Just what I needed. I love playing with rovers and disabling jetpack to encourage it, but there are just some things that really need it. This is a great middle ground.
Tip: If you jump before turning your jetpack on you don't have to struggle with the awkward diagonal boosters just to build up your walls

@LazyFlamingo it literally says "just another nerfed jetpack mod." in the first line of the description :awkward:

yeah awful mod it actually nerfed my jetpack i didn't expect this to happen so when i needed to reach my miner i put my ship at like a 60 degree angle and told my friend to run up its ramp while boosting with the jetpack he died brutally never install this :steamhappy:

i had this mod in my server the took it out and it is still limiting my character, is there a way to disable it?

I wonder if it would be possible to implement something like an overheat logic, so you can use your jetpack normally, but only for a short time after which a cooldown starts...
But for now this mod is fantastic for me!

This isn't working for me

Updated. Was a bit overdue... Everything current now. Glad you guys like it! :steamhappy:

Absolutely perfect. I'd call this an immersion tweak moreso than a nerf; your jetpack has the same capabilities as ever, but has skill and weight involved in its use.

I run this on my survival server and it does a great job balancing the jet pack, it doesn't make jetpack travel completely unviable on planets but it makes it tedious enough that players are encouraged to make vehicles and devise other engineering contraptions to move their resources, which IMO is right where it should be. Great work.

Damn... I had the feeling that'd be the case...
Thanks for the quick reply though, and hey, maybe someday Keen will decide to actually get this game properly balanced XD
Till then, fellow engineer, may Clang find your creations worthy!

I just want the jetpack to be slower and more precarious while still allowing you to float. No being goku superman zipping everywhere.

I may end up messing with the dampeners, reducing its strength a bit. This would make floating in gravity a more active effort (having to press space to stay up), but would also make it impossible to stay still for intricate work.

Cool idea, but lies outside the scope of what modders can do. I do agree that the cutting out of thrust is very obnoxious. There's only so much I can do about it.

What I find very frustrating is the fact that the engineer effectively has THREE thrusters instead of one. Sure I can nerf the thrust to the point that it would just barely let you stay up, but you still have 2 more thrusters pointing in other directions. Tilt back a bit, and you can easily fly up while ascending at an incline. I can nerf the thrust to the point where you couldn't do that, but at that point you might as well not have a jetpack at all because you'll just fall so fast from general use.

Hey-ho, I know exactly what you mean by the fast consumption rate. After having used a mod which did that, I tried to look for a mod that balanced the jetpack without the cutting out.

But I also got the idea, what if there was a mod which changed the way H2 bottles work? Rather than refilling your H2, they would instead add to the suits H2 capacity while in your inventory.
This would fix that problem as the consumption values can remain high since you'll then only ever have one fill of hydrogen on you at any time.

I only have a basic understanding of how coding works, so as far as I know this could work so long as it's not hard coded in some way, but I would love to know if this is possible.
