[TLP] Legacy Weapon Skins

Love the mod; just having a weird glitch here... So, I set all the Tier 1 weapons to look like magnetic versions (and all the non-faction weapons to be TLP at tier 2, unchanged tier 3)
Nice "everyone has gauss weapons now" vibes. It was working fine, except... For some reason, pistols still have conventional pistol models, though their icons in the equipment screen are changed.
Anyone got a fix?

I cant find this in the mod manager, how do i enable it?

@MattyJohnJovi Because the XCOMMOD file for this mod is aimed at the fan-made alternative launcher. It works fine in 2K launcher, but you have to fix it.

Go to this mod's config folder (in steam workshop folders), open the XCOMMOD file with Notepad or something.
Delete the "contentImage=" line
Delete all of the Description section except the first sentence (so that "RequiresXPACK=true" and tags remains after), and delete the URL in that first sentence

Should then show up as "TLP Legacy Weapon Skins". If a mod genuinely works in WOTC, you can fix a lot of mods in the 2K launcher by making sure they're like the format of the 6 lines you'd have left.

I like this, I prefer the TLP weapons' looks more than the base game's, and this allows me to put them to better use. I do have a one weird bug with the Plasma Cannon (Original not prototype), the barrel is gone and the rest of it appears as the original. Not a big issue I just followed your directions to set it to default and accepted the loss

Thanks for the mod, I really like it. Sadly I also get the LWOTC bug with the cannon showing the original model but with parts of it missing. I couldn't work out what the issue was, has anyone found out?

@All you need is LOVE! I'm not sure. I haven't actually looked at LWOTC, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't work unless they had a completely separate cannon weapon template.


@Sinriel I don't think the Legacy armors work the same way as the vanilla ones. The Legacy armors are single "suits" as far as I'm aware and the base game ones are made up of several modular parts. Even if you did use one of the mods that chops them up, there are probably more vanilla pieces than Legacy. You'd have to look at how those mods work and rejig it to also remove (or otherwise replace) the vanilla ones in the game.

Is there a way to fix the cannon weapon from LWOTC to work with the LMG skins? I'm assuming it doesn't work because the "cannon" is technically a different model than the one in vanilla.

Would you be willing to make a mod that does this for the different armor tiers? I much prefer the TLP armors to the regular ones. Or if you can maybe give instructions on how to do it myself.

@Nexolate I don't think it's a conflict as I have no other weapon mods. I subscribed to the one that changes the upgrade tiers to the tlp variants since this post and it changed all of the weapons. However, I just got into mag weapons and it didn't change those to their laser variants so, who knows. I'm genuinely confused. I also keep having some of my cosmetic mod parts get "frozen" onto the character even though I don't actually have it equipped, but that's probably not related and definitely isn't related to this mod... I don't think. Thanks for the reply.

@thebeezneez1981 The mod works by grabbing the weapon template and then editing some values to change the skin. It's possible some other mod is coming in afterwards and changing the assault rifle again to a different set of values or even a different template.

Check whether you have any mods that might be conflicting or change the order of your mod loads so this one loads later.

For whatever reason, I cannot get this to work. It works on my Long War of the Chosen game just fine. All of my weapon models are now the TLP variants, however, I am also playing on vanilla WOTC and none of the weapon skins are being replaced at all.

I have the wotc community highlander subscribed whenever I am playing non LWOTC saves, so, theoretically that shouldn't be the issue. Everything else I use, mod wise, works fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

@ Haywire It sounds like you're expecting there to be a stock version of the TLP weapons with no scopes, grips, etc. This is a misunderstanding, as TLP only shipped with the one set of models (the ones you can see in the trailers and promo screenshots).

If you're looking for a mod that has new, custom edits to the TLP models, I'd recommend TLP Tier Replacer with Visual Upgrades .

Anyone know the template names for the other versions of the TLE weapons?

What I mean is, if I use "TLE_Shotgun_CV" for tier one and load out with "Shotgun T1, I get the one that visually has all the attachments on it.

However, if I load out with "Xcom Shotgun (T1)" then I get the legacy version with no attachments. (ie It looks like a regular pistol-grip riot shotgun). Is there a different template name to call that version?

Let me know if that isn't clear and I'll try to explain better. lol :-)

Nevermind, I found the answer in the comments. "Upslots" is an absolute value, it does not refer to the 1-6 initial list of "styles".

What does "ASSAULTRIFLE_CV_UPSLOT=1" in the configuration ini indicate? That the weapon has 1 upgrade slot or that the weapon has the same amount of upgrade slots as a Conventional weapon (i.e. "1")?

@Nexolate I only use Primary Secondaries because it's a requirement for the RPGO mod, so I usually disable it when I'm not using that.

@Tyler Chambers I haven't used Primary Secondaries in a while, but I don't think you need to disable it. This mod should only affect the basic pistol, which goes in the secondary slot for Sharpshooters. That should still work, assuming they haven't changed anything.

@Sebastev Okay, I concede that one set of weapons uses a different set of vanilla animations. In either case, these skins use whatever animations the TLP weapons use. So yes, in this case the cannons use the default rifle animations just like the TLP weapons do.

@Nexolate not quite. The TLP heavy weapons (light machine guns, laser machine gun whatever its called) are held like regular rifles when fired. The regular heavy weapons are held like gatliing guns which i always thought looked kind of goofy.

@Battlefleet_Covfefe There are several mods that manipulate TLP weapons. You might be looking for Configurable TLP Weapon Upgrades .

If all you like is the looks then this mod just reskins the default weapons to look like the TLP ones, so you can change the weapon attachments as you see fit.

@FA-23rdPA Cpl. Beelzebub All this mod does is reskin the base weapons to use the TLP models. If you only have one Mk I AR then you have some other mod that's limiting the amount of ARs you have in the game.

@hellcry I suspect the reason WOTC Conventional Weapons works is because it uses an older, less cross-mod friendly, method of replacing weapon skins.

I've just done a second test. I disabled all my mods except for this one and set my BULLPUP_BM_UPSLOT value to be 6. You can see the results here: https://i.imgur.com/WhiaZo7.jpg

I don't know what else to suggest. It seems to be a conflict issue with another mod.

only bullpups don't work, no other mods that affects weapons in use except ( [WOTC] Conventional SPARK Rifles ). however i tried with ( [WOTC] Conventional Weapons ) and works ok

for me it does not work for some obscure reason, everything else works ok but not BULLPUP_BM_UPSLOT, i tried to change the value and changed the weapon with a new one, nothing happens.

@hellcry Two things.

1) 2 is the default amount of slots for beam-tier weapons.
2) I tested and editing the BULLPUP_BM_UPSLOT value in the config does change it.

@Boats McGoats I haven't tested it but I don't think they'd be compatible. This mod does not account for attachments added by other mods, it just assumes they're visually blank.

Additionally, when I was checking out their mod the other day it looks like they have their own models/weapon IDs to do the attachments. This mod only references the default models/weapon IDs.

You might consider trying Iridar's Weapon Skin Replacer instead if you want that sort of behavior.

Is this compatible with TLP Weapons with Vanilla Attachments? Meaning, if I use this to replace my default weapons, will they have proper visual attachments, or do I need to use both?
