Is it possible to set maximum altitude lower than 5km?

@snowy turn on the base distance and then set it to 3k, you can see MORE than enough and it hardly effects FPS, im running on a 1660 super if that gives any info, nothing hot but i can run an average 30-40 frames even in a gun fight in a city.

word of advice to anyone who uses this mod, it makes antistasi run at like 20 fps permanently because when you open up the garage it renders a bunch of the map.

Is this mod map dependent? I try this on south asia map at 10.000m and still I cant see further than 25km :/

the mod is completly clientside (clients will require a copy downloaded). however it does use the standard mod settings menu so you should be able to have the server force settings on people.

This looks great. How does this sync over in MP? For example, do all players get the same values when on the ground or in the air? Really tempted to add this to our server, but want to make sure everyone is uniform beforehand, as we're relying on a fixed 3500 view distance on our server.

Use n MP and it works fine. maybe the mission file has MP graphical limiters that are overriding the mod. would also say check server settings but as your the owner im guessing you did that already. (check the mission file in editor, Multiplayer settings i do belive has the limiters)

been using your mod for awhile and love it but got a suggestion. can you tweak the in game options menu fo rthe mod to give us more control? such as max view capping out at armas 120km cap not your 50km? max altatude alll the way down to 1km from the current 5? Read in comments some people want more max settings aswell.

bit more complicated but 2 other ideas: 'disable grass in vehicle' button (although i guess theres another mod that does that), and moreso, a tickbox for 'base view distance off radar alt or true altatude (sea level or nearest terrain).

I've done a quick multiplayer test via the editor and it seems to be working. Not sure what to suggest. Do any other view distance mods, like CHVD, work for you?

Hey Lawrence, thx for the quick response. Yea, I know that it must be something else, because I am the server owner myself and the key has been installed as well. But I also figured out that if you create an mp mission in the editor and try it in multiplayer the mod automatically stops working.

Hey Presa, it could be that the server you're connected to hasn't installed the key for Dynamic View Distance. If not, you will have to ask the server owner to install the key. Please let me know if you think it could be something else.

Hey, I really enjoy this mod but I got a question: It seems like the mod is not working in multiplayer scenarios; at least for me. Is this a known issue or did I miss some settings?

yea nvm, did some more testing and is working as epxected. turns out i just had a first tiem setup bug or soemthing (maybe some settings dint apply till game restart or soemthing) that i cant replicate so. however did notice its based off altatude to terrain not sea level. any chance of a setting for this? (i say setting as some modded maps have rediculouse terrain values and youll always be at max distance if you cant toggle it, however would be usefull most of the time)

Max altitude for the Zeus camera is 2km. Are we talking about the same thing?

ive adjusted the starting distance for DVD to kick off the lowest itle go. flying zeus yp to 6km still noticed no difference. dropped my charecter in a heli and then hopped in zeus and then DVD fucntioned exaclty as id epxect it to with zeus. will do more testign later on the matter.

SoulTechnology: DVD only uses the camera postion (positionCameraToWorld) which means it works even if you're using Zeus or a UAV. Perhaps it's not working as you expected because of the starting altitude (500m by default).

Ducky: I'll try implementing a customizable minimum framerate. So if framerate is lower than that then DVD won't expand the view distance.

odd thing. doesnt affect zeus interface by default. but i chucked myself into a heli and had it fly around and THEN the altatude wasnt based off of my charecter, but the zeus camera.

Any chance of having this affect the Zeus interface? so far it just seems to sit at minimum view distance nomater the altatude of the camera?

maybe if player is zeus (or jsut in the zeus interface if thats detectable) have the altatude based off of the camera position and not the zeus position.

have not yet tested with RC but how does that handle? same question i guess goes for controlling UAVs from the ground?

Thanks for your suggestions Turbo. I've updated the mod to include a max view distance. I'll have a go on factoring speed into the view distance conversion. This mod doesn't actually affect objects. For that I'd recommend CH View Distance.

Nice, couple of suggestions:
* Put the "Max viewrange" setting you can set how much is it show at the max altitude
* Separate view range and object range like in options
* In addition to altitude also take the speed into the account, so yo can fly fast and low while still seeing the terrain beofre you (maybe you just lower the object draw distance then)

Wow, when I downloaded and first played arma 3 i thought 50-70fps wasnt so bad, but after this mod im guessing 20-35 fps is okay as well

Seriously? He "stole" your idea? Aside fromthe fact similar mods to this have existed for years in CH View and in ACE3...you did nothing-released nothing. So unless he can read your mind, he stole nothing. Settle down sport.

For that I would recommend CH View Distance. It changes object view distance based on FOV. I might eventually put something similar in my mod but I'm happy using both mods in tandem for now.

Yes, pretty dramatically for some computers. It's up to the user to set a suitable altitude for the max view distance.
