hey yall dose this mod still work? thanks
dninemfive  [author] Jan 20, 2022 @ 5:29pm
i'm glad!
Aziz Jan 20, 2022 @ 5:21pm
This is what I wanted thank you so much
dninemfive  [author] Jan 19, 2022 @ 10:46am
@Aziz With the current version the temperature only applies on local maps, not the world map, so practically speaking it only applies to your colony. There isn't a specific option for this, however.
Aziz Jan 19, 2022 @ 8:26am
Can I customize the climate cycle for only my colony, the area my colony in? Or it is only applying for all the planet?
Birds Aren't Real Jul 31, 2021 @ 3:28pm
Hello, when I try adding it in the scenario editor, I do not see an option. I see 2 different "climate cycle" options, but neither of them let me configure anything. Neither of them are called "custom climate cycle."

In what part of the mod list am I supposed to put this in? Willl changing the order fix this?

Birds Aren't Real Jul 31, 2021 @ 2:45pm
Wait, so this might work for 1.3? I did not know this... I hope it does, that would be fantastic.
Birds Aren't Real Jul 31, 2021 @ 2:44pm
I am SUPER glad to find out this mod exists. You are a smart person for thinking of this idea! I hope that it gets updated in the not so distant future. :)
dninemfive  [author] Jul 28, 2021 @ 12:29pm
@jupiterLILY Thanks!
jupiterLILY Jul 28, 2021 @ 11:45am
I just want you to know, in the most low pressure way possible, that I love this mod and I'm excited for your rework if/when you get around to it.
dninemfive  [author] Jul 23, 2021 @ 8:14am
@切れ間ウォーカー Lol no worries

And yeah, most 1.2 mods should already work on 1.3 without issue, the changes made were really focused on certain areas most mods don't touch.
Riftwalker Jul 22, 2021 @ 12:31pm
I was being dumb anyway, because i forgot I set it to a 4 year cycle and just happened to look at the outside temp like 4 times and each one was 75, this appears to work just fine actually on 1.3
Riftwalker Jul 22, 2021 @ 8:40am
i am a stable genius, i swear XD
dninemfive  [author] Jul 21, 2021 @ 11:50pm
@切れ間ウォーカー See the fourth comment down from yours.
Riftwalker Jul 21, 2021 @ 11:21pm
is updating this to 1.3 on your mind? I really like the run away weather effects with the adjustable sin wave stuff.
Pirate of AE Jun 30, 2021 @ 6:04pm
@dninemfive... Having issues getting an idea of the cumulative effect these settings would have. The site you have linked gives a bit of an idea. do you have one, or are able to show roughly what this would do over time?

dninemfive  [author] Jun 21, 2021 @ 2:58pm
No problem!
Sepon Jun 21, 2021 @ 12:36pm
Sounds great, thanks!
dninemfive  [author] Jun 21, 2021 @ 9:16am
@Sepon yes, but I have no plans to do so at the moment. Vanilla has the same issue.

I am planning a rewrite for whenever 1.3 comes out which will likely include that change.
Sepon Jun 21, 2021 @ 7:27am
@dninemfive, thank you for your mod. Is it possible to make it affect world map too? E.g. currently caravans are only affected by the vanilla temperature at the given time of year, even if the real temp is 100 ⁰C +
Freya Apr 3, 2021 @ 6:53am
uh im kinda not that smart when it comes to math especially when its in english since i never dealt with it outside my native language, how would i need to set up the mod for the cycle to go from +30 to -20 over a year?
DiESF1RST Mar 26, 2021 @ 10:04am
so, will this mod let me increase average temperature by +60 cel every year?
GD Mar 19, 2021 @ 5:31am
how to make it go from -250 to 250 degrees and back?
dninemfive  [author] Mar 14, 2021 @ 3:44pm
@Ronivan Even better! Glad to hear it's working properly.
Ronivan Mar 14, 2021 @ 3:39pm
Thank you but I was able to solve the issue by properly sorting my mod list in general; something I should have done from the start.
dninemfive  [author] Mar 14, 2021 @ 1:18pm
@Ronivan Please make an issue [github.com] with screenshots of this problem so I can take a closer look.
Ronivan Mar 14, 2021 @ 12:36pm
I have no idea why, but after I reinstalled the game I cannot use this mod anymore. It don't appear in my edit scenario option, just two climate cycles options and don't have any configuration.
dninemfive  [author] Feb 25, 2021 @ 3:03pm
@Blackrussian the cycle continues forever.
Blackrussian Feb 25, 2021 @ 2:40pm
@dninefive when the cycle ends does it simply reset back or is it gone?
Hagamablabla Jan 18, 2021 @ 6:42pm
If I want the temperature to vary between -30 and 50 every year, would the following conditions be correct?
Period: 1
Factor: 80
Offset: 0 (Assuming I start in a place with an average temperature of 10)
Ronivan Jan 3, 2021 @ 6:00am
Thank you sir. I was able to implement these new parameters by editing my game save file. Worked perfectly.
dninemfive  [author] Jan 3, 2021 @ 1:55am
@Ronivan That happens to be how I use the mod personally. Just set the temperature offset to a negative value, e.g. -20.

For your case, you're also increasing the range of variance to 30 instead of 20, so you'll want to modify the temperature offset factor as well. The values you'd want are as follows:

temperature offset: -25
temperature offset factor: 30
Ronivan Jan 2, 2021 @ 6:52pm
I have no idea on how to use your mod, even with your desmos model I could not figure out how to set my temperature to goes very cold, then return to normal temperature again. Whatever I use in the temperature, it will always goes like -10 then to +10 in a constant cycle. I wanted it to like -25 then return to like +5.
dninemfive  [author] Nov 15, 2020 @ 10:35pm
@🦈Lily🦈 You're welcome, and thanks for the feedback!
🦈Lily🦈 Nov 15, 2020 @ 7:35pm
Thank you very much! I'll fiddle with the numbers a bit to get what I'm looking for. This is a great mod by the way :).
dninemfive  [author] Nov 15, 2020 @ 5:59pm
Your specific case would be this, [www.desmos.com] I think.
dninemfive  [author] Nov 15, 2020 @ 5:55pm
@🦈Lily🦈 You can visualize it with this link. [www.desmos.com] I'm bad with it too :P. You'll probably want to duplicate the given sin function and add them together to see the final result.
🦈Lily🦈 Nov 15, 2020 @ 5:01pm
that second cycle was meant to be use offset = true, that was a typo
🦈Lily🦈 Nov 15, 2020 @ 5:01pm
Hi! I have some trouble interpreting math and visualising graphs. I'm trying to set up a pair of cycles such that I will have runaway cooling, starting with mild dips but gradually intensifying.

I currently have my cycles set up as such -
cycle 1-
period offset = 0
use offset = false
period = 1
temp factor = 10
temp offset = 0
x-coeff = -0.5

cycle 2-
period offset = 2
use offset = false
period = 4
temp factor = 20
temp offset = 0
x-coeff = -1

Is this correct for what I want to achieve?
dninemfive  [author] Nov 13, 2020 @ 5:04pm
@tita I wrote that description for a reason :P

The TL;DR is that it's like the vanilla Climate Cycle game condition which you can add in scenario settings, but my version lets you tweak the various settings so you can shift the cycle or add a linear component, which, yes, would let you simulate catastrophic climate change.
Tita Nov 13, 2020 @ 4:43pm
What is this? Can you simulate catastrophic climate change with this?
VoshkaVonBadMeow Nov 13, 2020 @ 2:37am
@ronivan

Theres a dev tool to add game condition, I'm pretty sure that can be used to add a custom climate cycle, though I haven't used it personally.
jupiterLILY Oct 24, 2020 @ 2:24am
@ronivan I think there's a mod that lets you edit scenarios. That may work.
Ronivan Oct 23, 2020 @ 8:27pm
There is no need for that too. I'll keep this mod for future colonies.
dninemfive  [author] Oct 23, 2020 @ 8:25pm
@Ronivan You can't add any gameconditions like this in that way, as far as I know. There needs to be a post-init call which won't happen if you just insert it in the XML. Adding game conditions in partway through might be an interesting debug option, though, but I have no plans to add it.
Ronivan Oct 23, 2020 @ 8:20pm
I was quite glad to find this mod, however it seems I can't add your condition to my save, just as climate++. I'll keep in mind this one though.
dninemfive  [author] Aug 31, 2020 @ 11:31am
@jupiterLILY I have a rewrite planned, but because it will add dependencies I'm waiting for the next RimWorld update to do it. If one doesn't come out by the time I finish my modding queue [github.com] I'll come back around to it.
jupiterLILY Aug 31, 2020 @ 8:26am
Hiya, this is one of my favourite mods!

I'm wondering if there's a way to reduce the number of times custom climate cycle is listed on the right, I play with about 5 cycles looped over the top of each other and this can really clog up my notification panel thingy.
