Update: Just delete the interface folder in 394360/1915965716. None of the files within do anything from checking the code.

I love this mod, but it currently crashes the game when loading a save, because "interface/countrytechtreeview.gui" is missing "special_project_tech_icon_offset". Pls fix.

This mod should really be merged into the game! I don't understand how P.I. doesn't have more options like this mod provides.. that being said, I miss this mod and can't play HOI4 without it :( Thanks for doing what's been done so far!

please someone, update or rewrite this mod. It is so useful with its clean icons. We particularly need good, non cartoonish, naval and air icons

@Sudwind Because in WA there are changes in the interface file, and this mod goes for the vanilla version. It needs a compatibility patch to make the mod work on WA.

@Ghaleon What is the name (number) of the file?

To anyone who doesn't like the yellow triangle saying it is out of date, all you have to do is go to the descriptor file for the mod and type/save the current HOI build where the old one is listed....and it will solve the "update" issue.

Time to update this mod. Also is it possible to add icons for the Air Force?

@juddadiah thank you soooo much for you kind words! It's a very small cosmetic mod but the reason I worked on this is exactly the same as yours: I want to be able to recognize immediately my armies.

Btw just to reassure everybody: While I'm not adding features at the moment (and super sorry for not having implemented the air units so far) I will ensure that this will still be compatible with the base game.
And I really hope to be able to work on this and expanding it as soon as possible!

I remember loading up HOI4 for the first time, super excited to plan out my armies and army groups and feeling so underwhelmed with the lame choices I was given. I looked through the workshops and NOTHING was fixing this issue like this mod.... immediate DL and use that same day I got HOI4, and as others have said I cant play the game without this mod installed.
I blame you (jokingly!!!) for my 1300+ hours played and zero achievements. I wear every second of every minute of every hour as a badge of honor thanks to this mod.

I love this mod, think the base game ones are unplayable now, don't understand why something like this isn't already in the game.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with Kaiserdux. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with some mod packs? It works fine with Kaiserreich.

This mod is an absolute godsend man, I've always hated the base game icons. Just wanted to pop in here and say thank you so much for this shit, it makes my life 1000x more livable when trying to manage my armies (also happy to hear about life going well, hope it only gets better from here :> )

Just to give a little more context.. as I was in rush before...
As much as I love gaming, and modding in general, I'm in a situation that, between work and family (both going very well), I end my day very tired, and not in the mood of using my last resources modding.
So I'm much more inclined in playing, and playing relaxing games, not mind-intensive like HOI4.

I hope to have some more time at some point to pick this up again, but I told that myself a lot of times and still did not happened so, if anyone, want to pick this up, I can share the repository.

Hello. Can I use your Hoi4 content?

Could you do some airgroup icons in the same style to replace the clownesque vanilla ones?
This is the most sensible mod for HoI.

I'm currently playing on 1.11 (to play KX). It appears maybe the 1.12 version isn't compatible with that, at least the icons don't appear in my game. Is there any chance you could post a link to the 1.11.* version? :)

also would not mind seeing air theaters added even if it was just the letters and regions thanks!

do you have an equivalent mod for unit icons? am desperately seeking a working NATO unit icon mod :D

@DreamHigh Unfortunately I don't have plan to further expand the icons, mainly because there is an hardcoded limit hence I should remove existing ones

@ebcott eh.. unfortunately there is nothing I can do. It's Paradox Launcher that sometimes has these issues but it's not related to the structure of the mod. You should try to look into the steam folders if the mod folder is there. It should be under:
\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\394360\1915965716

394360 = the internal ID of HOI4
1915965716 = the ID of the mod

Also confirmed I have the update by going to steamapps directory

Sadly, this is not working for me. Empty playset with just this mod activated. Cleared cache and user directory as well. The icons just don't show up :( (army or navy)

UPDATED and now working with By Blood Alone

There are a couple of caveats however:
- Theatre icons are not available for Air Groups - Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to spend on the project to port them (and the impact of Air Group icons is very limited)
- As usual AG icons that are part of the DLC (like country specific icons) are not available, due to the hardcoded limitation of the number of the icons that can be added. This is also why I cannot add more, I've not retested lately the hardcoded limit but considering that base game has around 30 icosn and we're over 100 I don't see a reason why Paradox should change this.
