Meanwhile even though RimPy is showing it's age and lack of updates it's good for 90% of use cases.

As for the last 10% as I mentioned you can go into the Rimpy json file and update the specific mod so that it sorts correctly or removes the dependency error.

rimsort sorting blows, I sort with rimsort and it gives me corrupted mods message on startup but not with rimpy sorting
Three May 18 @ 11:19am
@Archotech but mod creators adds instructions into their mods for RimPy where to put it.
Kasa May 18 @ 11:05am
Nah, rimsort is still garbage compared to Rimpy, once rimsort gets their act together maybe.

Till then Rimpy is still the better manager.
Archotech May 18 @ 10:49am
It's been 2 years since the last update. Just use Rimsort for sorting, texture optimization and updating, and use Rimpy for categorization.
VitaKaninen May 10 @ 7:49am
You can still take screenshots with the RimWorld shortcut or the windows shortcut, but if you want them to be in your steam gallery automatically, you need to start the game via steam. If you accidentally forget to start the game via Steam, you can still take screenshots normally, and then add them to the steam gallery later on, but it requires extra steps, and is a bit of a hassle.

There is no issue with starting the game via RimPy, and then later starting it with Steam.

And another question can I do it like this: sort the mod list in RimPy, launch the game once, and then the next time launch it directly through Steam? Or will that mess up the mod list?
Three May 10 @ 4:14am
I can't take screenshots when I launch the game through RimPy. Is there any solution for this?
I've searched the Internet, but unfortunately, the posts about this are very old, and the suggested fixes don't work.
This really bothers me because my playthroughs are very story-driven, so I often come across wholesome moments that I'd like to capture in a screenshot.
I want the screenshots to be taken directly through Steam so I can easily browse them later — I don’t want to use any external tools.
Do you know any solutions?

I see. I suppose he can just edit the database file directly. He can delete lines 320,921 through 320,947, and that should fix it, seeing as the Author has not been active an many months now.
Alu Apr 22 @ 4:45pm
@vita
If rinpys database has a rule that a modder has removed
Rimpys app will still think it's there months after the modder removes it till paladin updates this database
VitaKaninen Apr 22 @ 11:09am
@qux, Each mod authors adds the dependency when they write the mod. You need to ask them to remove it, or just ignore it since all it does is cause a warning. It has no effect other than informational.
qux Apr 22 @ 9:43am
can you remove the dependency for Van's Retexture : Misc. Training
please

我该如何完全卸载rimpy这个应用程序
Kasa Apr 12 @ 2:13pm
@Big Head Zach

You can manually find the mod in the json file and remove the dependency section, check the discord for more info.
Big Head Zach Apr 12 @ 2:05pm
What's the protocol for clearing the dependency cache? Got a few mods whose dependencies have changed and RimPy still complains those dependencies are missing (they're not).

@灵能猫猫

Are you subbed to over 1000 mods on steam? Even if they aren't enabled in your game, as long as you go over 1000 subs, it will do that. Rimpy doesn't count local mods towards the 1000, so you can convert some to local mods and then unsubscribe from them and it will work.
Alu Mar 30 @ 1:10pm
There's always gotta be someone like @boerge.s anywhere that involves a download. FFS.
灵能猫猫 Mar 25 @ 10:23pm
It deletes my mods randomly when I change my modlist,I have to redownload the mod that rimpy said missing again and again,that is really exhausting.
Alu Mar 23 @ 7:22am
this is a json file and nothing else
"refuses to show the code"
People opened the app and looked in it several times
closed sourcing it doesnt stop it
boerge.s Mar 23 @ 7:02am
Don't use this. The companion software is really suspicious. And the author refuses to show the code.
Kasa Mar 22 @ 9:25am
We really need a public git of this so it can be updated.

For now I just keep a local copy that I try to update manually.
王牌破门手春日野穹 Mar 17 @ 6:05am
why i using RimPy change the mod it always get black screen when i finish launch?
Wilihey Mar 13 @ 10:43am
it still doesnt specify how to use it, this isnt a crazy thing to say when all the other tutorials would use .xml files and load them in rimpy etc it was confusing

it was not clear that to use this mod you keep it unloaded and click sort in the rimpy tool, this isnt an insane thing to wonder, and vitakaninen replied to my question and it was done
Darth Ceveo Mar 10 @ 11:54am
@Wilihey Pretty sure that in the description, a mere scroll up from here. There, right beneath "Questions" is are two very simple sentences that, as a mod user, tells you everything you need to know about this specific mod. Two. Sentences. I KNOW those two sentences were there prior to 2025, because I myself questioned the purpose of this mod back in 2023.

Read people. It causes you absolutely no harm and only serves to better you understanding.
Alu Mar 7 @ 3:52pm
It's not a mod
You leave it inactive
You download the app listed in the desc
The app uses it
Not the game
Wilihey Mar 7 @ 2:29pm
i read it 3 times actually and researched online for about 2 hours and i had no definitive answer on how to actually use this mod, its just second nature knowledge that you're supposed to leave it there unactivated and not load it as an xml or whatever in rimpy
The Dutchman Mar 7 @ 12:50pm
Guess reading the description is too hard for people. Smh
Wilihey Mar 4 @ 1:05pm
alright thank you, thats what i was doing but i wasnt sure if it was working
VitaKaninen Mar 4 @ 11:00am
@Wilihey Yes. You just subscribe to it, and leave it inactive.

You would need to download the RimPy program and run that in order to sort your mods.
Wilihey Mar 4 @ 10:47am
how the hell do i use the database? do i just leave it as an inactive mod and click sort in rimpy?
i've been searching online but i only find outdated tutorials
Ebaklak Mar 2 @ 9:56pm
idk if rimpy caused this but the moment i try launching a game with 146 mods or more it crashes
blodi Feb 12 @ 12:18pm
why is the game only launching properly when i run it from rimpy? i get a black screen when i launch from other apps like Special K or even steam
Alu Jan 13 @ 12:38am
thats cause
this mod isnt a mod for the game to read
its a json file for rimpy to read

that error always showed up if you loaded this thing

Getting this when i am not even using Rimpy at the moment. Rimpy feeling more like spyware in the last year

因为数据库长时间没有更新,存在一些问题,而且现在99%的mod排序规则都写在about.xml文件里,所以完全可以删除过旧的数据库和社区规则,方法:打开RimPy\database\db.json文件,删除所有内容,写入
{
"version": 27996795,
"database": {}
}
打开RimPy\database\communityRules.json文件,删除所有内容,写入
{}

Because the database has not been updated for a long time, there are some problems, and now 99% of the mod sorting rules are written in the about.xml file, so you can completely delete the old database and community rules. Method: Open the RimPy\database\db.json file, delete all contents, and write
{
"version": 27996795,
"database": {}
}
Open the RimPy\database\communityRules.json file, delete all contents, and write
{}

Good day, Ive been having issues. Apperantly Rimpy does not sort my list properly.
https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/a57c0b026e46605704f34d6a4bf1d97d
I get from the mod maker to hear the order is not correct. from VFE.
Anything im doing wrong?
Anonymous Dec 25, 2024 @ 10:16am
Not sure what the right place is to post this, but posting it hoping the right person will see it.
The dev for Realistic Rooms Rewritten commented on Beautiful Outdoors saying his mod was what was causing issues and RRR needs to be loaded before BO.
I tried to just add the sort rule for myself locally but it won't let me without a comment even if I don't share it and just save it, and it also won't let me write a comment in the comment section.
I'm guessing it's somehow protected in a way that also doesn't allow users to locally edit their loadlist, not sure why or how it works but just thought I would mention it in case someone who updates the sort list sees it.
Alu Dec 24, 2024 @ 6:19pm
What menu
SmellyFishNuggets Dec 23, 2024 @ 11:50am
how do you load that menu up
Agraza Dec 14, 2024 @ 6:19pm
bro how do you import from rentry? it is not like pastebin. rimpy doesn't seem to recognize anything I can get from that site.
Hashlin Dec 13, 2024 @ 10:20pm
@EnderSlend thank you very much! I removed it and thankfully my save is okay.
EnderSlend Dec 12, 2024 @ 5:02pm
@Hashlin I assume the files are only relevant to RimPy, removing it should be 100% fine... I'd back up your save just in case
Hashlin Dec 12, 2024 @ 3:14pm
So I accidentally enabled the database into my active mods? Will that mess anything up? Or can I safely remove it without breaking my game? The Rimpy app didn't tell me there were any errors when I did so inside it by accident
Gerewoatle Nov 26, 2024 @ 9:33pm
@Flurbel - You are not. Download it and keep it inactive.
Flurbel Nov 26, 2024 @ 7:40pm
Am I supposed to enable this mod or no?
Pen4a Nov 3, 2024 @ 12:42pm
oh thanks goodness he is alive <3
Myster GeOrGe Oct 25, 2024 @ 6:54am
Thanks for all your hard work! This is easily the best RimWorld mod manager out there.
thehappybub Oct 21, 2024 @ 12:55pm
LOL @Lightfox exactly, could not have said it more succinctly
Lightfox Lowell Oct 13, 2024 @ 3:15pm
Tried using rimsort and it was like falling down a flight of stairs. Thanks for the great program.
NoOne_ReaVen Oct 11, 2024 @ 3:34am
I feel like Rimpy does it a little better than RimSort, I atleast have a more stable experience with a 500+ Modslist in Rimpy than in Rimsort, I run them both an parallel. Also RImsort does some weird things with local mods, when I update them naually RimsSort sometimes forgets they exist so yeah thats a thing as well.
