@Lois Griffin Rommel was part of a list compiled by the Anti-Hitler Resistance as a potential Reichprasident for after the military takeover. As well as this he was mentioned by co-conspirators during interrogations by the Gestapo. He may not have been involved in the plot beyond correspondences with some of the plotters but he did not approve of Hitler's handling of the war. Not to mention his supposed involvement in the plot was the whole reason he was forced to commit suicide. Rommel's inclusion makes sense on the basis of the resistance group holding him in high regard for his popularity among the people, hence why his decision has him becoming leader based on his popularity.

Sorry, currently exclusively working on Ultra Historical Mod, I'll see if I can get this to be compatible with the newest version. Should usually not cause any issues with the current vanilla version though. Will check!

BTW we are making progress on the Ultra Historical Mod update, once that is done I'll go back to modding Valkyrie.

Rommel wasn't really all that involved with the Coup Attempt, and wasn't planned to have any role in the post coup government.So having him be a possible leader post coup seems unrealistic

It probably won't since it changes the vanilla German focus tree, and Road to 56 does the same.

Updated to 1.12*. No new features, just the simple thing it always was. Since I am getting back into streaming, YT and modding more now, I thought it was probably a good idea to do so. Also will finally be starting work on the expanded, integrated version of OpValkyrie for Ultra Historical Mod, and then release said integrated version as a standalone here. However this is a few months in the future, so enjoy Rommel or Beck as head of state for now!

It looks like it is a very basic mod. I took the liberty of adding some more contents to the base files, such as a whole new branch after the operation, possible leaders for communists and democrats, if you go down on that branches, and also a possible leader of Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg (although I know, that he is only and ordinary colonel, and couldn't become one). I have much more in my mind. It isn't finished yet, but it will be great. I would like to show you, if it is possible, because you're the first and original author of this mod. :)

Hey there. Update will come in due time once the Ultra Historical Mod got the Valkyrie focus tree implemented. On Stauffenberg becoming a character...that is unlikely due to him not really being in the position to become one. Neither really a frontline officer nor an advisor of any kind. Henning von Treskow might as he was considered to become head of internal security of the Wehrmacht.

it would be nice if you could choose as 3rd leader claus von stauffenberg, since he wanted to let Göbbels and Etc arrested.

For the moment it is a bit. I am working fulltime again and dedicating all remaining time to ULTRA, so this one is not getting any updates at the moment. Since ULTRA will though receive a Valkyrie focus branch, I will update this mod with said features once we get to that point.

The partisans were ans are still war heros. Who fought the facist scum and also rightfully killed Mussolini. Rommel knew about the Holocaust in his position was ist impossible not to know about the concentration camps. Hitler only qanttwt Nazis Generals and not the the best officers and tatctitions and stategists as Generals. Ifen if Rommel had tryd to killl Hitler he was still a Nazi and also also a war criminal.

Was he an uncritical and loyal supporter of the regime? Yes. Did he share the ideology? Maybe, we don't know for sure. Did he and his troops commit war crimes? Potentially yes, at least during his command of Army Group B in Italy the SS forces under his command slaughtered whole villages as retribution for partisan attacks.

Since he died before the end of the war and we don't know if the archives in Tripolis contain any evidence of his troops committing war crimes, it is actually not clear if he was involved with any war crimes. Though he definitely benefitted from being the most popular war hero of Germany. He was very close to Hitler until 1944 and despite never being a party member, absolutely uncritical of the ideology and maybe even naive. Apparently he once suggested the Nazis should make a Jew a Gauleiter (similar to a governor of a US federal state) since that would look good for the international press, to which Hitler answered quite amused that Rommel absolutely did not understand what his plans were.

Rommel was a Nazi war criminal like all the other generals without one or two from the entire Wehrmacht.
