@mikeyyaylan - You will need to subscribe to WotC Katana Pack Reloaded, WotC Ballistic Shields and Dual Wield Melee. However, you should subscribe to True Primary Secondaries instead. Don't subscribe to New Promotion Screen by Default.

is it recommended to get the requirements of the required class mod?
Takita Dec 7, 2024 @ 3:30am
is there a way to remove the progressive upgrades? there are sometimes perks id like to skip over for reasons like technical issues. EG: Templars channel perk causes a crash for me if im using any ammo types, vanilla ammo types included.
Drath Mar 24, 2024 @ 3:28pm
true though ill admit its been about a year sense i played i didnt see blade master as that is a squadie ability and you dont have those
BoxingBud Mar 24, 2024 @ 9:22am
(excluding some that require prereqs like blade storm needing sword mastery)
BoxingBud Mar 24, 2024 @ 9:21am
A good example is the screen shot, that Cybernetic Soldier there happened to pic all of the samurai skills, but he could have easily chosen any other on that list when he reached that level. Past that you can buy skills with xcom points ect if you want to top them up a bit.
BoxingBud Mar 24, 2024 @ 9:19am
Musashi rpg overhaul means that there are no classes, everyone starts the same and has every single skill at it's required level, available. So if you're a level 3 soldier you can pick Vigilance and enter overwatch at the end of your movement only turn, pick "aid protocol" and said character can also use that skill when equipped with a gremlin. This mod will take the "class" of samurai and make it skills anyone can chose. You won't get a "samurai" class.

How can i be sure this is working? Ive promoted maye 10 rookies and no samurais yet
Drath Mar 30, 2023 @ 9:52pm
i cant seem to take bladestorm as i dont see blade master anywhere please advice
Mustang0524 Mar 8, 2023 @ 6:06am
Would love to see the other Samurai skill trees added to RPGO as well as Shinigami fixed!
lemenade Jun 13, 2022 @ 10:17am
Be advised to all who play LWOTC and RPGO, the samurai class seems to be broken. Shingami skill isn't visible so it can't be activated, and only the samurai perk tree is available. I can't figure out how to fix. So just something to keep an eye on.
Triel Feb 26, 2022 @ 12:26pm
Also for some reason it crashes with https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2079693637 using a samurai with empty secondary. They do not get a headshot action with rend the lost either but no crash
Julio Jan 30, 2022 @ 2:19am
for some reason the shinigami doesn't work with LWOTC
Vital Aug 22, 2021 @ 7:49pm
For some reason this class doesn't show up as a choice when I promote someone to soldier.
Atta Mar 6, 2021 @ 2:57pm
Sorry, not the samurai skills but the katana weapons. They don't seem to count as a "melee weapon" for a few of the ranger skills.
Atta Mar 6, 2021 @ 2:55pm
Nevermind, i fixed it by starting a new game with the mods correctly loaded. However i do notice (unless intentional) that the Ranger skills in RPGO don't work with the Samurai skills (namely things like blademaster and bladestorm).
Atta Mar 6, 2021 @ 10:42am
I keep getting an issue where when you have the samurai class mod active with this, rookies can still show up as the default samurai as if RPGO didn't exist, causing it to not give any prompts for selecting specialisations.
Gwazi Magnum Feb 8, 2021 @ 12:54pm
Does this mod have the same pre-reqs that the Samurai Class mod itself has (Like Dual-Wield Melee, or the Katana pack) or are those only needed if using the Samurai without RPGO?
Sinapus Dec 6, 2020 @ 12:10pm
Setup some characters as melee builds. They are devastating, though of course limited to melee range so that sort of balances things.
Kyosuke Dei Knives 봄 눈 Sep 13, 2020 @ 12:44pm
Also is there a way to remove the energy cost for these skills? Config file doesn't have a CD
Kyosuke Dei Knives 봄 눈 Sep 12, 2020 @ 5:26pm
is there a way to when you install these class mods, your current soldiers can use them right away? Or they have to be new recruit?
Musashi  [author] Apr 30, 2020 @ 12:36pm
If you use plugin mod those classes won’t show up as separate classes. There skill trees are added to the soldier class. That’s the way plugin work. If you want the classes as a separate class beside the rpgo soldier class don’t use the plugins.
Paint Friend Apr 30, 2020 @ 10:38am
I'm having an issue with this and many other RPGO class mods, but the game doesn't seem to recognize that they're loaded in or something. I've installed the original class mods, but the only things my rookies can upgrade to are the Soldier, Jedi, and Stormwalker classes. I downloaded "remove any class" and those three are the only ones that show up as well. Any idea what the issue is?
endersblade Apr 18, 2020 @ 6:30pm
I see this was updated today, but there are no update notes. What changed?
NightWolf2021 Mar 17, 2020 @ 6:06pm
@musashi great mod I love it . Im just having issues with bladestorm. Its greyed out and I cant select it. I tried using with and with and without RPGO. Is it fixable or should I chalk it up?
Dr. Quackers M.D. Mar 12, 2020 @ 9:02pm
Cool thx
Musashi  [author] Mar 12, 2020 @ 8:31pm
Musashi [Autor] Gerade eben
Disable npsbd if you play with rpgo. Rpgo has its own version of it that is used
Dr. Quackers M.D. Mar 12, 2020 @ 6:57pm
How are you suppose to use these when RPGO conflicts with new promotion screen which is needed for the original class mod. Should I ignore the New promotion conflict warning?
tommyc434 Nov 25, 2019 @ 6:32pm
@Musashi - not sure if anyone else has reported this, but for me, it seems like Whirlwind Strike always defaults to the primary weapon, even if it's not a melee weapon. So what happens is if my Samurai is carrying a gun, the ability moves him adjacent to the target, but instead of slicing with the secondary sword, he takes 2 point blank shots. I'm sure this wasn't an issue in the original class since you wouldn't mix and match like in RPGO. Is this fixable?

Thank you for both these great mods by the way.
Scroller Nov 13, 2019 @ 11:55am
@Musashi - As far as I can tell, Way of the Samurai is now working. I have seen the extra damage list several times and it does seem to be applied.
Scroller Oct 27, 2019 @ 5:38am
@Musashi - Much appreciated.
Musashi  [author] Oct 26, 2019 @ 2:55am
Will have a look at the issue, after next week I have time again.
El Psy Congroo Oct 25, 2019 @ 7:13pm
Yup WotS would be HUGE if the +3 worked, even a tiered or less potent version would be sweet as long as it works. There's already a trait for +10 to melee. Making it redundant.
Scroller Oct 23, 2019 @ 6:09am
Do we know if the damage bonus from Way of the Samurai is fixable or not? If not, does it really serve a purpose as there are other traits that add AIM bonuses?
NergalsTurban Oct 22, 2019 @ 10:00pm
I am unable to access any of the specialization pack perks, only the base perks. In addition when playing without RPGO, all of your regular class mods don't show up either by randomized class assignment or through the GTS.
Gahnfaust Oct 5, 2019 @ 5:04am
Yeah i have the same question as Jide Aurelius
Jide Aurelius Aug 8, 2019 @ 11:38am
Is it possible to run a viable samurai right now or is it too broken? It seems like an amazing class though!
JugiBugi Jul 20, 2019 @ 7:29am
Ok thx for telling us. So it is okay to pick the perk for the future fix i suppose?
Musashi  [author] Jul 20, 2019 @ 5:51am
Thats broken atm
JugiBugi Jul 20, 2019 @ 5:05am
Thx for a great mod! But i can also confirm way of the samurai damage bonus not working(aim does work) I tried to change mod load order in the alternate launcher so that rpgo overhauls loads always first, not sure though if it changes anything.
Zaeryn Carine Jul 12, 2019 @ 8:17pm
Way of the Samurai is providing the increased Aim but not the bonus Melee damage. When using the class on its own WotS provides both bonuses.
Burty1974 Mar 29, 2019 @ 5:29pm
Yes I am.
Holokom Jan 16, 2019 @ 2:23pm
i somehow cant find the samurai anymore after adding a couple of your rpg mods..i only get shinobis.
Musashi  [author] Dec 29, 2018 @ 5:12am
Are you sure you are playing with rpgo?
Burty1974 Dec 28, 2018 @ 8:17pm
I also can't find Kenjutsu
Burty1974 Dec 28, 2018 @ 8:08pm
So I want bladestorm but it says I need blademaster, but I'm not finding blademaster anywhere.
Musashi  [author] Dec 16, 2018 @ 9:38pm
You need to rebuild you soldiers when you add specs mod campaign. Refer to the rpgo full feature list page for a more infos.
Aaewen Dec 16, 2018 @ 9:22pm
Is this safe to add mid game? Because I just added a few Specialization (this one, Valkyrie, Spec Ops, etc...) and Samurai shows up only to replace Advent officer line (but still with all Advent skills). No other specilization shows up.

d_valroth Oct 12, 2018 @ 5:52pm
I feel like Yamabushi Heritage should really require Shinigami. It stands out as kinda the best possible lieutenant pick for anyone who is going to be anywhere near combat. Who doesn't want 15 def, +1 armor, and auto healing? Alternatively, perhaps it needs to be matched up with better perks to make it a harder choice. Lieutenant just seems like a very lackluster rank for most specializations, which is what makes YH so darn appealing.
B0atsMcG0ats Sep 4, 2018 @ 9:43pm
@twinsenvr4
There's a mod out that adds new soldier commands (might even be called that, iirc) including RebuildSelectedSoldierClass, that should sort this out without forcing a soldier into any specific class.
