I'm glad they didn't go under - that would've been quite the tragedy but it's sad they had to sell their soul to pop culture franchisers in order to stay afloat.
I swear a small piece of my childhood dies every time I see a Lego Star Wars this or Lego Pirates of the Caribbean that!
My ex's boy was mad about the Nintendo games. Had to have every damned one of them... it drove me up the wall! They're all the exact same bloody game, just with different textures!
<<Inhales deeply>> Must remain calm though. Don't think about Nintendo... think about...

Ahhh... that's better!
I have two of those sets currently...I went through a phase where I bought a lot. I recently started technical work in some of my models. Very cool things can be done.
That some piece has been in a few other themes, ice planet, unitron, blacktron, spyrius, futuron to name a few. Even in my custom ship the Sanguine Princess!
Instant +1 & favourite! I had that model. Had loads from that set... the big red truck with the mechanical steering & huge dome cockpit was my favourite. Never did find another use for the cockpit "brick" though
My poor mother... that thing cost like £140 at the time! Hehe!
I was mostly into Technic. Built some amazing things with that. Kind of glad I got out of it when I did though. Not long after, Lego lost the patent & started putting out all sorts of weird single-purpose blocks and it stopped feeling like Lego. The new stuff seems more like a Mechano / Kinex / Construx hybrid, not the Lego I know & love!!
If you want more Lego spaceships for building ideas, I find a good source is DeviantArt. I get many a great idea from there!
I didn't build the model - just found the image in a web-search. Was cool enough that I decided to build it.
I look forward to seeing your collection!
Pic editing is another thing entirely. I personally don't have any pro image editors at the moment but I'd recommend Paint Shop Pro by Jasc / Coral / whatever they call themselves these days.
Right now I'm using MSPaint & MSWord for adding basic objects to existing images. It's not pretty but it does the job for now. What software you'll personally find most useful will depend on what kind of results you want to achieve - but simple stuff can be done with the software you get with Windows. More than anything it's about spending the time. Image editing can be a time consuming busines & the better you want the results to be the more time you'll need to spend.
Yeah I could give a few tips.
Probably my best one is to take your screenies with graphics settings turned to High, AA set to FXAA and Ambient Occlusion turned on. Personally I never use PostProcessing, as although it looks gorgeous, it kills all the detail & makes the subject matter look soft & cuddly - which is ok for screenshots of fluffy kittens but not so much for shots of spaceships!
You don't need to play the game on high settings if your computer struggles with them - just toggle the settings up to take your shots, then back down again for gameplay...
I'll see if I can find one thats fitting.
Pepe the Frog Memes, take your pick :P
Or maybe Kermit the Frog?
Link me a suitably appropriate one & I may add it!
