It's 20% queens iirc
Ammy Jul 28 @ 7:58am
The Brood house, does it produce Queens? I suspect I'm just getting very unlucky, but after my bees were decimated, I've been trying to keep breeding the ones I have, but I've gotten 30 drones and not a single queen so far from the Vampire bees.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 27 @ 5:42am
Maybe one day. Bigger fish to fry right now
Famous5000 Jul 27 @ 5:25am
Would it be possible, if a modder were to help, to make it so they could be rotated? I'm assuming it would require more sprites plus some extra coding to make sure the brood/hybrid chambers work properly.

I'd love to use this on my Odyssey ship and right now, as it stands, if I want the ship to be rotatable, I would need to disassemble the beehives before launching.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 27 @ 5:19am
Just the way they were designed
Famous5000 Jul 27 @ 5:16am
I'm curious but is there any particular reason why rotations are disabled for the beehives? Is it because of the hybridization/brood chambers?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 26 @ 10:57pm
Sounds like something Ludeon should handle, doesn't it?
FluffTrooper Jul 26 @ 10:27pm
howdy, don't know if this has been brought up or is important but with how the beehouses currently work with their linkables and not being rotatable, things get weird on the gravship if you start in one orientation and land in another

@Ammy

My Make Honey Even More Compatible Mod fixes that! Download that, and you can burn other beeswax in the candles!
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 25 @ 10:21am
Yes, compRefuelable doesn't support fuels that depend on stuff uses to built it
Ammy Jul 25 @ 10:04am
Hey Sarg! Minor question, but are the candles supposed to be only accepting normal beeswax for fuel, and not the other colors? I can make the candles in the other colors just fine with the other wax, but its only accepting the regular wax for fuel

@Fireplox

I made a sub-Mod expanding the bee amounts greatly. I was unaware that the Medieval Overhaul Mod added more than just one or two types of bees, and will quickly look into whether or not something can be made for them.

I also have a Mod that lets you use other Mods' types of honey for this Mod's constructs.

Are there any plans in the future to include a bee focused meme? Either in this mod or from Alpha Memes?

Something similar to the Sweets meme from, I forget if that was Vanilla expanded Memes or Alpha Memes. Only focused on honey and stuff?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 23 @ 6:26am
No, I don't ever adapt to large scale overhauls, whether it is CE or MO
FirePlox Jul 23 @ 6:22am
Compatible with Medieval Overhaul? I wanna put em vulture bees into your beehouse
TurtleShroom Jul 22 @ 10:25am
By default, you can only buy Temperate and Mild Bees to start your collection. IMO, those being one tenth of one piece of silver makes sense.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 22 @ 10:05am
No, I'm OK with the prices. VE Trading is basically a cheating mod
Dark Daskin Jul 22 @ 9:53am
All bees and honeycombs are dirt cheap (just $0.1). This means that I can get any of them in large quantities through Vanilla Trading Expanded contracts, which defeats mod's progression. Consider revising the prices.

@Stellar Harbour

In real life, beehives can live in places like northern Canada and Siberia, through Russian winters (the famous Volga beekeepers dominated medieval honey trades), because beehives are insulated and so densely populated that bees' bodies generate enough warmth to keep a hive toasty and comfortable for the bees. That is why, before the glitch, even the plain, normal beehive kept bees from dying in the winter. This is extremely realistic.

Ever wondered why bees make so much honey that even if a beekeeper takes most of it, the bees still thrive?

That's why. Bees die in cold, so they need to have enough honey to feed every single one of them for the entire winter. There is a surplus so great that humans can harvest it too.
TurtleShroom Jul 20 @ 9:14pm
Thank you so much for the bug fix! This was MURDERING my entire colony's production lines.

The crazy part is that, in RL, bees naturally keep hives about ninety degrees at all times because wax actually SEALS and INSULATES.
Jack of All Worlds Jul 20 @ 1:01pm
@Stellar Harbour - in the real world, you can move hives without protection too if you know what you are doing.
Stellar Harbour Jul 20 @ 6:28am
Your pawns can move hives without any protection and nothing happens to them, and you're surprised that bees die in winter? You could’ve figured out they’re weak-ass
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 20 @ 12:01am
v8.02:

All beehouses should now protect bees against temperature extremes.
TheSoundOfTrees Jul 19 @ 2:59pm
I have Drones dying of cold too. Then the queens in one of my pawns inventory died too ( I was trying to haul them to a warm room) - and now my bees in storage cause a "bees exposed to the elements" message, but the message disappears immediately - and then message again, and so on. Not dead yet, but I don't doubt they will.
As if you did not have enough to do.
andrewwang36 Jul 18 @ 8:44pm
kinda reminds me of the old minecraft forestry mod
Jack of All Worlds Jul 18 @ 1:01pm
I had the drones - and only the drones - dying in cold weather as well. Real life beekeeper in Maine - I can vouch that the bees stay alive even when it's well below zero - just like they did in 1.5 before whatever happened in the 1.6 update.
TurtleShroom Jul 17 @ 2:20pm
I hope this won't be too hard for you to fix. :CC1Bomb:
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 17 @ 11:37am
They probably added ticking to thingContainers, but only the last one is ticking, or some such nonsense
TurtleShroom Jul 17 @ 11:02am
For some reason, it only happens to drone bees. It also does not cause errors at all.
TurtleShroom Jul 17 @ 9:21am
Ah, that makes sense. Have you been able to reproduce this bug, though?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 16 @ 10:17pm
No changes here, blame Ludeon
TurtleShroom Jul 16 @ 2:38pm
I have accidentally discovered a catastrophic error in the Mod's V1.6 update. When bees dying to temperature is enabled, bees IN THE BEEHOUSE will also die. I installed Vampire Bees in my outdoor Spacer Beehives and they, despite being safe in the beehive, kept dying, causing me to lose all my progress. This is NOT supposed to happen, both because it doesn't happen in RL and because it never happened until the most recent update.

In V1.5, even the normal Beehouses, which went inactive during cold weather, didn't cause the bees to die. In real life, beehives are really warm and bees don't die over the winter because it's so warm inside a beehive.

This is a critical and angering mistake that completely leveled my most recent saved game, with all the bees dying at once.

Super sadge
Stellar Harbour Jul 16 @ 4:27am
sadge to see bee mod from someone what want to "burn it ALL DOWN!"
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 15 @ 5:03am
haha, burn it ALL DOWN!
Stellar Harbour Jul 15 @ 4:48am
I'm not sure that it's safe to move hives, maybe extracting the bees and combs directly from them would be more sustainable, so we don't destroy ecosystem?
TiraboTurbos Jul 13 @ 12:47pm
@Obeliske
It doesn't have to crash to generate a log, infact, it generates a log CONSTANTLY. You can see it if you activate debug mode, press the button at the top of the screen that opens the log, unpause your game, and let it run. You'll see it generate in real time.
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 13 @ 8:39am
No, you HAVE a log. Go to the game's logging folder. It's there
Obeliske Jul 13 @ 8:36am
There's no log because it's not crashing, it's not doing anything out of the ordinary beside not moving on in the menu. I can hit the button, it depresses but nothing happens. Literally nothing. AFAIK a log is only created when an event happens, it doesn't create a log for no event happening :P

Don't know what to tell you my duder. Only running Alpha mods and Vanilla Expanded mods. I'll see if I can grab a video for you later :)
overfiend_sfd Jul 13 @ 1:35am
if run together with Alpha Mythology - produces red error (error in config BeeResearchTier4)
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 12 @ 11:00pm
You DO have a log. The log generates even if the game crashes. Can't tell you anything without it except that it works for me
Obeliske Jul 12 @ 10:38pm
Took me all day to find the mod causing it and I love your work but this ones the one that's doing it. It stops me from hitting next after hitting "New Colony" on the start splash screen. The button depresses but doesn't proceed. I don't get an error report and it's not crashing, just literal nothing happens. Just a heads up.

Also on a separate note, thanks for the link to the patreon, I subbed for a bit. I've been enjoying yours and Oskar's mods for a long time and my game would be much worse if not for you guys. Keep up the great work, lots of love from Canada.
TiraboTurbos Jul 11 @ 1:56pm
Or lava, ice, or flood bees?
BrenTenkage Jul 11 @ 1:46pm
so...any bees for space?
Sarg Bjornson  [author] Jul 11 @ 9:31am
Eh
GENESIC GAOGAIGAR Jul 11 @ 9:26am
Config error in RB_Bee_Glacial_Queen: description has leading whitespace。a bug
your_guy_ri Jul 11 @ 7:44am
@UnicornMan
A pet?
TiraboTurbos Jul 11 @ 1:23am
@UnicornMan
Actually, that's a different mod.
UnicornMan Jul 11 @ 12:00am
Good news Mark. We can finally be bees.
GENESIC GAOGAIGAR Jul 9 @ 3:49pm
Hello friend, can you add a code to Keyed that reads language translations? There are so many types of bees that it's hard to put in a bee without a local language.
