But why not low orbit?
OctoBooze  [author] Jan 14, 2022 @ 12:50am
This station is meant for in game zero G. Read the description ;)
COG Redshirt Jan 12, 2022 @ 7:21am
So the ISS won't stay up in low orbit. Since it's a low orbit station. It won't say up. Do i need to put it in high orbit or something?

Dragon Done, ISS has be credited
StarCoreDragon Apr 13, 2020 @ 12:59am
thanks!
OctoBooze  [author] Apr 13, 2020 @ 12:57am
By all means go ahead
StarCoreDragon Apr 13, 2020 @ 12:11am
Hey OctoMoose, I am currently doing a SpaceX Cargo Dragon workshop build. Can I use your ISS station showing the Dragon Docking to it? I will make sure to credit you

Thank you it work an please keep up the good work
OctoBooze  [author] Jan 21, 2020 @ 6:06am
Just tested it and it should work right after pasting automatically. Make sure your world has scripts enabled as the feature uses Isy's solar tracking script
Swat842® Jan 21, 2020 @ 5:50am
Hi OctoMoose I like the ISS that you made an I'm having a hard time getting it to move to catch the sun what am I doing wrong.. An if you want could you accept the Friend request I have sent you so we can do this in PM... Thank's keep up the good work

Just a small thing: The LCD on the quest airlock says Guest, Shouldnt it be Quest?
Kerry Sep 26, 2019 @ 12:41am
Regardless of what happens these are beautiful pieces so thank you for them.
Kerry Sep 26, 2019 @ 12:39am
Actually I was thinking about them in terms of potential "future projects" for you, not as an addon module or anything like that.

Now what I can do - with your permission of course - is make an addition to the station, topside.

I'll add the hangar there and republish it, the latter happening ONLY with your permission, as "Space Station Freedom".
OctoBooze  [author] Sep 26, 2019 @ 12:32am
What you're asking is a total and utter overhaul of an already big piece of work in addition to a complete station so I'm gonna have to decline these suggestions and leave these as is.

Regarding your statement of the Columbia disaster. One of the reasons they didn't dock with ISS was their different orbital inclinations, as well as the fact that the shuttle wasn't configured to dock with anything. No fuel, no capability. It's all speculation but it's reasonable to assume that the space Station Freedom would've been set in similar orbit owing to the science needs of the station so they would've been just as much out of luck there unfortunately.
Kerry Sep 25, 2019 @ 1:53pm
Whatever you do, however, please make sure the new station is airtight, with interior connectors perhaps? It's rather annoying to have to fire up all the air generators individually.
Kerry Sep 25, 2019 @ 1:52pm
Freedom's service bay, as proposed, would have done on-orbit construction, maintenance and repairs of one-man ships, drones, satellites and the shuttle if necessary, and been a place to store the shuttle in case of meteor storms instead of having it sitting exposed.

So you're right. It wouldn't have been a hangar, it would have been more of a one-bay factory and "space drydock".

However, budget cuts reduced it to just another docking port.

So think of the hangar-equipped build as a "theoretical replica". A replica of Space Station Freedom, "as proposed" instead of "as built".

As an aside and meaning no disrespect, had the service bay been built as proposed, the brave crew of shuttle Columbia wouldn't have died as they could have repaired the shuttle before it started its' fatal descent and eventual breakup over my home state of Texas.

Speaking of the shuttle, check your page. I've posted some ideas on that beauty as well as the Mobile Launching Platform.
OctoBooze  [author] Sep 24, 2019 @ 2:07pm
Yes and no. Freedom had a proposed service bay yes, but it was in reality just space left for the shuttle to dock. Not really what I'd call a hangar. That said the first solar tower version of the proposed station might be fun to create but no promises.

GONG he has spoken
Kerry Sep 24, 2019 @ 2:27am
Well, it is technically a replica, since the original design for Space Station Freedom (which later became the ISS) included a refueling and repair bay for space shuttles, drones and satellites.
OctoBooze  [author] Sep 24, 2019 @ 2:17am
Nope, prefer to just do replicas.
Kerry Sep 23, 2019 @ 7:23pm
Could you make me a custom version with a hangar on it?

Gotta be a big one, something battleship-sized.
OctoBooze  [author] Jul 27, 2019 @ 1:02pm
Ah. Could've sworn I updated this file first thing when I saw Alpha-5 using them on his realistic stuff... I'll do a touch up tomorrow and get some texture in. Won't be a huge difference though. Thanks for letting me know! :)

paint colors
carbon fiber and the like
OctoBooze  [author] Jul 27, 2019 @ 12:32pm
Can't really think how it would improve... The new interior blocks arent good for this imo

try making this with dlc, it will look even better!
CTH2004 Mar 3, 2019 @ 9:29am
And, you should have conveyrs connecting all the modules. to make it look realistic, hid them and/ or use connecters!
CTH2004 Mar 3, 2019 @ 9:28am
Will you update it whenever a new part is added to the actuall I.S.S

And, you could make another one that is more function over looks!

Just a thought though!
_SD_ Nov 14, 2018 @ 1:35pm
Nice nice! ;)
Struppey Aug 30, 2018 @ 12:19pm
Awesome Model! Nice to see, that someone else does scaled models in good quality.
What about a connector block? I coupled the Orbiter to it and it looks nice!

Haven't checked and I'm out and about traveling right now so I can't check it... You could sub and paste it onto a blank world and check what it says. All I remember is that PCU is around 39K
Damaske Aug 14, 2018 @ 11:38am
What is the current station block count? Reason i ask is that i am playing ona aserver that has a 8k block limit. I think this is over that but i'd to make sure. LOVE the design by the way!
Nuri Aug 10, 2018 @ 2:51pm
Sweet, now I can film every Earth alien invasion movie to date, cheers! Nice build.
Mentor_N7 Aug 10, 2018 @ 1:56pm
Какие НАСА, ээ?
Dr. Skeeter Aug 10, 2018 @ 10:02am
Well, I built 50K+ small grid spaceships with pressurized interiors. they work. I urge you to try that, you can`t fail that badly.
OctoBooze  [author] Aug 10, 2018 @ 9:47am
Small blocks are something that I thought about, but given the scale it'd bloat the block-count absurdly high and would start to have a performance hit too hard. May have to give it a shot in the future though, lots of potential there. Agree with you on 1 block wide interior being cramped... there's a lot I'd like to put in but blocks can't sadly overlap
Dr. Skeeter Aug 10, 2018 @ 9:30am
it would be better to build this out of small blocks, could be more detailed. One block wide interior isnt that much to play with, but you could have 8-6 blocks of space with small blocks.
OctoBooze  [author] Aug 10, 2018 @ 9:09am
@Ender found myself in similar situation and decided not to allow such state of workshop to exist so I had to make my own even though I already had a decent one. Glad I did, and happy that you enjoy it :)
_SD_ Aug 10, 2018 @ 8:57am
Thanks thanks! love it...
Ender Aug 10, 2018 @ 5:51am
I was looking through the workshop just last week for a good ISS build, most are over 3 years old.
This is brilliant! Thank you OctoMoose for making this awesome recreation. :steamhappy:
cptsavarus Aug 4, 2018 @ 5:49am
I agree with JoeMama! This is definitely worthy of a top-slot!
Very authentic. Love the attention to detail. Great job!

Nice bit of real-world comparison here for anyone who's interested...

Thank you for the compliment. Made the build worth it :)

this should be in top rated all time
