dead mod!
Teax Jul 19, 2021 @ 9:00am
This mod here is dead, modder abandon his rimworld mods. as you can see in the mod desc.
We can only hope someone talented continues his work :)
Lurmey Jul 18, 2021 @ 11:33am
Heya, I asked the author of VFE Power but he said it'd be more ideal for you to do this. Could you consider adding an industrial version of the coal-fired generator ala VFE Power?
Kangz of Memphis Jul 15, 2021 @ 9:31am
This is a most important mod! Someone pls update tis!
RutraNickers May 20, 2021 @ 11:19am
so, the smelter doesn't have the modded recipes that are added into the regular smelter. Could you please patch this one?
Олег Мерк Feb 16, 2021 @ 3:25am
Do you plan to add an industrial and mini generators like in VFE - Power?
Lotus Elise Jan 19, 2021 @ 1:16am
Can you make the mod compatible with Proxy Heat?
挂鱼 Jan 16, 2021 @ 6:29am
@circle +1
Ruke Jan 10, 2021 @ 7:40pm
Is there any chance to compatibility of 'Simple Coal' mod?
Mr-Bandit Jan 7, 2021 @ 10:41pm
@circle - me too. almost wish there was a drop-down menu for controlling fuels so i could ban wood, even when they are supposed to prioritise coal they always grab the wood because it's closer.

a bummer he(/she) isn't working on the mod anymore, was so attentive at first :/
catharsis Jan 7, 2021 @ 4:38pm
Is there a way to prioritize the use of the coal/charcoal for refueling over wood? Sometimes my colonists use the coal/charcoal, and sometimes they use the wood. Any way to make them just use the charcoal/coal for refueling?

@Mr-Bandit I have that too, it's probably a bug. This author isn't updating his mods anymore so it probably has to fixed by someone else if they decide to re-release this mod.
Mr-Bandit Jan 4, 2021 @ 3:21am
hi! looks like i can't bulk cook pemmican at the stove, i can single and bulk cook vanilla meals (simple, fine, lavish), but pemmican only has single. I can bulk pemmican at campfires, but not the stove, is that normal?? or just me?
Xellototh Dec 28, 2020 @ 5:22pm
Like a few others here, I seem to be unable to actually use the coal for anything despite having an abundance. I can refuel medieval brazers, but that is it.

Also possibly worth noting: Within my mountains I have coal itself, able to be mined, which comes out as Coal Chunks. Is this normal or due to a mod conflict?

Should I be getting just Coal / Charcoal, and not coal chunks? Or is this normal and the Coal chunks themselves need to be further processed, and I am missing recipes due to a conflict?
Malminas Dec 17, 2020 @ 3:29am
Can you support Vanilla Cooking Expanded - stews's Stew Pot?
I blame Earthshaker Dec 15, 2020 @ 1:27am
As another possible oversight, Dub's Bad Hygiene compatibility doesn't add water requirements to the coal generators. This admittedly might have to be fixed from the Bad Hygiene side, the water requirements that mod creates for other stuff seems to mostly be either Vanilla or Dub's other mods (like Rimefeller). I mean, I guess you could maybe use coal to make electricity without boiling water to spin a steam turbine... but it's really inefficient.
I blame Earthshaker Nov 15, 2020 @ 10:43am
Since the Royalty braziers under this mod are supposed to prefer coal over wood, is the only difference between them the meditation bonus? Or is there also a difference in heat output or something?
SCVL Nov 14, 2020 @ 8:09pm
Got this error when try to run this mod with Expanded Materials - Metals mod (all item in this mod all disappear), can SO help?

Ivan832 Nov 14, 2020 @ 4:35pm
if I want to add the mod midsave, I know there wont be coal naturally generated in the world, but can I still make charcoal? if I can, where do I make it cause I cant find it....
Castilios Nov 3, 2020 @ 1:21pm
It wont let me fuel the coal fire generator with coal. It says it needs coal chunks.
Tzeentch Oct 26, 2020 @ 11:51pm
Could you make a compability patch for Expanded Materials - Metals please?
RutraNickers Oct 18, 2020 @ 4:25pm
is there a way to make the coal smelter have all the vanilla recipes that other mods add?
Tom Oct 16, 2020 @ 8:46pm
"Pollute the locals?"

THE FACTORY GROWS
A Factorio-Rimworld crossplay would be horrifying but so beautiful.
Caelaran Sep 24, 2020 @ 5:43pm
Grrr.. I have 6000 coal chunks, but can't get the coal stove to get fueled, is there an interim step I'm missing? This is with a primitive game.
High Rads | Nuka Cola Sep 22, 2020 @ 9:48am
Quite indeed, your coal grill does not show any modded recipes on the list.
What I am looking for, are sweetrolls from "Vanilla Factions Expanded - Vikings" mod.
Phant0m5 Sep 21, 2020 @ 9:19pm
My problem there is I'm not getting any mod recipes, just the vanilla ones and the coal. But none of the other appliances, vanilla or modded, seem to have that issue.
Phant0m5 Sep 21, 2020 @ 9:05pm
So I built the coal smelter! And it had practically nothing in it. Went into God mode, checked out the grill and crematorium, same thing.

I don't suppose you could just install the coal recipes to the vanilla appliances, then have the coal buildings inherit their recipes from there?
Fast2pizza Sep 16, 2020 @ 10:44am
Does the 1.2 deep mining mechanic generate coal? and does coal generate on new maps? (for a midgame save...)
Zalpha Sep 14, 2020 @ 6:56am
I do not understand the error logs I get and I just got this:
[Coal Expanded] Patch operation Verse.PatchOperationSequence(count=13, lastFailedOperation=Verse.PatchOperationAdd(Defs/ThingDef[defName = "TorchLamp"]/comps/li[@Class = "CompProperties_Refuelable"]/fuelFilter/thingDefs)) failed

It is my first time using this mod, I am using the realistic mod package and added this mod into it (alot of the other list mods are outdated - there could be conflict somewhere). I will try moving this mod up the list to see if that fixes whatever issue caused this.
NECEROS  [author] Sep 11, 2020 @ 6:15pm
yep
CYFire Sep 11, 2020 @ 5:15pm
I do understand I won't find any coal if I added this to an existing save. But can I still make charcoal and is that more efficient than burning wood?
NECEROS  [author] Aug 28, 2020 @ 12:48pm
k
Petrichor Aug 28, 2020 @ 12:20pm
Shouldn't the fueled smithy require coke coal or charcoal to operate? That was the main reason they made charcoal pre-steel, to make a fire that burned hot enough to do metallurgy. You should not be able to run it off wood.
Forekast Aug 21, 2020 @ 2:03pm
Hey there! Love this mod; I've been using it pretty much since it showed up

If you're open to requests, would it be possible to add both Portable and Industrial versions of the Coal-fired Generator to go along with the wood and chemfuel ones added by Vanilla Expanded's Power Module? Cheers!
Gyger Aug 20, 2020 @ 6:28am
Do coal braziers count for pyro meditation?
Macca Aug 6, 2020 @ 10:08am
any chance for compatability with vanilla cooking expanded? Specifically the "stews" module for medieval runs
Nishe Jul 17, 2020 @ 11:33pm
Hey Neceros, would it be possible to patch in support for the kilns from the Ceramics mod?
ScrapyardBob Jul 13, 2020 @ 6:51pm
Guessing not as much heat as the coal crematorium (which I do have to be careful with). Putting the coal crematorium in a small room (smaller than 9x9) results in 35-45C temperatures and heat stroke for the workers when under operation.

Not sure if it's possible for the generator to generate more heat when in use then it does now, or if it's stuck at a fixed amount when both on or off. (Or maybe its already balanced with other generators for heat generated during operation and should stay where it is.)
NECEROS  [author] Jul 13, 2020 @ 1:24pm
It does push heat. :)
ScrapyardBob Jul 13, 2020 @ 12:59pm
Wonder if the coal power generator should generate heat (30C? 40C?) or would that be too over the top?
Mr-Bandit Jul 13, 2020 @ 8:44am
@auntydonna - it makes sense tho, chemfuel burns quickly - a lot of energy in a burst, coal burns slowly - a sustained burn and it ashes still generate some heat. if both generators use steam then coal would be better for heat generation to create the steam! if the chemfuel generator was cylinder/piston instead of steam likely a different story (higher output, but more frequent refueling?)
Nishe Jul 13, 2020 @ 8:31am
I would second what someone else said about how efficient charcoal is. Though it's actually even more than 4 times as good.

First, 1 wood becomes 2 charcoal, where if you were producing chemfuel 1 wood would become 0.5 chemfuel.

So you get 4 times as much per wood used, but then on top of that, each individual unit of charcoal is worth a fair bit more than 1 unit of chemfuel, as the coal generator generates 60% more power than the chemfuel one, and a single unit of coal/charcoal actually lasts longer in the coal generator than a single unit of chemfuel does in the chemfuel generator. 30 chemfuel lasts 6.7 days in a generator, while 30 coal lasts 7.5 days in the coal generator.

So, all things considered it's about 6 or 7 times as efficient as chemfuel. This makes the wood fire generator obselete as any wood may as well just be turned into charcoal, and it also makes the chemfuel generator obselete unless you're getting your chemfuel from a source other than wood.
Nishe Jul 4, 2020 @ 10:30pm
me too if you hadn't guessed :D I saw them live in Brisbane a couple years ago
NECEROS  [author] Jul 4, 2020 @ 10:25pm
btw I really like AuntyDonna.
Nishe Jul 4, 2020 @ 10:23pm
No worries, I figured it was a misunderstanding. All good.
NECEROS  [author] Jul 4, 2020 @ 10:17pm
I know I misread. I was hoping you didn't see it. Apologies.
