Mlie made a 1.3 update of Joseph's other Taxidermy mod (not this one):

I think I had the nutrition value way too high. It was more than a lavish meal....... I brought it down and made them rot in half a day so only those who want to save them will now. I hope this helps.

So I'm sure that was great.
Guess it was just a "my load order is completely terrible" thing.
Before I could stop them one of my guys had turned it into food from another mod, so, I guess someone's getting deer face stew right now.
This should be taken with a massive heap of salt though, as I have a huge sum of mods that could not play nice together, and up until just now they were very out of order after the last Rimworld update.
I'll stop back in if anything seems different after I play more today- now that I've arranged my mod load order properly.
