I absolutely love this map and hope that it gets converted to Cities Skylines 2 someday.

ExistingUSer Feb 22, 2021 @ 5:33am
@MrMiyagi Got it, thank you
MrMiyagi  [author] Feb 17, 2021 @ 8:07am
@Sxbaru that would be a mod issue rather than a map issue.:steamsad:
ExistingUSer Feb 16, 2021 @ 3:36pm
Is it just me or does anyone else's game go blue once you get to the loading screen?
cesarzunigaelvato Jan 19, 2021 @ 6:24pm
can you take off the dlc please?
MrMiyagi  [author] Jan 9, 2021 @ 6:06am
Aha! I didn't think of that - with a lot of issues, the game can be "put back in order" by verifying integrity of local game files. I should have mentioned that. :D

In case you don't know how that's done, here's a quick clip demonstrating how to do it. https://youtu.be/dGMkYLu091s

Happy mayoring! :chirp:

Hi, I tried the map again and it started working. It must have been some odd thing that was happening yesterday with my computer.
juan.torres2411 Jan 7, 2021 @ 8:44am
Yes I'm using mods but I'm using another map of yours and works wonderfully. I'll send the screenshot later in a different message. I can lay down the plots and everything but when I select the pipes it won't show lit up with the circle so I can't pay them down.
MrMiyagi  [author] Jan 7, 2021 @ 8:41am
Hmm. That's strange. Are you using any mods? They might cause some problems. If you want help, take a screenshot of what you're seeing when you try to put pipes down so I can see what's up.
juan.torres2411 Jan 6, 2021 @ 6:18pm
Hi, I tried using the map, but it wouldnt let me add water pipes from the start.
MrMiyagi  [author] Oct 25, 2020 @ 6:01pm
Hi Misthy, you can click "Ok" when the map theme question pops up. The number one reason for the game crashing is having too many subscriptions - too much memory for your computer's RAM to handle. Do you have lots of items from the workshop?
Bea Oct 25, 2020 @ 2:47pm
Hi, i try starting the map, but request theme map or save (i have the Regular Temperate theme), even so, i tried to start and my game crashed
MrMiyagi  [author] Oct 13, 2020 @ 9:38am
Hi @Misthy no plans currently to do that. It would require road mods, just so you know.
Bea Oct 13, 2020 @ 8:46am
Have a no DLC version?
Czardus  [author] Apr 30, 2020 @ 6:22pm
Aren't we all addicted at this point? :-)
iamskylines Apr 30, 2020 @ 1:10pm
HAHAHAHHA...... you caught that huh? Yeaaaaaaaaah.... I'm kind of an addict!!
MrMiyagi  [author] Apr 30, 2020 @ 11:14am
Cool @thecitiesdork! And holy cow, you have 10K hours in the game! I've got 7K myself. :winter2019joyfultearssnowman: I don't know what happened to my social life, but I don't care. :steamhappy:
iamskylines Apr 30, 2020 @ 10:32am
Excellent map... I'm currently building on it now.... :steamhappy:

@Czardus Please send me a friend request.
gollum65 Feb 14, 2020 @ 3:49pm
Thanks for that. I guess I had never tried that before. I was just spending a day or two looking for a map that I really liked and didn't want to have to quit CS every time to load a new map. Now I know that I have to. And the good news is I did find a map I like. :) It's not one of yours but you do great work so my next city will be on one of your maps.
MrMiyagi  [author] Feb 14, 2020 @ 2:10pm
@gollum65 hoping you come back to see this. You must ALWAYS quit Cities Skylines completely whenever you want to switch to another map or another game, and never try to reload a game while playing. This is a Unity issue, so it's not able to be fixed. What it does is reload everything on top of what you've already loaded. It's loading double of everything:steamfacepalm:, so yes it's going to crash. In sum: if you're in a game or in one of the editors, quit the game entirely if you want to reload the city, reload a map or start something new.
Electrix's road mods have a built in notification that can detect this double loading, so it's a great way to be sure. ;)
Hope this helps you and you should have a much better time now! :chirp:
gollum65 Feb 11, 2020 @ 9:47am
Ok apparently this is NOT a problem with these specific maps. It appears that if I load a map, return to the main menu, then load another map this issue occurs. I've never had this problem before but it's happening now. Sometimes CS crashes out too. But anyway, I apologize for suggesting it was only these specific maps.
gollum65 Feb 11, 2020 @ 9:01am
Hello. I subbed this map along with the required items, and also the "A Coruna" map. With either map when I try to load them I get nothing but a blank white screen with a red flag in the middle No game menus or map features.. The mouse pointer still works but ESC doesn't open any menus and I have to end task on CS. Any idea what's causing this on either map?
Czardus  [author] Nov 20, 2019 @ 4:08am
@confusedkerbal It does not have shipping routes because the rivers are too small for it to be realistic. It has air, rail, and road connections.
mu Nov 20, 2019 @ 12:26am
does it have all types of outside connections?
MrMiyagi  [author] Oct 23, 2019 @ 10:30am
*first are default maps (that came with the game) with names A-Z, then below them are workshop maps A-Z. You'll find Ludington down there hopefully
MrMiyagi  [author] Oct 23, 2019 @ 10:29am
Hi Tuskegee, For whatever reason, the maps (and other items) that are from the workshop are listed alphabetically *below* the list of default maps. So, first are maps with names A-Z, then below them are workshop maps A-Z. :steamfacepalm: Let me know if you found it :)
Tuskegee Oct 23, 2019 @ 10:18am
I subscribed to this map and the two other required assets but the map does not show up in the content manager map list in game. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Rented Tritium Jul 24, 2019 @ 3:35pm
This is one of the best maps I've ever used
eightroomsofelixir Jun 25, 2019 @ 4:14am
Thank you! These wonderings aside, I definitely love the idea of only 2-lane national way in the beginning square. It's quite challenging but realistic, as I always find starting a city at the end of a highway really strange. Wish to see more designs/ideas like this in the future works!
MrMiyagi  [author] Jun 24, 2019 @ 6:03am
Hi eightroomofelixir! The storyline behind the map is really interesting, and so is your information! :) I think it is a conversation for you and Czardus to have, since any knowledge I have on this sort of historical influence on the development of fortifications and surrounding cities is Old World. "Let us find a prominent hill from which we may throw down rocks and chide our enemies that their mother was a hamster and their father smelt of elderberries!!" :steammocking:
Nevertheless I am scribbling New World history notes from the two of you :steamhappy:

Do give a watch to his videos and leave a comment, it's pretty much me taking care of the map page comments; he's got his hands full with his YouTube stuff :)
eightroomsofelixir Jun 22, 2019 @ 8:05pm
A great map, but a little more I was wondering about:

Outside the starting square there is a waterfall on the main river of the region.

A waterfall on the river, especially in the 17-19th century US where settlements began to develop, means the end of river traffic, easy hydroenergy, water mills, early industries, and eventually, future cities. This waterfall-oriented development did not only shown up in the East (such as Georgetown-D.C.) but also in the Midwest, with Minneapolis as a perfect example.

All these cities are closely centered around the waterfall. But on the Ludington map, the waterfall is a little bit far from the starting square, far from major thoroughfares in the region, means city is developed without it, as well as without the river traffic (blocked by the waterfall).

It is certainly possible for cities to develop without a waterfall, and this is only a concern about reality rather than playability, but it's still bothering me a little bit when I see the map.

Absooolutely great map!
Love these meanders creating little harbours and peninsulas, love these gentle hills all over the map.... Absolutely fantastic!
Went through "best" maps or the most popular ones, none of them is half as good as this one :)
sanforduno May 30, 2019 @ 4:57pm
It might ALSO have been 81 tiles (or both together). Both 81 tiles and Vanilla Tree Remover were updated at the same time (for the Campus DLC). Either way, I un-subbed both, then re-subbed both and now the problem I had of not being able to use all the tiles or build roads outside the start square is gone AND I have 81 tiles and VTRemover back as well. Thanks for all your help- I am really enjoying your map. The branch of the river bubbling out from under the rocks at the edge of the map is so well done, and a a treat to find while exploring.
MrMiyagi  [author] May 29, 2019 @ 11:55am
Great! Thanks for letting me know which it was, that will help others. I still use Prop It Up to replace vanilla trees across the city. It doesn't work for street trees, but everything else. Happy building!
sanforduno May 28, 2019 @ 2:41pm
Found it! It was Vanilla Tree Remover, which was just updated 2 days ago. I disabled it and now I can build on your great map anywhere my heart desires! Thanks again for responding to my query.
MrMiyagi  [author] May 28, 2019 @ 5:56am
...and this is why I try to use as few mods as humanly possible LOL
MrMiyagi  [author] May 28, 2019 @ 5:55am
Hi sanforduno, indeed, nothing in this map can prevent you from using those or any mod. As Czardus mentions, it is likely a mod conflict, and now I can definitely confirm that specific mod is the cause of what you describe. Unfortunately, it was so long ago that I forget which mod it is, but it's a popular one that was abandoned. I think it was the add-on More Roads for Network Extensions? Maybe. Old mods that broke (or were abandoned) a long time ago do not make that list of mods. It is just way too much work for our hero Aquilasol who puts that list together for us each time. Check out her workshop, because she's got a guide for "beginning with mods". I believe that has a comprehensive full list of mods. If you have no luck, go through your list of mods and go check their pages for comments and date of last update.
sanforduno May 27, 2019 @ 6:20pm
Czardus- thanks for telling me the mods should work. I already had that list of mod issues- it has helped solve anmy mod issues in the past, but I'll go over all my mods again and look for a conflict. Something is still stopping me from building grids (next to a road), outside your beginning starting square. But thanks again for answering and also for a very nice map. I'll keep trying....
Czardus  [author] May 27, 2019 @ 6:01pm
@sanforduno - This map works fine with mods. If you're getting an error it is likely due to something other than the map. Please see this spreadsheet for a list of known mod issues: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mVFkj_7ij4FLzKs2QJaONNmb9Z-SRqUeG6xFGqEX1ew/htmlview#

I searched for a perfect map for many months, and found yours- a perfect fit for me in topography, looks and style. I subbed and opened it, and am very pleased, BUT (I'm new at this so forgive my question), I WANT to play as I am used to for now, with all my mods. (Unlimited money, 81 tiles and so on- there are lots that I use). I find I cannot use them with your map. Have you actually designed it to be so (and ONLY so)? I am wondering if there is a way for me to use it MY way for now? Thank you for a great map either way....
MrMiyagi  [author] May 11, 2019 @ 3:30pm
halksplay the rivers are completely insane, but actually real. I wrote about it above ^^ in Topography Design. :)
Baldonietis May 11, 2019 @ 12:17pm
everything is ok but the rivers go like hiauhsxfuiahojoslxckz

Started on this map last night and loving it. Thanks MrMiyagi!

this map is BEAUTIFUL. I love the details, but some of the freeway road connections are a touch clippy. 8/10 will build on again :steamhappy:
