my brother in christ calm the fuck down. Bi is actually the default, this is a historical thing. A known factor.
UtterlyFlabbergasted 2. dec. 2023 kl. 19:59
I like realism. this isn't realistic. I don't care that I can change the settings. There has to be a logical default. saying its set that way because rim-world is a world without culture or norms is brain dead. Rim-world has cultures with norms, least the creator could've done was make it work in accordance with the societies that inhabit the planet. Yes this is petty. Guy should've made it make sense through the real world not the fictional world of a planet without culture. and either way we are animals without culture as animals are without conditioning. We would hunt, find shelter, explore and reproduce. society and cultural abundance aka being rich as fuck would cause bisexuality. not the lack of abundance or resources aka what a rim-world possesses. as I said, this is very petty and I don't care about the settings. creator needs to know his basis for the default don't make sense.

Please, someone, update this ;( I need more lovers

@thekittymix For me it prevented factions from being generated on the world map besides 1 settlement each for the 2 outlander factions.
thekittymix 29. juli 2021 kl. 19:28
Does this still work with 1.3?
flashwitt 28. juli 2021 kl. 22:27
Fantastic overall, but you're right about polyamory's complications. First, I've several times had poly toons in relationships with another poly toon, but both are unhappy because they are in a "mono" relationship. As far as I can tell, there's no way to be in a relationship with multiple toons, since dating more than one toon is instantly counted as "cheating" by the game, and the relationship with the poly partner is dissolved. What's more, they are marked as miserable because their partner "cheated", and hold a grudge against the ex for having done so. I've tried to disable some of this using the Quality of Life mod, but there doesn't seem to be any way around these issues from within the game.
Vae Victis 24. juli 2021 kl. 23:49
Wording in the description has inspired a lot of political-type responses in the comments. FANTASTIC! Yet another place that has been defiled by talk that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game.
Makkli 21. juli 2021 kl. 15:02
@jellyjayne wow, that sounds like the most realistic situation possible.
Suzi 21. juli 2021 kl. 14:54
1.3? :(
Lee-Jay-92 18. juli 2021 kl. 0:19
This mod doesnt seem to be working properly for me...for example, asexual pawns are still getting into relationships, misandrist pawns being bisexual and bisexual male pawns trying to hook up with straight male pawns. Not sure whats going on?
slug life 12. juli 2021 kl. 10:57
Hi, I was wondering if you are planning to update this to 1.3? :)
PetLoverSpy 5. juli 2021 kl. 12:20
I was wondering if it is possible, when one pawn proposes a hookup to another and it's accepted, that the other pawn could immediately stop what they are doing to go with? As it is right now with queuing up the loving after their current task they often end up waiting for a busy partner, missing them once they get bored, or going up and down for repeat hookup attempts when the pawn just won't stop what they're doing currently.
PASSION 1. juli 2021 kl. 12:04
n e ways its really cool playing w this mod :) super duper useful, was always annoying how rare gay pawns were + the gay trait took up a slot. Dont remember if there was bisexuality in vanilla.. i really like how its balanced too w the percentages, very epic. the polyamory is a massive bonus, though im hesitant to try it due to everything that could go wrong bc bugs-- ill letcha know how that goes

also the vanilla percentages/likliehoods for things that u said u fixed r creepy.. thanks for solving those
PASSION 1. juli 2021 kl. 12:02
u guys really debating [with some clear hostility from Bullet ;(] theories of sexuality in funny and epic rimworld mod? theres a time n a place, trying to assert your thoughts on why bisexual people are all descended from a burly man from Australia or whatever isnt appropriate for this comment section. Its for mod related comments, not philosophy that no one is going to agree on

@AmberAmbitions
I view natural selection a part of evolution. Without natural selection, evolution is just mutations without a limit. That being said, natural selection often kills out bad breeding habits, but because social creatures tend to have a higher population(more diversity to the brains of all the animals) and don't have to rely on an interaction that happens maybe 3 times a year for the survival of their species, they get to have that kind of variance.

All animals are sentient, sapient is probably what you're looking for... And of course that makes sense, social animals don't tend to be hinging their entire species surviving on an interaction that happens once a year with most pairs, and are often in much higher population allowing for more diversity of the brain to be put on display. However, that doesn't change the fact that most social creatures often put a purpose to it, and humans are the only ones that don't seem to. Again, see my examples.
Bullet Barrage Spy 29. juni 2021 kl. 9:30
Those were my only problems with your comments.

On a unrelated note, I subscribe to a theory where neanderthals were better than humans in every way(strength, endurance, charisma, luck, intelligence... wait those latter middle 2 are SPECIAL,) which ultimately led to their downfall because they could throw themselves at rhinos at such, while humans *had* to build tools which aided them in hunting. The tools gave us the ultimate edge over neanderthals, and we began to out compete them as a result. Our competition eventually killed them off.

Sorry for the repost, I had to suddenly split this off and I hate having one comment after another.
VickABit 20. juni 2021 kl. 12:29
Oh, and it seems to be that it has more to do with relationships than anything else. Social animals are far more likely to show concepts of exclusive sexuality than non-social ones. Sentient ones, especially, seem to be more likely to show these concepts. So the idea of exclusive sexualities, like heterosexuality and homosexuality appear to be more societal than evolutionary, anyway.
VickABit 20. juni 2021 kl. 12:29
@Bullet Barrage Spy
Nothing evolves for a reason. It's all random. That's natural selection. For some reason, bisexuality just tended to be more likely to be passed on in many primates. This could be due to environmental or breeding pressures (IE taking away Homo Neanderthalensis mates away from the pool and making it more likely Homo Sapiens children were born) or it could literally just be random chance.
That neanderthal example is just speculation as an example, btw. As far as I know, there's no evidence for that.

Most likely, it was just random. Either way, research and historical precedent have shown that, lacking societal or environmental pressures, most people tend toward bisexuality.
Osium 6. juni 2021 kl. 16:45
Is this supposed to give two sexuality traits at times?

I'm getting a decent number of straight + bisexual pawns. I haven't seen any other combination, so I am wondering if this is a feature?
Bullet Barrage Spy 3. juni 2021 kl. 18:35
I'm going to hop into this debate for two replies only(the second reply is actually below this one, but... Bisexuality in other animals did not evolve because of that. There are only a few circumstances where bisexuality evolved for animals, and most of them aren't actually that good. If anything, it puts a really bad name on the pride of others who identify as bisexual, gay, etc.

The most common form I'm aware of is the attempt to look more "attractive" to mates. Goldfish will be my example here. It has been observed that male goldfish will mate with each other, with the goal of attracting more females. If the females see this male "having fun" with another goldfish, they'll view the goldfish as a more desirable mate than one who is totally alone. Since they can take turns mating, this ends up being beneficial.
Bullet Barrage Spy 3. juni 2021 kl. 18:35

The other most common form I know of is to assert pack dominance. A certain primate species(I forgot which one) will be my witness to the court. The older males, to assert dominance, will quite forcefully mate with younger males, to show who is really in charge of the pack of monkeys. They do not consent to this, mind you.
We really are descendants of monkeys.

As for FadedSun... "So, if you can engage in sexual behavior that satisfies the hormonal urges for sex without creating risky pregnancies, that is a pretty large evolutionary advantage." You know what else is a pretty large evolutionary advantage? Being able to repress your own instincts in times where you do not need them. This sounds almost exactly like something I've heard justifying abuse in the past, so do not use that again.
Dynamic 14. maj 2021 kl. 17:13
@FadedSun
Seems like a stretch to me, and a pretty big one at that
FadeAJ 13. maj 2021 kl. 21:31
@Luna
I think what @Bluetrees is saying is that if environmental factors are unfavorable to have children, (for example, to avoid having children in the middle of winter where they may not survive or while you have very little food) individuals can still engage in sexual behavior without risk of reproduction. Having a baby requires a lot of resources from the body and in poor circumstances, a mother and child may end up dying because of a lack of those resources. So, if you can engage in sexual behavior that satisfies the hormonal urges for sex without creating risky pregnancies, that is a pretty large evolutionary advantage.
ShadowRaven♿ 13. maj 2021 kl. 16:25
When did the comments sections of mods turn into a debate about sexuality?
Squidward 13. maj 2021 kl. 9:22
Is this compatible with the "Everyone is queer" mod?
Blue 5. maj 2021 kl. 0:15
@Bluetrees
being bi makes a lot of sense in evolutionary terms, as it makes for greater versatility in terms of more or fewer members of a species breeding in response to environmental conditions.

that's not how reproduction works . . . .
getQUARKED 9. apr. 2021 kl. 14:26
hey so quick question, how do affairs work? do they increase the likelyhood of breakups? the husband to a wife in a monogamous relationship is cheating on her (...in the next room over lmao) and i was wondering if theres a way to make it so that forces a breakup, or something like that.
Conflagration 3. apr. 2021 kl. 19:28
Mod's pointless actually, you can't turn it off. Even with gay set to 0%, pawns will generate with it regardless. Even with it turned off in Vanilla Trait Expanded too.
Patient 28. mar. 2021 kl. 18:30
wish I could award your comment @BlueTressym <3
BlueTressym 27. mar. 2021 kl. 23:02
eides72 is right and additionally, being bi makes a lot of sense in evolutionary terms, as it makes for greater versatility in terms of more or fewer members of a species breeding in response to environmental conditions. Greater adaptability is good for species survival. So yes, most people identify as straight because they are taught from day 1 that it is the default and never question it. In addition, they are often taught that anything else is different, weird, or even wrong. Homophobia and bi erasure? THAT is the bullshit.
Patient 23. mar. 2021 kl. 16:30
@Skørne people who have studied this stuff lol
NRFBToyStore 23. mar. 2021 kl. 16:23
@Skørne People with massive brains and pleasing genitals.
Conflagration 23. mar. 2021 kl. 12:20
Heavily theorised by who, I wonder. Sounds like bullshit to me.
Badass Trans Knight 17. mar. 2021 kl. 2:49
@kot actually, it is heavily theorized that humans are almost always bi, and that being straight is heavily prevalent today due only to cultural pressure. This is supported by the fact that all mammal species, including those most similar to us, are primarily bi; the fact that most LGBT people are bi by a significant margin; and the fact that greek and early roman culture operated on the assumption of bisexuality from all people (meaning that the vast majority of their society, before widespread homophobia, was bi)
Patient 10. mar. 2021 kl. 15:27
fun fact
kotamine 10. mar. 2021 kl. 14:32
lol 20% straight? this is anything but rational
Siren System 2. mar. 2021 kl. 15:10
Honestly the only thing that bugs me is that wrong gender romance can happen at all. We're obviously working with the Kinsey Scale here - and full gay/full straight going against that feels weird.
Prand 28. feb. 2021 kl. 12:06

The hookup part of this mod will drive your job giver crazy:

Oker started 10 jobs in 10 ticks. List: (Wait_MaintainPosture (Job_686348)) , (LeadHookup (Job_686350) A=Thing_Human1558 B=Thing_Bed209344) (Wait_MaintainPosture (Job_686352)) , (Wait_MaintainPosture (Job_686354)) , (LeadHookup (Job_686357) A=Thing_Human1558 B=Thing_Bed209344) (Wait_MaintainPosture (Job_686359)) , (Wait_MaintainPosture (Job_686360)) , (LeadHookup (Job_686362) A=Thing_Human1558 B=Thing_Bed209344) (Wait_MaintainPosture (Job_686364)) , (Wait_MaintainPosture (Job_686365)) curDriver=JobDriver_WaitMaintainPosture (toilIndex=0) curJob=(Wait_MaintainPosture (Job_686365))
Patient 15. feb. 2021 kl. 13:14
@namelessMirror hey!
- From what I've seen it doesn't nullify the sharing with not-lover debuff, even if the two pawns previously hooked up. Might be wrong on that though. 'I want to have sex with you just don't want to sleep beside you I need my space' haha?
- I don't think more than two people can Lovin' at a time. I haven't tested it. But if two people try to Lovin' / hook up and there's no double bed then nothing happens, and if you turn on dev mode it throws an error when they try to do that. So following that logic, maybe you'd need a triple bed for triple Lovin' haha. Again I am not an authority, just mentioning what I've seen.

As for assigning multiple beds to a pawn, haven't seen a mod for that yet, but it might be out there.
namelessMirror 15. feb. 2021 kl. 11:02
Anyone know if this mod nullifies the "sharing a bed with a not-lover" debuff? Trying to work out sleeping arrangements for pawns where some are dating mutually and others are not.

Also anyone know how the poly side of thing works with Lovin'? I have no idea if this mod accounts for like, multiple people at a time or?

On a similar note- if anyone knows a mod that lets a pawn be assigned to more than one bed at a time, I would much appreciate being told! Really trying to work out the most ideal bedding situation here lol.
神殇丶听聆 10. feb. 2021 kl. 6:18
Does this mod have a Chinese translation?
Patient 9. feb. 2021 kl. 12:31
Maybe this is a silly request but I like to turn off the dating mechanic so I've set 'base rate at which pawns will propose dates' to 0%, and although this stops pawns from going on dates, it doesn't stop them from asking for dates. Why would this even bother me? I play on the large test size maps so when a pawn travels across the map to ask for a date it does chew up some time still. So is it possible for me to completely turn off pawns asking for dates?
Many thanks for any help
Bunnies With Horns 1. feb. 2021 kl. 22:50
I'm glad I finally looked into this. I was excited when I found out I could mess with the chances of sexuality traits in vanilla, but the default settings for romance in this game kind of upset me. I have a colony of almost 30 pawns, most of whom are bisexual. But every single relationship is female/male and it's starting to annoy me. Hopefully this fixes things, thanks a lot!
Dragontoast 31. jan. 2021 kl. 10:17
I hope hookups are planned to get reworked.
Either by making them dependent on recreation/contact needs or by making the "got some lovin" moodlet disable requests from that pawn.

As others have stated pawns are insanely thirsty even when not an insatiable pawn.
I had a colony that would have died because they were too busy getting into each others pants to put food on the table or even a roof over their heads.
Hydromancerx 10. jan. 2021 kl. 17:24
i have the "need contact" unchecked but one pawn has the need bar for "human contact" and it glitches out the panel to no longer show tool tips or mood buffs/debuffs
toomanynights 5. jan. 2021 kl. 3:28
To anyone struggling with pawns being rejected by (seemingly) their perfect matches even with very high relations (pulled a Stockholm Syndrome to get the relations tp 100!), try messing with "SecondaryLovinChance coefficient" in mod settings. Makes wonders.
RagnarLi 19. dec. 2020 kl. 7:34
Yea I agree with other comments, hookup system is broken. The two will go to bed, (if one doesn't have something reserved which can screw it up), and once they go there it just kinda fizzles out. Please fix this!
