Why it isn't compatible with "Terrain and Winter affect Military and Economy" and why the ruler, with whom i was at war long ago, still has modifier "Shying away from battle"?
Dr Fraud May 30, 2023 @ 5:07pm
It might be nice to remove the malus from pregnant females, or give them a 'fanatic bodyguards' buff if they do lead.
LordMidas™  [author] May 30, 2023 @ 8:28am
Yeah if females are allowed to lead armies in your game then the malus will apply to them too.
roco's basilisk May 30, 2023 @ 4:26am
I think the reason is that HIP allows your female ruler to lead armies
roco's basilisk May 30, 2023 @ 4:10am
Works weirdly with HIP: as a female ruler (even pregnant lol), you get "shying away from battle" malus
Dr Fraud Oct 26, 2022 @ 12:44am
@LordMidas™ The cunning flaw in your plan is that if I feel my character isn't ready to lead an offensive then I can simply put him in command of a tiny army parked somewhere far from conflict.
If he wasn't being penalised then I'd likely send him along in command of a sub-unit for the RP purpose of 'learning on the job'.

An alternative when attached to a sub-unit may be to experience the effects of being away from court without the prestige of command and without being labelled a coward.
LordMidas™  [author] Oct 24, 2022 @ 3:36pm
@Dr Fraud: The mod only considers leading an actual flank to qualify as leading an army. Leading a subunit won't qualify. This is intended.
Dr Fraud Oct 24, 2022 @ 1:33pm
My character is leading a unit within my Armies rather than being at the head of the entire army due to his lesser skills.
I just noticed he's receiving an opinion mallus for apparently "Shying Away From Battle"
What?
Bio the Human Sep 6, 2022 @ 1:52pm
It doesn't seem to work for me
LordMidas™  [author] Nov 10, 2020 @ 1:47am
@D.: Good suggestion. I have updated the mod so the cowardice modifiers should no longer apply to republics, theocracies, roman imperial, chinese imperial and characters whose primary title has imperial administration.
? Mark Sep 23, 2020 @ 5:30am
@LordMidas, great mod! But I have a suggestion to make it even more realistic and immersive.

Please consider my suggestions:
- The Negative impact on Prestige of not leading an army should be reduced if:
you character is injured, very old, a member of culture/religion in which leaders did not normally lead the troops (you may also consider some other reasons)

- The positive Impact on Prestige of leading an army should be increased for these same kinds of leaders described above (injured, very old, a member of culture/religion in which leaders did not normally lead the troops (you may also consider some other reasons))
LordMidas™  [author] Apr 5, 2020 @ 3:31pm
I have pushed an update with some balance changes. Refer to the Change Notes for details.
Espritviril`` Mar 1, 2020 @ 1:09am
Awesome mod, using it for years.
UncleYar Feb 11, 2020 @ 10:06pm
I'm also thinking that leading your armies yourself could command respect from your opponent, if he values martial prowess. Especially if you're both Christians, because of the code of Chivalry. But hiding inside your castle would cause the same kind of person to classify you as cowardly scum.
UncleYar Feb 11, 2020 @ 10:00pm
Perhaps implement separately a notification that tells you when some of your commanders have been leading armies for a very long time? They can already get maluses such as "didn't get proper sleep in a long time" so it'd be useful beyond this mod - though I don't know if that's from just leading the army, or if battles, sieges or constant marching affect this.
Petko_ Nov 18, 2019 @ 8:02am
"If I implement reduced fertility for all leaders even without war then it has potential to ruin a game unintentionally. Also it will greatly mess up AI rulers because the AI is stupid."
Never saw ai leading armies when they are not at war.
LordMidas™  [author] Jul 31, 2019 @ 7:47am
@Star¤Dagger: Haha yes you can change the files as you like :D

I, however, am not convinced. The increased respect of other rulers is represented in the increased Prestige gain. And since you are busy leading troops you have little time to focus on diplomatic affairs. The Chancellor and Steward of the realm are already represented by the game in terms of State Diplomacy and Stewardship which directly influences others' opinion of you and your demesne administration respectively. So I think the maluses to stewardship and diplomacy are justified.
Star¤Dagger Jul 30, 2019 @ 10:33am
@LordMidas

All your Mod are belong to us

Diplomacy: 1) you have none of the distractions of court 2) You have the increased respect of other leaders "He is doing the Do, leading his armies from the front, I wish I could do that"
Lex Jul 30, 2019 @ 5:12am
Ya if u could do that for player character it would be nice
LordMidas™  [author] Jul 30, 2019 @ 4:14am
@Star¤Dagger: Yeah it is one of my older mods. I agree that the opinion malus is too strong. I will update it with a lower value. Regarding Stewardship, the reason it goes down "during leading an army" is becausw you are leading an army and have less time to manage your lands. The same holds true for Diplomacy, you have less time to interact with other people because you are busy leading an army. I did not understand why it should increase. Could you elaborate on that?

@Alexi: I did not put that feature because many times some players put commanders on armies and forget to take them off after a war. If I implement reduced fertility for all leaders even without war then it has potential to ruin a game unintentionally. Also it will greatly mess up AI rulers because the AI is stupid. However, I could implement it for the player character.
Lex Jul 30, 2019 @ 3:01am
Can u make it for leading an army in general? cause u see if u are leading a viking army overseas raiding then its kinda weird that this has no effects.but in wars has. raiding is war
Star¤Dagger Jul 29, 2019 @ 11:43am
-30 should only be used if someone is actively raping your wife (or lover).

Stewardship should stay the same or even go up, due to the skills gained in the administration of an Army. Those big tents are basically offices.
You could flag a regency of sorts where your Chancellor is running day to day affairs.

Diplomacy should actually go up.

Fertility -85% (and the only people who should be able to get pregnant are the hostages and whores he beds)
Mechemix Jul 14, 2019 @ 11:49am
Perfect.
Star¤Dagger Jul 14, 2019 @ 11:44am
Is there a way to turn off all of the pregnancy events for Female Ruler commanders? It was quite immersion breaking in my current run through where I was RPing a sort of Valkyrie ancestor for my Viking run through.
No matter how studly the husband is, his magic schlong should not reach across the North Sea, down into the Bay of Biscay and into my raiding Female leaders Cave of Pleasures.

There should also be a 3 year check, if the Female Ruler has not spent enough time with her husband/consort/etc "Is not ensuring the continuation of her dynasty" with maybe a -7 or -8 (I reserve -10 for the very highest passive offences), this would be only to people of her dynasty, with maybe a -2 or -3 to leaders who are a tier below her, Dukes for a Queen etc.

I haven't used this mod yet, but I'm seriously looking at it for my next play through.

And again, thanks for making our game better!

Do you think you could implement some morale boost to a ruler-led army?
To balance it the martial bonus may be decreased down to +1 (as in the preceding mod) and the prestige bonus to some extent as well.
P.S.
A ruler dying in a battle should damage army morale as well, I'm not sure how it's actually handled in the game.
LordMidas™  [author] Apr 29, 2018 @ 1:58pm
@ClayMore: sorry what do you mean by "a.i also applied"? I did not understand.
ClayMore Apr 29, 2018 @ 1:07pm
a.i also applied :(
Bluggach Mar 9, 2018 @ 11:39am
Hey Midas, read your reply, ty for that and followed your advice. Took an oddly long time but while I was randomly playing a couple of minutes ago I saw my insane uncle had a Shying Away From Battle negative effect so it seems the mod is active. Look forward to the rest of the stuff it entails!
Locating Mar 3, 2018 @ 5:44pm
This is great. Can't wait for the regency mod, I've always wanted that, you should name it something relating to the odyssey.
LordMidas™  [author] Mar 3, 2018 @ 12:48pm
@Raviolius Thank you for your appreciation. I consider the +2 monthly prestige to be balanced as the ruler is putting aside a lot of important tasks (fertility, health, diplomacy, stewardship, intrigue) for the glory of the realm.
LordMidas™  [author] Mar 3, 2018 @ 12:46pm
@Bluggach Thank you for your comment and compatibility report. This mod uses its own character modifier and event - hence it must be compatible with all other mods. The actual character modifier is applied via an event which is checked by the game engine every ~15 days or so. So try checking the mod again on max game speed during a war to see if the modifier is applied or not. What it means is that based on the in-game date, there can be a delay of a few in-game days before the modifier is applied.
Bluggach Mar 3, 2018 @ 7:06am
I loaded this into a save game as well as a fresh game and did not see the mod's effects, the mod list...

LMM (your mod)

I remember one of the mods on my list editing something about a commander having lower fertility, maybe that is why it's getting overwritten? If anyone else has similar mods and can use LMM, let me know! This mod looks like a lot of fun.
Bluggach Mar 3, 2018 @ 6:50am
wow this mod looks pretty sweet, going to give it a try with my mod list and my save game and see if there are any issues, if there are ill list my mods and maybe we can see what else it is compatible with
Raviolius Mar 2, 2018 @ 12:48pm
Very good idea, but in my opinion +2 prestige monthly is too much, if you also calculate the prestige gained from battles in.
Sam Mar 2, 2018 @ 8:28am
Interesting idea
crackdaddy69 Mar 1, 2018 @ 5:39pm
very intrigued by this

good mod

This is great. Should have been something the vanilla game took into consideration. Good job!
