you say in the title 'use the pack' but it would be nice if you would actually put a link to that 'pack' in the discription

Eh I get it, nice to have different types but I'll soon be rebuilding this mod from scratch to make it work. Should be easy enough.

@Slye_Fox why on earth would the author put the effort into making such a weird cosmetic variant?
Slye_Fox Jul 22, 2018 @ 2:32am
I'd like to suggest a varient:
A fake muzzle brake version: https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1570/26095544910_fddf65c130_c.jpg

For comparison, the front of a Tiger I was about 100mm, ignoring the slight slope (probably resulting in ~105mm effective thickness). The front of a Tiger II turret was at 185mm, with the front armour being 150mm (angled at 50° for an effective thickness of ~230mm).

Considering that the 17 pdr's APBC could pen 163mm of armour at 500m, and the APDS (though inaccurate as fuck historically, not being fin-stabilised) could pen 256mm at 500m, it depends. If you just want to model APCBC, 3 blocks of heavy armour is quite accurate. If you want to model the gun's theoretically higher performance firing APDS, then it should be able to penetrate 4-5 small heavy armour blocks

@Sheyki Considering a small ship block is 0.5m*0.5m*0.5m, no. It's 'only' 1500mm of armour, but that assumes that the blocks are solid, which, you can see when you're constructing them, they are not. Also, their mass is way too low for a solid block of steel of that size.

The mass of a small heavy armour block in-game is 112 kg. The density of steel is approximately 7700 kg/m^3, and with a volume of 0.125m^3, you would expect a solid block to have a mass of 962.5 kg, implying that the block by volume is only 11.6% steel (or 89.4% hollow).

We have to make some more assumptions (!) here than I'd like, but based on those assumptions, 3 heavy armour blocks is only 174.5mm of armour.

Haha that's true @Sheyki, I'll be balancing it better one I have a couple of other weapons to give choices for different styles.
Sheyki Jul 19, 2018 @ 2:03am
Dawg. 3 small heavy blocks is like 2500mm of armor D: Still good to see a penetration mechanic, hopefully it will work flawlessly with new MP.
