After 62 hours I just finished a completionist run and I gotta say, the last time I felt like this was when I played the original System Shock as a wee lad.
Huge thanks to both Adrageron and pecan as well as you guys here in the comment section. I feel like we all shared this journey together.
And what a journey it was!
(Final Adventure next)
It's no wonder you're having so much trouble with the mod as you've entered one of the most difficult areas way too soon. Adrageron's own advice is to stick close to the starting area first of all because things get a lot more challenging the further out you go, not to mention you are going to be missing crucial quest items.
That particular item is available practically at the start of the game for a gold key in the base shop. I not sure how you managed to get so far into the mod, the pyramid no less, without the ability to mine?!
I'll keep searching but it's frustrating.
Please be specific as I can't proceed and seem locked in the pyramid.
Hit with a pickaxe seems logical but my team can't use a pickaxe even with the miner's certificate.
A spell?
A potion?
1. You need to be stood facing a wall/object that can be mined, the pickaxe will only dig into the right material.
2. Each of the shrines (buddhas) wants a specific item placing on it, you will fine one shrine for each of the elements. These are Earth, Fire, Air and Water shrines. Place the orb for each of the elements on the right shrine and it will make something happen. The orbs are discovered across the various areas.
2. What do the buddha's want places on their cicular offering tables? for example the one in the Pyramid dungeon central E in the map.
No problem! Let me know if you need more definite locations as two of them really are out of the way - I've missed at least one myself on several occasions.
Without knowing exactly which sections of the mod you've traversed, I can't offer specific advice, but I can tell you there are four such certificates and you need them all (three are in the Gem Mines and the last one is Goldhaven).
You don't have to play a farmer, but it will mean sacrificing a couple of those precious gold keys early game to grant you the skills he or she gets from the start. Incidentally, I was also critical of Adrageron's mods initially, but I'm very happy to report that I was dead wrong and glad I persevered with this one especially. For sure, I've since become an avid supporter of his work because of it.
There is actually a spear hidden in the very first pool to the left of the base exit. Use a poison bomb to get rid of the Zarchton, then chuck a couple of lightning bombs at the wall to clear the weeds there in order to get to it.
However, I already spent my golden keys on mining and cooking. All the places I need to go next seem to be blocked by water and seaweed. Oh well. Was worth a try.
Only just noticed your posts and thought I'd add that you can mitigate that particular section of the pyramid by having items or armour that prevent paralysis. Also, be sure to block the path behind you with Force Field while you deal with each spawner in turn. It's tough for sure, but certainly manageable.
Worst case scenario, unlock the console and cheat. There's no shame in it, you're there to have fun, right? spawn("bread") is all you need.
Most of the really good items are found in secrets, or areas controlled by the more powerful monsters. The zombies and rats don't actually respawn in Goldhaven either, and they aren't that difficult to take care of if you employ the right tactics.
@Zombiesbum
It's one of the reasons Adrageron advises you to take a Farmer with you on your first playthrough. This allows you to cook pretty much anything from the get go from basic ingredients that you find lying around all over the place once you go outside.
Location of "Top Way" notes:
Top Way NW (1/4) in Citadel Dungeon
Top Way NE (2/4) in Hoary Mountain Caves
Top Way W (3/4) in Gorge of Seven Winds
Top Way E (4/4) in Undertown
I kinda ragequit lost city because of the amount of ladders that led to a broken leg.
Are there a lot in this one too?
What exactly is the Snail treat / Snail meat and how do I get it? I am missing only the 2 secrets relating to it. Didn't find any information on this anywhere (and the guide isn't helpful about this).
1. Thanks, I didn't realize the note was directing the player to a hidden secret in the library
2. Thanks, but I was aware of the location (from a guide), I just didn't find the clue leading to it and was wondering where did I miss it
