not, can this be added if it won't conflict with vanilla scarring? Also, do healer mech serums ignore the cosmetic scars or tattoos?
Mlie  [author] Jun 30, 2020 @ 2:19pm
@Crakkdego @DisKorruptd I have now added two traits, the body-mod enthusiast and the body-mod purist. They should function as a lighter version of the Transhumanist and Body-Purist traits but ofc dependent of tatoos and scarifications instead of artificial limbs.

I added support for the EM Tatoos and Piercings-mod as well.
If there are any other mods that should be supported please leave a suggestion here and Ill look into adding it.
ab1815195 Jun 29, 2020 @ 10:50pm
Ink/Scarification Enthusiast. A reskinned transhumanist trait. Mood debuff with no ink/scarification, scaling mood buffs for each added tattoo/scarification. ---Some people cook lavish meals for a creative outlet, some write symphonies, some paint or sculpt masterpieces. [PAWN NAME] feels the ultimate form of self expression comes from visual skin alterations.--- Not sure about negative moodlet for enthusiast with no tattoos, but a positive for having one or two could be, "some say 'your body is a temple', mine is a canvas." And then with all tattoos, "I am walking art!" For scarification: "Some say 'your body is a temple', well are ancient pyramids not etched in heiroglyphics?" Followed by, "¶π∆√¥€". Not sure if you're serious about implementing the traits, but if so, maybe add compatibility with the 'EM tattoos and piercings' mod that you also updated, and do a similar trait with piercings. Either way, thank you for all you do for the modding community!
DisKorruptd Jun 22, 2020 @ 4:04pm
That makes sense, though I'd also have a trait that specifically doesnt like Scars/tattoos but doesnt mind limb replacements, and vice versa
Mlie  [author] Jun 22, 2020 @ 1:30am
I assume the existing body-purist trait would not like scars/tatoos
Mlie  [author] Jun 22, 2020 @ 12:57am
@DisKorruptd Good idea. Any suggestions for names an descriptions of such traits would be very helpful
DisKorruptd Jun 21, 2020 @ 10:07pm
perhaps add traits that can make pawns predisposed towards/against people with tattoos as well as make them want or not want a tattoo
j.gladfly Mar 27, 2020 @ 12:32pm
No face/neck tattoos? :(
Dakon Mar 22, 2020 @ 2:21pm
Thank you for your work.
A big thanks for updating all these mods but this is also a great way to promote them. I found quite a few mods that I did not know about before you picked them up.
