ok it works on carbon fiber in general but not if it's applied to a light armor sloped corner
Sodium Chloride Oct 7, 2024 @ 10:33am
why can't this work on the carbon fiber scratches...
Whiplash141  [author] May 14, 2023 @ 1:43am
You dont. This mod auto installs dependencies.
GamerForLife May 12, 2023 @ 11:15am
Why does this mod even exists if I still need the two mods separately?

What can be wrong ?
I get a lot of mod load errors with this one.

This mod is great thank you

"I think It could just be incompatible with another mod I have running."

That is significantly more likely.
Whiplash141  [author] Jun 13, 2020 @ 10:44am
I don't think that is possible. This mod adds textures and removes edges. That's it
Whiplash141  [author] Apr 8, 2020 @ 6:29pm
I'll quote from the base mod:

NOTE: With the inclusion of the Clean Armor Skin in the base game, this may be a bit redundant, but that skin looks really plasticy to me. I'm keeping this up and functional for the foreseeable future.
Nice Bump! (chat off) Apr 8, 2020 @ 4:10pm
is this mod still needed with the next patch that has clean armor?
iGoinsane1124 Apr 3, 2020 @ 10:26am
You are a SAINT! Thank you sir!
Whiplash141  [author] Apr 3, 2020 @ 9:33am
That is NOT an error with any particular mods. This is an error with mod loading, probably due to a corrupted download.

The fix is to manually unsubscribe from each mod in your world, wait for them to be removed, then resubscribe. You should see Steam begin to re-download your mods. Hopefully, if all goes well, everything downloads smoothly and you can get back to your game. :)
iGoinsane1124 Apr 3, 2020 @ 8:01am
Hey whiplash! love the mod, but its throwing a critical error.

MOD_CRITICAL_ERROR: Scratch and Edge Be Gone! (Cleaner armor, No edges), in file:

Think this is due to the update. tons of mods are throwing this error right now. If you figure it out, can you tell me how to fix this issue, so i can fix the other mods throwing this code, till the authors fix them?
Whiplash141  [author] Mar 31, 2020 @ 2:03pm
Alright, both issues should be fixed now, give it a try :)
Whiplash141  [author] Mar 31, 2020 @ 12:42pm
Fixed the base mod, also fixed armor edges, will push a fix to this one in a little bit.
Netherspark Mar 31, 2020 @ 8:39am
I forgot to add the 2x1x1 Slope Tip needs changing too. Again, just once instance of each :)

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Large\Armor\SquarePlateSlope2TipBack.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Large\Armor\HeavySquarePlateSlope2TipBack.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Small\Armor\SquarePlateSlope2TipBack.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Small\Armor\HeavySquarePlateSlope2TipBack.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />
Whiplash141  [author] Mar 31, 2020 @ 8:26am
The default pattern height simply changed lol, the SBC used in this is a 1:1 copy with the textures merely modified. I need to do another cleanup pass to fix some other things as well.
Netherspark Mar 31, 2020 @ 7:12am
And again with these below, set values to 1. There should be only one instance each of these:

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Large\Armor\SlopePlateSlab.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Large\Armor\HeavySlopePlateSlab.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Small\Armor\SlopePlateSlab.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Small\Armor\HeavySlopePlateSlab.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />
Netherspark Mar 31, 2020 @ 7:11am
Hey Whip, I've finally figured out how to fix the still-misaligned sides of the half blocks. Turns out you've set the wrong pattern size in the data file. At the moment the Half Armor Blocks, Half Slopes and Slope Base 2x1x1 all have messed up textures on their sides, but this can be fixed by just changing a number.

Just find every instance of each of the four lines below and change the 'PatternWidth' and 'PatternHeight' both to 1. There should be five instances of each line, so twenty in total.

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Large\Armor\SquarePlateSlope2BaseFront.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Large\Armor\HeavySquarePlateSlope2BaseFront.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Small\Armor\SquarePlateSlope2BaseFront.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

<Side Model="Models\Cubes\Small\Armor\HeavySquarePlateSlope2BaseFront.mwm" PatternWidth="4" PatternHeight="2" />

Quick question, why do the round slopes and corners show the edges?
Whiplash141  [author] Feb 10, 2020 @ 7:54pm
Reason is mentioned at the top of the authors notes. Blame keen not me lol

Not sure if you have an official bug report section, but the inverted round corners are invisible on the inverted face.
Whiplash141  [author] Nov 23, 2019 @ 1:24pm
There are other mods that do that CowChunks :)

the armor textures get simpler too
Blue Oct 17, 2019 @ 10:32am
it just removes the edges so I have no idea why it should reduce performance
it would rather increase it as the edges no longer need to load
ghofmann2 Oct 17, 2019 @ 8:54am
Also, does this mod increase/decrease server performance at all?
ghofmann2 Oct 17, 2019 @ 8:14am
Is this mod working ok on dedicated servers still?
Titan Nya Sep 27, 2019 @ 2:21am
Love this mod so much!

Just a quick bug report (tested in my vanilla test who only have visual/gameplay type mods) The round Junction type (3 rounds) just seems to have 1 side dissapear with this mod... Not the block used much so probably no one even saw it... Just need to make a projection for making a visual laser to appear inside a contraption :p

Well if it can't be fixed, i won't really mind :p
Whiplash141  [author] Aug 23, 2019 @ 9:45am
Sure, but I think there is a proliferation of "no edge" mods :)
Netherspark Aug 23, 2019 @ 9:27am
Sweeet, thank you.

I have one other request. I'd really like the option of using edges from time to time, without having to swap mods or commit to being fully edged or fully edgeless.

So I've created a version of "Scratch Be Gone" that doesn't replace the original armor, and instead exists alongside it. When combined with your 'Edge Be Gone', it allows people to use both edged and edgeless armor whenever they want. Can I have your permission to publish it?
Whiplash141  [author] Aug 22, 2019 @ 6:40pm
Well I'll be damned... Updated :)
Netherspark Aug 22, 2019 @ 5:19pm
@Whip I've figured out how to fix the texture alignment errors. All that's needed is to replace the model files in the mod with the updated ones from the game files. I've tested it and it works.

So since it's just a quick copy & paste job, can we convince you to update the mods?

Alternatively I could republish it myself (with your permission), but I think everyone would prefer the original mod.
Rysten Aug 5, 2019 @ 7:56pm
Anyone know of a texture mod that removes all those damned armor panel lines completely? Or at least gives them a per block pattern?
Krougal Jun 7, 2019 @ 8:54am
I noticed the misalignment too, only just read through the change log today (fuck I didn't even realize there was a patch until after the game loaded), they made some fixes to those blocks is why.

I agree the texture from this mod (or rather Scratch Be Gone!)still has a place. The initial glee at having all new shiny blocks wore off quickly when I realized it is pretty bland if your ship doesn't have anything else going for it.
Molten Carnage Jun 7, 2019 @ 8:08am
I don't know what Keen has done but it appears that Keen has implemented the ability for a texture library with 1.191 If this is the case, then maybe this mod doesn't have to be so big anymore. Still I have to agree with the others, I like the slight wear and no edges. Perhaps a mod that only removes the edges and, if my guess is right, a separate texture mod would work.
Netherspark Jun 6, 2019 @ 5:35pm
Also, please don't discontinue this mod. It gets rid of the heavy chips and scrapes but leaves a little wear. It's very different to the new clean armor.
Netherspark Jun 6, 2019 @ 5:33pm
There's a texture bug when using this with the new Clean Armor setting enabled - the skin is misaligned on all the long ramp blocks, both Light and Heavy versions:

Armor Slope 2x1x1 Base
Armor Slope 2x1x1 Tip
Armor Corner 2x1x1 Base
Armor Corner 2x1x1 Tip
Armor inv. Corner 2x1x1 Base
Armor inv. Corer 2x1x1 Tip

Whiplash141  [author] Jun 6, 2019 @ 5:27pm
Haha I'll mark it as deprecated maybe? Or maybe I'll just make it disable edges, not sure yet
Krougal Jun 6, 2019 @ 5:14pm
So the new clean texture is pretty sweet (better actually than what the mod does) but it doesn't get rid of the edges so don't abandon this Whip!
Rekalty May 4, 2019 @ 5:31am
I dunno, I tried making a game with just that mod, and got that broken deformation all the time. Removed it from said game, and it was all back to looking all right. Granted it was a pretty short test, and you may be right, but in my case it at the very least made it happen a lot more often, have yet to see it happen again in my current playthrough, after I removed the mod.
Lord_Greyscale May 3, 2019 @ 6:01pm
@Rekalty

I get that sort of flagrantly broken armor deformation all the time, *without* mods being involved.
Yes, most of the armor blocks got treated to try and fix that, but they missed several, mostly the sloped pieces that aren't in the standard cube's group.
