Alrighty so i moved it up in the load order and that fixed things, really funny that happened with a mod ive used before and love so much.
My guess is it was extra boss rewards being placed above it without a patch for the boss reworks which i admit is stupid on my part

Why is it that when i load into the necromancer apprentice fight, i have to fight the necromancer lord (champion) and it wipes my party?

it appears that crit riposte on the necromancer just closes the game, not much you can do, since the creator's not working on this i'd recommend just getting rid of this mod i suppose

While I haven't done any iteration of the crew on my current file yet, I only now realize that the separate anchorman fix mod is not needed here. Should it be safe to remove that mod from it?

Can anyone explain to me how to use the Necromancer's scroll? All it did was shows up and then dies at the end of same turn it summoned

Not compatible with arduous edition( reason are obvious) and will brick game when going against damned crew on cove

The Sunken Crew heal not working is an oversight from when I reworked it to not include the highly unstable anchor grab mechanic. I might fix it if I have the time and feel inspired, but I'm not really working on dd mods anymore.

I know summons are a bit rough especially when interacting with other mods, but I love the idea too much to retcon it. Plus it's hard to come up with class independant trinkets that are both unique and balanced (at least a little) and I prefer wacky ideas over simple stat trinkets.

@Chogex I absolutely LOVE this mod, it brings so many aspects to the vanilla bosses that makes them a genuine threat again (Hag and Necromancer for instance still give horror). Do you think it'd be possible to rework Necromancer's scroll to something that'd be less...prone to break due to it summoning a minion?

I do also notice that the Sunken Crew seems to not be healing properly which reduces the need to kill the anchorman, idk what's going on with that.

The mods are incompatible.

His reworks are much more subtle and focused mainly on keeping the fights similar to vanilla, but with adjusted difficulty (harder). While mine are more chaotic and try to revamp the fights completely in most cases, adding entire new moves, buffs and phases, also with the intention of making things more difficult.

If you want something where you'll want to come up with new strategies around fights you haven't seen before, I recommend this one and if you want something where you can still use the tried and true boss strats and test their limits, go for Welli's.

Oh and I add new trophy trinkets for app/vet boss variants, which people seem to either love or hate, so that's also something to keep in mind.

Anyone who has used this know how it compares to McSkellington's Hardcore Vanilla Bosses? I assume they are not compatible, given the description.

I managed to get the cure as loot from a regular room fight.
Also im stuck on the sunken crew, for some reason, it's their turn but they're not performing a action

Does this mod cause issues with Koala's Creature Collection? Pelagic Plague is kinda like the Crimson Curse but for the Siren, and I'm about to lose a Hero because the Apprentice Siren didn't drop the cure like she should

The Drowned Crew from this mod has got to be the most unfun thing I've experienced in this game. Had no problem with every other boss but by god, changing the apprentices health from 100 to 215 and having him regen constantly?? I fought it 8 times in a row with this mod and got nowhere. Turned it off and beat him on my first try.

"Siren will lure someone to guard her when her HP gets low" is just false, started the fight and the first 2 moves she made were song of desire and then the summon to guard her. and then every time i kill him she gets another one.

The Champion Necromancer is brutal if you're not prepared. Be ready to ignore all of his units. 10/10 dead party

in fact im really hoping you do still update this mod as a mix of this games save system, the scroll and a very lucky (or unlucky) riposte has just softlocked my 104 week save file

hey not sure if you still work on this mod but i noticed an issue with the apprentice necromancer trophy. it seemed to crash my game whenever i spawned the bone bearer but after some brief experimenting, i noticed it was whenever i killed the first out of 4 enemies as the ability does not replace the corpse. i don't mod or code myself but i assume this is due to the bone bearer overlapping with the corpse or another enemy. maybe add do that enemies killed by a hero with the scroll don't leave corpses if that's possible?

Im having issues with this mod crashing my game after completing a mission. It happens every time for me between finishing a mission and returning to the hamlet. It just crashes straight to desk top giving me no resolve xp or progressing the week forward. It could be conflicting with a mod i have downloaded but not sure which one. This is the only boss mod i have besides stuff like better boss loot base game, CoM, and CC.

Flesh's butt used Decompose after dying and just vanished. Didn't count as me killing it. Any ideas?

Hello. After loosing my third members to bosses, I gave up on this mod. It's really tough, and it's not what I'm looking for. Plus, the trophies are funny, but a little too excentric to be really usueable unless designing a whole party around them. And after a while, they take an annoying space in the inventory. And you can't just sell them.
Still, congrat to the author for the mod. It seems he/she spend lots of time into it. I'm just not the target.

Hello there, I have an issue with the first Necromancer. After using his first attack, it seems that the Apprentice Necromancer is replaced by the Master Necromancer, and even if I manage to kill him with my lvl 1/2 team, I cannot end the quest since it demands to slay the Apprentice one, not the Master! Furthermore I think it's the unmodded version that I fight. I guess the issue come from this mod since I have no other active ones that would alter bosses... I've experienced pretty much the same with the first Flesh that does not have the right name, preventing me from finishing the quest.
That being said, the other reworks are amazing!

To be more accurate, I'm not exactly sure what the effect does but it seems related to either the death or the phase changing mechanics of the necro?

EDIT #██: probably the phase changing after a further look.

The necromancer bugs might be caused by the missing dot before the name attribute

in /effects/chogex_bossreworks.effects.darkest at line 702

Not sure if that's what causes it but if you're experiencing the bug, it might be worth a try.

Haven't tested it yet because I caught it in an automated parser.

I'm starting to see a pattern with bosses: Boss fight goes on for far longer than its normal versions, then when it gets to 25% health, pulls move out of its ass that can and will royally murder 1-2 party members unless you have the appropriate counter (insane speed stat/two healers/immune or nigh immune to stun)

I just finished the fight with the sunken crew and it was completely under control, with it being a little boring, then suddenly it stuns both of my backline members while blighting and bleeding them, putting them just outside of death's door. One of them gets smacked and dies from the dots, the other hits death's door and the boss uses 'drink with the dead' which dealt a deathblow. I manage to finish the boss off next round, but good grief, it really isn't fun slogging through a boss fight that is 75% whittling its large health pool down/managing its gimmick with no real threat, then the last 25% the boss explodes a party member or two.

Uhh, holy shit the swine prince is kind of ridiculous. It got a crit on my musketeer taking off 27 health and putting them at death's door, then wilbur next turn uses 'finish them' which apparently lets the swine prince immediately act and deathblow them with no recourse possible.

It's one thing if the boss is telegraphing that they're going to 100% murder a party member, it's another when you aren't even given a chance to react to it.

I think the last necromancer does have a healing issue in his last phase between the Bone Banerer healing him and him healing himself I got looped multiple times back to second phase. Then lost to the stress build up of him constantly switching phases. I did bet him later after knowing this By bring the Upuaut Class with he "Grave Call" ability to negate healing by 100% for 3 rounds.

Regarding the first boss I just finished the boss with level 1 heroes and they were good to fight shambler after that, granted Im playing on the second, not the bloodmoon difficulty, but If I could beat it with minimal stress and hp loss on this difficulty it should be beatable with level 1 even on bloodmoon

also after I killed him, the boss died and all his skeletons with him. So there is possibility of some mod interfierence between your mods, or your game and the mod @AssaulttrainedGoat

the very first boss necromancer is bugged, you can kill it but it won't end your mission, making it impossible to finish.

warning to anyone using this mod, the very first damn fucking boss can "switch phases" but can also simply become the last tier, fighting necromancer lord with level 2s is not how to rework a boss.

It is a superb mod which makes all Boss fights not only challenging but more interesting. Even with plenty DD experience I lost badly one of them (Siren) for my first time and had some close calls with others. I still need to clear the Champion versions and I am really brainstorming what type of teams I should bring. Especially against the Swine God which is still a gamble without having an effective mark removing skill .

I think I have just missed a really punishing but rewarding Boss battle.

Ive been using this mod for as long as I can remember and just had the biggest scare of my life going for the Sunken Crew. Was not expecting the new rework and found myself freaking out as I tried to figure out how to fight it.

I still won thanks to having plenty of resources for it, but Holy Jesus did it scare me.

A few new updates to Crew and Flesh!

CREW:
Drowned Anchor no longer chains your heroes (goodbye crashes). Each round he will stun+push your front rank hero and all heroes have 4 stress horror on them while he's alive. Killing him heals 4 stress off your heroes (and debuffs crew for -25% healing rec, -5% Bleed/Blight res for the battle).

FLESH:
Removed Blight/Aegis/Stealth/Cure effects when hit.
Changed prot mechanic when hit:
Now each part loses 10% Prot and gains 5% dmg (head), 5 dodge (spine), 10% healing received (heart), 10% Blight chance (butt) for 5 rounds when hit.

All parts (except heart) have +20% Bleed/Blight Resistance.

I've had to leave behind a couple of the Boss Trinkets in the past, and despite being of the Trophy rarity, they did not reappear in my inventory after I left the mission (Trophy trinkets are supposed to reappear in your Inventory if you lose them.) Is this a problem unique to me, or have other people also had this issue? And, how might I go about restoring the trinkets to my inventory without damaging my save file?

Is there a way to get the trinkets back? I lost like a few of them on accident due to deleting a file while modding another folder, I was up for 28 hours at that point.
