@Blue64 It's dependant on perpetually disturbed pirates probably so that you don't gain reputation with pirates from fighting Assert.

I suggest adding other hostile factions alongside this mod, I use Reavers alongside ASSERT & SPRT, they all fight each-other, and they all fight the NPCs.

is there any reason "Perpetually Perturbed Pirates" was listed as a dependency? This shouldn't be dependent on anything from there, since these ships don't use SPRT Faction, opting to use ASSERT Faction instead.

@Forax91 This is a pretty outdated version of the mod. You should check out the 'test' version. Even though it's listed as just cargo ships it does also have the bases in it as of late 2020.

Hey Splitsie. The drones are spawning but not attacking my base, they attack when i get to there base.

i have a different experience from PHamous69 and Dume, my assertive bases spawn a bunch of drones that dont move, but weapons is active

Dume, same issues however i doing some testing and the weapons do enable after hovering for some time. ( doing further testing)

So I'm guessing something isn't right as the drones aren't actually attacking us, the weapons on the bases work but the drones themselves have weapons disabled. We just kinda pop them out of the sky and made a blender we like to drag them into. any ideas?

So Spiltsie.. I noticed on one of your streams you have and updated AI Encounter version of this loaded.

Is that mod going to replace this and the Rival AI version? if so when?

You need some kind of fighter, or projectile 'drone' to take those things out regardless of the drones.
My friends and I solved our own drone-station problem with stationary base turrets, and fighter craft also loaded with turrets and fixed weapons, allowing us to gun down the station while being kept safe from the drones by our turrets.

'Assertive' is an understatement with these things. I thought this would make a fun addition to a survival world, but the lads and I are getting our teeth kicked out by these things. We barely have a reliable source of iron, and we're getting a drone attack about every thirty minutes, which breaks all our wind turbines, shreds the outside of our base, and wrecks any vehicle not underground before our one turret can chase it off. There are two observer posts near us that we can't take out because of the constant stream of drones coming out of them.

So im trying to get the mod to work with commands but its just not letting me activate this one /MES.Settings.PlanetaryInstallations.EnableSpawns. What should i put at the end "True" Or "1" Please help i love the mod

This mod's busted. As soon as you get a modicum of resources, Observers start spawning within 10km of your base and CONSTANTLY sending attack drones. If you destroy an Observer, another one pops up instantly and continues raiding your base. It's nothing but Fleeting Rivals and Sparrows from dusk to dawn.

@Stretch I'd recommend using the 'test' version. It uses the new RivalAI mod addon for MES and it functions very differently to this version. Bases when they spawn (at least in my experience) never actually launch drones at your base any more unless you approach them. It also includes the new cargo ships which will sometimes launch drones if they or you get too close. Overall I can count on one hand the number of drone attacks I've had from the new version whereas this version... yeah, my base was never not under attack lol.

I'm having issues with this mod. It only spawns Observers and Outposts, always in War mode, I guess because they send quite a lot of Fleeting Rivals and one other type I can't recall right now.
The drones are taken out by turrets easily enough but their carcasses crash around and in to my base, taking out blocks and leaving me doing nothing but repairing. I might get 30 minutes down time now and then but then it's back to constantly repairing. Try to build a ship... taken out by a drone carcass. Build a defense tower. Taken out by drone carcasses. Park up your miner. Taken out by drone carcasses. I've even been killed by falling drone parts multiple times.
It was funny for a while.. now it's just tiresome so I've removed it which is a shame cause I love the concept.
Using MES, Assertive Cargo, this and no other mods which should mess with spawns at all.

Not sure if the Jumping Spider is one of yours but it seems a bit broken like the spider has already been squished or something.

Is this mod and MES now basing spawn rate and difficulty based on your threat? I realized that my threat is quite high using MES.GTS because I'm playing the IO mod and have several fixed mining sites, 2-5km from my main base. Each mining site has 4 turrets....so I have a threat over 1000, but obviously that's inflated because the bases can't support each other exactly. Is this why I have a Monster Reaver one shot a mining site in 5s, or have seemly non-stop attacks from your assertive mod, which just rip me to shreds? To reduce threat, is it advised to keep your own bases atleast 5km apart?

As far as the targetting, I'm blaming my PC speed, as I'm at 100% constantly. It does seems to work when the world is cleaned up, but each assertive attack creates dozens of grids of junk which the system doesn't clean up quickly, and getting attacked every 5 minutes by multiple ships just exponentially compounds the problem. If I can reduce my threat, perhaps I won't be attacked so often.

My base is on top of a hill. I spawned several targets at 800m range (IO mod has increased it to 1000m), gave ownership to pirates and/or nobody (have target neutrals on as well). My base attacked the target but it took several seconds to acquire. Perhaps because the assert ship is coming in fast, below the horizon because of the hills, its simply not getting acquired. Maybe the literal HUNDREDS of meteor craters around my base (I'll never enable high weather again, especially with lightning/decoys completely borked) are also somehow affecting the targetting. I didn't have this problem at a satellite mining base which is on relatively flat terrain and craterless. Maybe a range mod increasing my turret range even further would help the situation.

Is there a debug command or anyway to artificially inflate your threat? I'd love to have that ability so I can better try to isolate this issue.

Cheers Splitsie - yeah, I've tried everything, going to minimal graphics settings because I noticed my CPU was at 100% constantly (games freezes for 1-2 seconds every few minutes or so). Its so odd that turrets DO engage, but only at 250m...a good design would automatically dial down perf hogging features, like tracking....but who said SE was a good design? Lol. CPU is at 80% now, same results. Waiting to here feedback from IO page to see if anyone else running your mod has the problem. Your drones are basically kamikazes, I've taken more damage from ship parts crashing into the base, than the bullets....maybe you should program a drone every once in a while to do that...haha!

Your antenna should have nothing to do with range on the turrets, it sounds like you've got some sort of conflict or as you mention, the industrial overhaul mod broke something

Well, the antenna was not the cause of the problem of my turrets not firing until the target is within 200m range. No idea WTF is happening. Lots of previously reported issues with turrets not firing with no solutions - Maybe the Industrial Overhaul mod change in 1.3 caused the problem as the turrets now have a range of 1000 where previously I thought vanilla max range was 800.

So the "constant" attacks I was getting, was turning into a HUGE PITA, compounded with the antenna problem described below. In an effort to turn the non-assertive/pirate faction bases non-red to give me an easier chance to spot incoming, I decided to check "auto accept peace" on all factions. The assertive attacks stopped completely. Is this cheating the mod? Or by enabling peace automatically, this allows the mod to function correctly, going from war back to peace mod based on its timers?? I haven't been attacked since, even though I unchecked auto-peace on assertive/pirates...maybe its a big timer? Should I not have done this, and the only way to stop the attacks is go towards their direction with an offensive asset and kill their base?? Inquiring minds want to know!

Well, one critical lesson I learned from this mod - don't let your antenna get hit - I had one off to the side of my base, along with a decoy...which NEVER worked to prevent lightning damage (so I put a mod on to stop that) - my antenna getting taken out caused my turrets to only attack when the assertive ship got within 200m range..of ME! Then my turrets blew it out of the sky, along with the wreckage nose diving into my Industrial Overhaul modded base...vital lesson, shall never forget!

To see your threat, go into chat and type /MES.GTS - a threat level of 700ish is when you can start to be attacked. The problem I'm having is that its constant attacks, every 5min or so, by 1 ship. I can kill them, but they crash into my base, so I am frantically trying to build walls. As I'm 8 blocks high and 21 square, its a lot to build - thankfully its all coming from 1 direction. When I have the side of the wall facing the attacks completed, I will put turrets on my rover and try to kill the source - I don't see an ASSERT base on the HUD, but I do see an observer craft about 7km away, so maybe if I kill it, the attacks will stop. I honestly don't know if I have been in war mode this entire time, or if I got into war mode, it launches an attack, I kill it, and then it goes into peace mode...for 5 minutes!! Regardless, this constant attacking is starting to get annoying.

love this mod since i dont play multiplayer (learned from playing ARK that multiplayer public servers for any game are toxic and not worth playing) it gives a challenge to the game and allows you to have some large battles.

@JessterGaming I'm having the same issue. I have all the Assertive mods, enabled scripts and enabled drones but haven't been proactively attacked. I have plenty of turrets and several mid sized buildings now so I would doubt I'm still below the threat score?
It doesn't seem to be an issue with the drones spawning themselves as they appear if I approach a ship.

I'm on a server that is trying to run assertive installations and am trying to troubleshoot why it does not work. The spawngroups exist, but /MES.GESAP shows no planetary installations. we also have reavers and corruption. I noticed the Assertive faction is not on the list, I was wondering if this would stop stations from spawning.

This mod doesn't use RivalAI for it's drone handling anyway, that's in the updated test version of the mod. I can't honestly recall if the drones from the updated version were targeting decoys correctly last time I played. I would recommend updating though, the newer version doesn't have the same constant drone attacks so it makes things a lot more tolerable and gives you more of an ability to pre-emptively attack bases.

Seems its not Rival AI. might just have to drop the mod, really dont want to but there is no defense against them, they prio turrets over decoys so im spending 90% of my time firefighting

@Mizar Sparrow's and Fleeting Rival's, which are the only 2 ive seen so far, My base does Destroy them but ive had about 7 decoys on my grid which remain untouched, im wondering if its caused by Rival AI.
