I haven't tested for a long time but it has been standing the test of time AFAIK!
I was just curious :)
Hey,
That's a good question. Short answer : no, not in the current state.
Long answer would be : Maybe with more advanced modding nowledge, one could make an in-game option to turn it on/off locally, but I'll level with you : I don't have that advanced modding knowledge :p I could try and investigate, but ... I'd rather not make any promise at this point :x
I hadn't caught on that the giant scorpions tthat used to have a bit of variety were all looking the same so I fixed that. Likewise, the FX that used to accompagny the poison spit and web throw abilities had completely vanished so it should now be fixed.
Lastly I made a few tweaks to materials just for the giggles.
I'd be curious to hear if it's now working with a g-portal server :)
So far it seems to be doing alright, fortunately.
As for the debate, don't worry, I absolutely trust that scorpions can still trigger people! Phobias are still pretty much irrational ( or TOO rationnal ! ) So anything goes. I can't and won't do much more about it though, I didn't want to go all the way and replace them with pink teddy bears or non thematic stuff like this. I wouldn't have had the knowledge to do so anyway :p
Hmm or maybe with a very evil Thomas the tank engine.. hmm. ( No )
Thanks for the support to everyone by the way!
I just visited the Flotsam area in the Swamp and there is a certain vendor there which has a scorpion and an actual black widow spider behind it that scared the f out of me, not sure if that is the only occurance due to a bug as it cannot leave the cage, but now I am too afraid to explore more of this area as it may be happening with a normal spider mob as well.
Thank you once again for the amazing mod and hopefully this can be resolved or clarified!
Yes, scorpions are arachnides. But they have a completely different Look than spiders. For me it is a visual trigger, where scorpions generally don't fall into that scheme. But scorpion CAN be problematic, IF they have very long (or longer) legs. The scorpions in the game have very short legs and they rather "drive" than "crawl", so it's okay for me. But I can imagine, that heavy arachnophobics can even have issues with that. In ARK, for instance, I have deactivated scorpions as well, because their legs and walking remind me too much of spiders, though the body portions do not trigger as such.
Just wanted to give some more insight into the subject from my experience. Hope it helps somehow. If scorpion legs seem to trigger me, I try not to look at them, which in this case is easy, because they are so small.
Well, "most" people. :p"
SOOOO much this, I still dont understand why devs even put them in game w/o the option to turn them off. Scorpions are only cool and slightly icky but for spiders i can 100% say for me the big difference is the claws and tail; they make them normal". spiders are odd with how they move and scorpions are more limited in their skittering due to claws and the tail lets you see where they are facing AND also they dont BTK (web, poison and drink) their prey, this mod is a godsend <3
Well, "most" people. :p
And, thanks for all the awards, I'm humbled :)
