Bug Report:
File: /events/ImprovedGeneticsEvents.txt
Event: MT.20200 #Cuckholdry Strength Inheritance event

You used the 'Sturdy' instead of the 'Burly' trait. Thus cuckhold children can't get Burly.
✪ Tax Feb 20 @ 4:45pm
Got it, thanks. Sad that you won't develop the mod further, as I just found out that incest is unreasonably overpowered for genetics farming, with barely any unrelated admixture needed to keep it usable
Crimson7  [author] Feb 20 @ 3:40pm
@Tax

Its definitely possible. I believe I implemented it in the HIP version of this mod, which is bundled with HIP and imo the definitive version of the mod (and CK2)

I dont intend to work on this any longer so you can take inspiration from the HIP version (bundled with HIP) or implement it yourself (you'd have to just check scope if twin, and if so copy the phenotypes from the twin.) Tbh I thought I had that implemented. Do twins have different genotypes? (if you check with console the characters should have flags like int_aaAaAa)
✪ Tax Feb 16 @ 8:40am
Good day, is it possible to change how twins work so they get the same genetic traits? Doesn't make much sense to me that 100% of twins in this mod are always different genetically
QuinoaFalafel Jan 1 @ 9:15pm
For anyone interested, I made an overhaul of this mod's trait icons to make them a bit more distinct and aesthetic. You can get it here .

Also, @Crimson7, if you ever read this, you're more than welcome to implement any or all of my changes into the mod. I also included the localization fix that I mentioned a couple years ago, if you ever want to add that in.
skinnypenis Aug 26, 2024 @ 5:57am
compatible with AGOT traits?
QuinoaFalafel Jul 15, 2024 @ 4:52pm
About the clubfooted thing and the "feed your wife chickenfeet" events, I actually made a mod to remove that specifically for use with this mod (and the advanced version, which I use). You can get it here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2746610630

And @Kazat0, yes, you could. And not just hypothetically. Though you would get the inbred trait a ton still unless you remove it with another mod, since this mod doesn't change the inbred trait at all.
Kazat0 Apr 28, 2024 @ 10:51pm
So..hypothetically, if someone were to download this mod, could they still form a pure bloodline through incest and try to negate the negative effects? Hypothetically
Khleodon Apr 12, 2024 @ 4:54am
is there a way to remove the decision to normalize genes? i love your mod but i hate seeing meta stuff in game, breaks the immersion for me. thak you.
Crimson7  [author] Feb 17, 2024 @ 10:23pm
@Chaincat

It could be those atrocious events in the game that sometimes fire, that feed your wife chickenfeet or something stupid like that.

I can't do anything about those events as I dont edit any game files.

But your understanding is correct. And that means my mod is not causing the clubfoots.

It could ALSO be that you are using incompatible mods. Sometimes if a mod adds more traits it can cause these issues with improved genetics.
Chaincat Feb 12, 2024 @ 9:37pm
I'm a little confused on how deformities work. I was under the impression that capital letters are dominant genes, and getting something like, say, clubfooted was dependent on how many lower case letters/recessive genes you have. My current character is having nothing but clubfooted children, and whenever I check them in debug mode, it says they have no recessive pairs. Am I simply misunderstanding the system and I have it backwards? Did I discover a bug? Or is my save simply corrupted?

@Haruspex
Probably
Crimson7  [author] Dec 27, 2023 @ 4:13am
@OP Cheater
The mod is considered complete. Its been widely tested
OP Cheater Dec 13, 2023 @ 6:21pm
There are too much debuff traits.
Hegemon Sep 18, 2023 @ 10:15am
Is this mod still working?
Can you say this is compatible with When the World Stopped Making sense or not ?
voidlurker Dec 21, 2022 @ 7:21am
So how do the flags work in the save file. How do you set the flags to determine the probability of trait expression for a specific character?
QuinoaFalafel Dec 19, 2022 @ 1:22pm
Okay, so it's about a year late, but I finally have that localization edit. it's really simple, and I had it a long time ago, but I couldn't figure out how to properly test if it worked, and I was also trying to test it via a dependency, but I had it set up wrong. But I finally sorted that out, and can confirm that it works.

So, I don't really know how you want me to share it with you. It's really only one line, so you could just add

"delicate_death;of diminished physique;de sa faible constitution;an schlechter körperlicher Verfassung;;físico disminuido;;;;;;;;;x"

to the newtraits.csv file. But if you want me to send the actual file, or something else, let me know. Also, the same edit would work for the Improved Genetics Advanced version, so ideally that could be updated with it as well, especially since I tend to use that one the most.

P.S. Feel free not to credit me, it's a really minor edit, so I don't really mind
Crimson7  [author] Nov 4, 2022 @ 8:41pm
theres a cleanslate variant?
Dr Fraud Nov 4, 2022 @ 7:35pm
Is the CleanSlate variant compatible with CK2+?
Crimson7  [author] Nov 4, 2022 @ 12:33pm
@Tajuton
Afraid not. I would recommend HIP instead anyway.
Pebble Nov 4, 2022 @ 12:29pm
is it compatible with CK2Plus?

I love this mod. My only question is how does it interact with the Conclave education system?

IE. In conclave, if you have a Curious child, in adolescence they may upgrade one intelligence level: e.g. from Slow to neutral, neutral to Quick, Quick to Genius.
Same goes for Rowdy, but opposite (intelligence downgrade).

What happens with Bright/Dim children? Will these Curious/Rowdy event chains just not fire for them?
Gay Apr 7, 2022 @ 12:33pm
when using the agot version of this mod, I suddenly get an infinite amount of popups about artifacts being added and removed from treasuries. So much so that I cannot play the game. Idk if its a mod incompatibility or if its the fact im using a saved game.
aewhistory Feb 24, 2022 @ 11:14am
I have a saved game i am a bit more than a century into. It has annoyed me that my early and carefully constructed group of geniuses has had only a small number of 'geeneeusses' so i am thinking about adding this mod. However, will this completely screw this game up? also, i assume the ancestors with positive traits i had nursed along won't be passed down, right? I would assume i wouldve needed this mod installed already, but if the mod can access the old traits i would be thrilled.
QuinoaFalafel Feb 8, 2022 @ 2:46pm
By the way, for anyone frustrated with the pregnancy cravings event giving a lot of people non-inherited ugly, harelip, and clubfoot traits, I made a mod to remove that, to hopefully enhance this mod's gameplay: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2746610630
Reiv Feb 4, 2022 @ 6:30am
Can traits still appear randomly like in Vanilla?
misteralter Jan 30, 2022 @ 2:04am
Hello, Crimson7. You said you had guide for how to edit the mod to make it work with an overhaul mod. I want to try to adapted Improved Genetics 2.0 for Elder Kings.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1429073254
Can you share this guide?
Electric-Baton Jan 29, 2022 @ 3:23pm
can this be implemented mid-game?
Crimson7  [author] Jan 9, 2022 @ 9:05am
@Aurora Illuminata

The rate of negative traits has been thoroughly tested and is the same as vanilla, slightly lower. Traits in this mod appear in clusters rather than spread out like vanilla. Thats more realistic but admittedly its not great for min maxers.

Obviously the rate of these conditions is lower in real life than in vanilla or this mod. But thats part of the fun.I would suggest it might just not be your cup ot ftea. You could also try drecreasing the rate of recessive traits. You would have to edit the mod files directly.

Other than that, calling something 'stupid' isnt particularly kind especially when its free work, that has 99% positive rating in the community.
Crimson7  [author] Dec 19, 2021 @ 1:58pm
@QuinoaFalafel

Sure! Thank you for the kind words and the offer. If you add the localization I;'ll update it and credit you.

Mod hasnt been updated in years cause I'm pretty satisfied with it as a final product.

The CK3 version did go up and had a lot more features but also a lot more bugs so the community disliked it. I took it down as a result.

CK3 modding is quite awful across the board. So many issues. I wont return to it until royal court.
QuinoaFalafel Dec 14, 2021 @ 8:32pm
I hope you do look into bringing it back to ck3 at some point, because this mod has basically become a must have for me for almost every run, and I'm definitely going to want something like it when I finally move into ck3.

P.S. It's pretty minor, and I don't know if you know already and don't expect you to update it since it hasn't been updated in several years, but I've noticed there's some missing localization for deaths "resulting" from the new traits.

And honestly, if you don't want to figure it out yourself and update it, but you are willing to update it if I fix it for you, I might be down to do that. I've been learning to mod ck2, so it should be something I could do. Just let me know if you want that.
Crimson7  [author] Dec 10, 2021 @ 12:06pm
@Footlong

Thats a base game feature... Unfortunately. I dont touch the base game events due to compagtibility.
Footlong Dec 8, 2021 @ 7:54pm
@Crimson7

Ahh, I appreciate the clarification. Perhaps a future iteration could remove that result. I much prefer logic to random madness.
Crimson7  [author] Nov 30, 2021 @ 7:25pm
@footlong

Its unlikely hidden recessive traits and more likely the moronic events that if you feed your wife a rabbit your child becomes a clubfoot.

These complaints have been given multiple times.
Dr Fraud Nov 19, 2021 @ 5:47pm
@Footlong

You get a whole lot of Lovin' when you marry your cousin.
Footlong Nov 19, 2021 @ 2:27pm
I liked the idea, right up until my heir had about five negative inherited traits that were not active on either parent. Would possibly be better if I knew the wife I was marrying had these hidden recessive traits without needing to check all her parents, grandparents... Nice work though.
Crimson7  [author] Sep 26, 2021 @ 10:14pm
@Lt. Palo Kan

A subtle negative effect, but yeah. Inbreeding leads to genes becoming either AA or aa after a few generations, which means that recessive genes will pop up more for inbred families. Its a less major effect than I'd like though xD, and the majority of negative genes people get are actually from the feeding your pregnant wife weird food event.
Lt. Palo Kan Sep 17, 2021 @ 1:15pm
so basically inbreeding now has a real negative effect? it makes the expression of negative recessive genes way more likely.
Radanos Aug 15, 2021 @ 2:26pm
@Crimson7
We are waiting for CK3 IG, but we are also waiting for the game to be in a good state in the first place, so take your time and take care
Crimson7  [author] Aug 3, 2021 @ 2:03pm
@WichtigerGamer

Just genetic traits.It improves the inheritance.
WichtigerGamer Aug 3, 2021 @ 10:50am
Is it only about the traits that are already genetic (Genius, Strong, Attractive, Dwarf, Harelip, etc.) or also about other traits like Virtues/Sins or Personality traits like Honest or Craven?
Crimson7  [author] Jul 29, 2021 @ 2:51pm
@anarky

Thank you for your kind words :)
Anarky Jul 29, 2021 @ 1:22am
As someone who is unlikely to get CK3 for a very long time if at all, i have to say i'm surprised and not surprised by the difference in the community.

I for one have used this mod for years and really admire your efforts you put in to it.
Crimson7  [author] Jul 26, 2021 @ 6:48pm
@Lord Likhus

Honestly it was just bad for my mental health seeing all the negative comments and feeling bad every day about something that I literally made for free.

Thats not to say that I wont make IG for Ck3 at some point. But it has to be of a good enough quality that people dont bash it and that I'm happy with it.

Though hopefully now a lot of the more casual CK3 players have left and the majority now are probably familiar with the CK2 IG. When I get time I will work on it.
Lord Likhus Jul 25, 2021 @ 5:35pm
If it caused more issues, maybe just a more light weight mod for CK3? My biggest problem is that it does not matter if a trait has been in a dynasty for 1000 years, if your unlucky with your kid and grandson it is gone. At least extend it one generation.

With the new culture DLC you could have isolated cultures with unique genetic make up that evolves over time.
Lord Likhus Jul 25, 2021 @ 5:26pm
This mod was working in CK3, why remove it because of negative reception? Game feels arcadie without your mod :(
Diablo7 Jul 23, 2021 @ 6:54pm
Ok @Crimson7 thank you for your answer.
Crimson7  [author] Jul 23, 2021 @ 4:56pm
@Diablo7

Any HIP version that is somewhat recent (within the last 2 years) ships with Improved Genetics, so you should definitely not download this.
