Updated for 8193.23, 3 years and still popular it seems.

I hope you can update this to the .23 update, Symphony! I love this!

Sorry guys, I didn't notice Bott17's comment, but noticed it when .14 was released. Should be fixed as of a patch I made earlier today. Let me know if there's any more issues.

Love this work, and hope to see it return to help brighten things up. The default EE shader's still a little too grim for my taste. Still, using it with the latest update results in issues described by bott17.

With the 8193.14 version you will see all in black or green so you will need to remove this content. Also, this version include improvements to the lights so...

Okay, thank you for the quick reply. This override is about 8 months old now, and the stock contrast shader has changed 2-3 times since then, it's not crazy if at some point the original shader this was based off of back in April doesn't work anymore and needs to incorporate some of the changes the shaders have gone through in the last 8 months.

Please let me know if you find any more problems.

Strange. I tested it now and the crash didn't occur, even though back then it occured several times and wouldn't go away until I unsubscribed from this mod.
I also don't seem to have the crash report file anymore. I encountered the issue on the 21st and I only have crash reports from the 23rd in my NWN folders.

BeholderVee, can you confirm that with this item subscribed, entering the Hall of Justice with the Contrast Shader turned off in the Advanced Frame-Buffer Effects Menu in Video options, you do not crash, and as soon as you turn it on (the check box) you crash? Can you also post the crash .dmp file (not the .log file) to the Beamdog Support Forums at https://support.baldursgate.com/projects/nwn-ee-public-bugs ?

Causes crashing when I enter the Hall of Justice in the beginning of the first chapter of the original campaign. I have PRC installed.

Both shaders use a white point number and a black point number. This is somewhat similar to setting a white balance on a camera. Moving either of these values will change the resulting game color, making darks brighter, or darker, and lights brighter or darker, and the stuff in the middle darker or lighter too (unless you make your changes symmetrically)

If you wanted to make my shader do MORE of what it is already doing, then you'd have to multiply the expression with the sqrt() in front. So, if the game had a color that was 20, and my shader made it a 40, you could probably change it to make it an 80 if you put a 2 * sqrt(Symphony shader math here)

I hope that helps.

If you want to change the math, my best reccommendation is that you download the file from the vault link above, and open the .shd in a text editor, like notepad, notepad ++, or Visual Studio Code.

I'm not sure what you mean by contrast level, usually higher contrast means dark grey becomes black sooner, and light grey becomes white sooner. The highest contrast, if there was a "max level", would only be pure black and white (no grey or color).

The values included in the shader and the Beamdog contrast shader are parameters specified in the shader text. You can certainly tweak them if you'd like, but if you do it in the steam workshop download folder I published, the game will fix them after you're done.

Hello, good work, is there a way to adjust manually the contrast level?

Great job, Symphony!

Perfect! thank you Symphony :)

Hey folks.

Installation should be as easy as the green + SUBSCRIBE button above. You'll have to run the game from Steam in order for this to be included, however.

If you are playing with the Beamdog Client instead of Steam, you'll want to use the NeverwinterVault link included in the description, and place the file in the Override Folder of your Documents/Neverwinter Nights/ directory. NOT the "OVR" folder in your install directory.

I just got NWN: HE how would I install this to the game? would it be automatic or to I have to place it in a folder?

I liked how this shader works and I added vibrance to it.
