Patch that renames the "Man-At-Arms" to "Chevalier" to avoid confusion
The General - Born Naughty Dec 21, 2024 @ 2:49pm
the last update is almost 6 years ago. I think it's safe to say this one is abondoned.
SpyroShock Dec 21, 2024 @ 12:49pm
Since the last two comments were left years ago, I'm assuming that the editor isn't reading them anymore, but I'm gonna reiterate the same thing. The mod is great but it would be nice if Man-At-Arms could be renamed now that there is another unit with the same name in the game.
Sailor Cat Sep 10, 2022 @ 12:31pm
Mod still works fine. Man-at-arms could stand to be renamed, but otherwise.
Akkadon May 16, 2021 @ 2:55am
Since the last game update added a man-at-arms unit as well, is there gonna be an update to this mod or are there no issues with that?
Vadar Mar 29, 2021 @ 2:02am
Too bad there is no translation in French
Scarelya Sep 20, 2020 @ 5:41am
Why does Normandy spawn Saint-Brieuc on YNAMP maps? To me it seems they should spawn in Rouen or at least Caen...
Cuso Jun 20, 2020 @ 2:08am
Hi! The man at arms doesn't require iron like the knight. Is this by design or should it require it?
Erigawn Oct 19, 2019 @ 4:15pm
Even so, BuffaloError with the latest update to the game itself a lot of mods are just not compatible. I think I've even had some issues with this one where it says it is but I don't have the option to choose Normandy as a playable people in game. One day though.
BuffaloError Oct 19, 2019 @ 1:12pm
Same Erigawn, Same!

Would also LOVE to see Motte and Bailey be a infrastructure option for William of England!

10/10 awesome mod!
Erigawn Aug 1, 2019 @ 10:32am
Still hoping for RED compatibility. One day. Will conquer with style.
Digihuman  [author] Aug 1, 2019 @ 7:37am
Hey, thanks for catching this and letting us know :0
joakim.westergaard Aug 1, 2019 @ 5:57am
Just discovered a small bug making the mod incompatible with JFD's RwF - Government Titles: A lot of tags in Normandy_Localisation.sql uses SWITZERLAND (e.g. LOC_CIVILIZATION_CVS_SWITZERLAND_DESCRIPTION_JFD_CIVILIZATION) instead of "NORMANDY" (e.g. LOC_CIVILIZATION_CVS_NORMANDY_DESCRIPTION_JFD_CIVILIZATION). Thx for a great mod!
The General - Born Naughty Jul 28, 2019 @ 5:11pm
@Chimpan'G Thanks, I have GS now and it works. There's one bug though: When I go to the civilopedia and to Normandy, If I click on the leader William the game immediately crashes. It just exits the game, goes to desktop, no warning, no nothing. No problem with Rollo, only with William.
The General - Born Naughty Mar 15, 2019 @ 10:41am
@Chimpan'G Okay, clear. Appreciate it :-)
chimp  [author] Mar 15, 2019 @ 10:13am
Hey @born_naughty the previous versions (available for download in the description) should be fine to play with GS, it's just that making things cross-compatible without the update to the SDK tools is a pain in the butt, so the latest live version is GS only. When the tools are updated, we'll see how easy it is to make things cross-compatible across versions again. Check the change notes on steam though so that you know which version came before the GS update to make sure you've got the version that will work for you :)
The General - Born Naughty Mar 15, 2019 @ 7:02am
Hi Chimpan'G, I have a general question about your mods. As a player who hasn't bought gathering storm yet and is still enjoying Rise & Fall, why are you making your mods unavailable to me. The more people enjoy your mods the better right?
Follow-up question. If I do decide to buy GS, can I enable your mods and still play a game with the R&F ruleset? I would consider buying GS just for the added civilizations if it means your mods would work.
chimp  [author] Mar 13, 2019 @ 4:37pm
@ngdennyws not yet - still got plenty more of these to update.

@harrisonluke43 I'm not sure why you're unable to look at the pedias - the screenshots on William's steam page are actually taken from the pedia in question. Are you using any mods that change the pedias? Thank you for the heads up about the Longbowman - while it doesn't appear on the selection screen, it will be available in game. I'll see if I can get something sorted for the selection screen in an update to come.
harrisonluke43 Mar 13, 2019 @ 3:32pm
@ChimpanG For some reason the game crashes when I try to access the civilopedia page for William Normandy (but not William England). Do you know if there is a fix for this or if it is a conflict with another mod? Also the Longbowmen unit from S&T Unique Units does not appear for England when selecting William as the leader.
ngdennyws Mar 7, 2019 @ 9:35pm
@ChimpanG, are you done with ragnar by any chance? That would be one hell of a mod!
king_sammy66 Jan 27, 2019 @ 3:58pm
Just discovered that my family and last name comes from "La Londe", a small town in Normandy, France. Watched a BBC documentary on the "Normans", and was pleasantly suprised to find out that they were pretty badass group of dudes back in the day.
siau2tie1 Oct 14, 2018 @ 9:01am
I edited by myself to make Familia Regis replace the Longswordsman from Steel and Thunder: Unit Expansion mod.
jemalomlcs Sep 11, 2018 @ 7:40am
great selection of Leaders... and many details... Love it !
LikeABith Jul 5, 2018 @ 3:41pm
Hey I hear ya. I'm always checking the score in order to pace myself haha. I'll check that stuff out. Thanks!
chimp  [author] Jul 5, 2018 @ 6:05am
@LikeABith lol well we're just pleased that people enjoy playing with them really, but the sentiment is very much appreciated :) haha that is a bit out of our realm but I don't blame you for wanting one. Wakanda is a cool world! Maybe one day hey!

If you're up for some mods that change the gameplay a little, check out Deliverator's stuff (he's the best imo) and I know Tiramisu and FearSunn have released some cool mods too. There's one called Diplomatic Visibility Matters (I think) which is quite lightweight on the surface, but I found it adds a nice little dynamic to the game. Particularly for me because I suck and I rely on checking the score screen to see how bad I'm doing - that mod takes it away and replaces it with something a little more dynamic
LikeABith Jul 5, 2018 @ 2:27am
This may be totally out of your guy's roadmap for modding, but if you ever get a chance, a Wakanda civ (from Black Panther) would be totaly rad. Anyway, thanks again for what you've made so far!
LikeABith Jul 5, 2018 @ 2:25am
Sounds great! Thanks for the references! CIVITAS is still the best though, if you ask me ;). You guys are great at keeping the civs lore/vanilla friendly.
chimp  [author] Jul 5, 2018 @ 2:17am
@LikeABith haha well there are plenty modders out there with some great civs if you get restless. Off the top of my head, our very own SeelingCat, Sukritact, Merrick, Enigma, JFD, Antagonise, RFormica, Leugi have released a bunch of civs and leaders on the workshop. I'm sure I've forgotten some names (sorry!), but it's definitely worth having a look around. It's a shame the workshop can't filter by Civilizations/alt leaders so you might just want to find their personal workshop pages to find all the stuff they've been involved in.
LikeABith Jul 5, 2018 @ 2:06am
No way that's fetching awesome! Can't wait to use it. Now I'm greedy for more civs from that time period =P
chimp  [author] Jul 5, 2018 @ 1:55am
@LikeABith why thank you, that's amazing to hear! Lol it's funny you mention that... https://i.imgur.com/dFaE23b.jpg ;)

Haven't finished his code and stuff yet as there's a bunch of things to be finished first, but he'll make it onto the workshop eventually.
LikeABith Jul 4, 2018 @ 6:43pm
The CIVITAS mods are the best ones on the workshop. Great job guys. Any chance of making a Danish/Viking civ under the rule of Ragnar Lothbrok? Would pair well with Rollo of Normandy
LordPaptacular Jul 1, 2018 @ 10:18am
@Chimpan'G
Maybe not... on second thought.
chimp  [author] Jul 1, 2018 @ 8:54am
@LordPaptacular it certainly can if you can translate it, of course. You can find the game text files in the mod's directory (\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\289070\1387897065\Core) and then you'll want the "_localsation.sql" files from the Civilization and/or leader folders. That should give you the right headers along with the text itself. Hope that helps!
LordPaptacular Jul 1, 2018 @ 6:50am
Can this be in German? I can translate it.
chimp  [author] Jun 26, 2018 @ 10:01am
Merci beaucoup @Albelas :) Oh that would be amazing, we'd definitely welcome the support. If there's anything I can do to help out with that, just let me know what you need.

My email is chimpang.mod@gmail.com if you want to get in touch directly
Albelas Jun 26, 2018 @ 6:40am
your mod is awesome ! As a french I can try to translate your mod.
gurrek2 Jun 15, 2018 @ 3:49am
I first thought it was Northumbria :steamfacepalm:
chimp  [author] Jun 15, 2018 @ 3:10am
@gurrek2 The starting positions are in Rouen, which is in northern France. If you want to change them though, you can edit the YNAMP file in the mod's 'Mod Support' directory (check the description above) and use this grid (https://imgur.com/a/H0zJG) to relocate the coordinates?

Hope that helps!
gurrek2 Jun 14, 2018 @ 11:25pm
On the YNAMP Play Europe Again i always spawn in France, I would really love if that could change :D
Void Spawn Jun 9, 2018 @ 2:35pm
@Chipan'G awesome i want more viking leaders
my profile Jun 8, 2018 @ 5:11pm
I would like to see Robert Guiscard in the game.
chimp  [author] Jun 7, 2018 @ 2:38pm
@Vognir haha the thought crossed my mind I won't lie, but I've got another Viking leader (not for Normandy) that I'd like save for a badass viking unit I've got my eye on ;)
Void Spawn Jun 3, 2018 @ 10:04pm
@chimpan'G have you considered adding another unique unit for Rollo it might be cool to see some viking esque norman units since when he bacame duke he still had mamy danish vikings in his retinue?
chimp  [author] May 27, 2018 @ 2:47pm
@ralliv23 thank you :) and yes of course, just open the mod's folder. If you're on PC it will be this directory: "\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\289070\1387897065\Core\Leaders\Rollo"

Inside that directory, you'll want to open the "Rollo_Leader.sql" file in a text editor (eg: Notepad++ or something). Scroll to the bottom and you'll see two entries for colours. Primary is your background, Secondary is your foreground. These are RGBA values, so just leave the last value as 255, and then you can change the first three numbers to whatever RGB you like.

Rollo's coloured icon won't change with this of course as that's a texture file, but your cities and borders etc will all change to your new RGB colours. Have fun tinkering! :)

P.S. Make a note of your colours somewhere or they'll get overwritten if/when we update this mod.
ralliv23 May 27, 2018 @ 9:57am
Great mod. Often wondered my Normandy was never included in base games. I would like, however, to change Rollo's civ colors. I have trouble distinguishing similar colors. is this possible?
Erigawn May 24, 2018 @ 2:15pm
Awesome. I'll keep a look out!
chimp  [author] May 24, 2018 @ 10:05am
Whoops, Gedemon or GeloDGreat I was meant to say
chimp  [author] May 24, 2018 @ 10:02am
Thank you for the feedback everyone :D

@Birb lol sorry! We do try to make them cross-compatible where we can, but sometimes the key mechanics of the mod hangs on stuff that is not possible without R&F, so a vanilla version would be too far removed from the original design. If it's just something like a building providing Loyalty or something, then it'll be made cross-compatible of course, but unfortunately that's not the case here. At least with William anyway. I might be able to make Rollo available for vanilla at some point so I'll see what I can do. It'll be a little while though to get it sorted.

@Erigawn I've actually no idea how RED is made, but I'll ask GeloDGreat because they do some amazing stuff with RED. It might be a case of having it as a separate mod because of the way artdefs work, but I'm really not sure. I'll send them a message though and find out.
Erigawn May 23, 2018 @ 11:35pm
Will this be, or is now, compatiable with RED?
Jair F. Kennedy May 23, 2018 @ 9:26pm
Yay another mod that requires R&F! :steamfacepalm:
