That's okay. It was a project done in my spare time to play around with the editor, which resulted in this. It's not supposed to be anything particular, but takes the shape closest to a heritage railway given they are usually quite simple in architecture.

There are other routes I have made which include semaphores. Just that this particular route doesn't use them. Thanks anyway

I won't lie, I am upset there are no semaphores. But despite my hurtful honesty, which I do apologize for, I do see your point: all those requirements would indeed be a pain
AirbourneAlex  [author] Dec 2, 2024 @ 3:04am
I didn't want to add any additional requirements just for signal assets, so made do with the colour light signals instead.
John Marston the Rancher Nov 30, 2024 @ 4:48pm
Also, I’d this is meant to be a heritage railway, why aren’t there any semaphore signals?
John Marston the Rancher Nov 29, 2024 @ 9:14pm
Admittedly, there is something I’d like to ask: is this route located in a specific region of the UK?

Thank you.

This is a nice relaxing route and is really pretty, and it is easy to make scenarios.

Thanks for the exellent route! This route has the same quality as the original DTG TS routes. Can I make some scenarios on this route for steam workshop?:steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:
Highball Simulation Jun 10, 2019 @ 12:03am
I agree, Purno. Still a favourite of mine to this day.
AirbourneAlex  [author] Jun 9, 2019 @ 6:27am
Thanks Purno. Just proves you can still make a decent route with so few requirements...
Purno Jun 9, 2019 @ 6:18am
Thanks for sharing this route. It's a nice route. Really cool you kept the DLC requirements as low as 1 route.
AirbourneAlex  [author] Mar 6, 2019 @ 3:17am
Best watching some YouTube tutorials on route building. Once you know what all the buttons do and have some practice, doubling this route would be quite straightforward.
Highball Simulation Mar 5, 2019 @ 1:47pm
Thanks for the advice. You wouldn't mind giving some support as to how to modify the route (i.e. lay double track the whole way)? I'm a little rusty when it comes to using the route editor.
AirbourneAlex  [author] Mar 5, 2019 @ 1:05pm
If you delete the signal the AI train would continue uninterrupted. Only problem is if another train was ahead of it in the platform, they would collide, or the service would wait at another signal back up the line. Depends on how many AI services you are running.

And at this time I have no intentions to further modify this route as I'm satisfied with how it is now. But I have no problem with others modifying the route if they like.
Highball Simulation Mar 5, 2019 @ 12:28pm
Hello. The issue I mentioned occurred at signal SL12 on the diagram. Theoretically speaking, what would happen if I deleted the signal?

Also, you mentioned coming back to the route. I was wanting to request a double-tracked version of the line, if that would be possible.
Highball Simulation Mar 5, 2019 @ 10:01am
I built a test scenario this morning and the issue didn't occur, so it must have been a routing issue.

Passenger trains always use the line to the left relative to the direction of travel, if I remember correctly.
AirbourneAlex  [author] Mar 5, 2019 @ 7:37am
Usually a train will obey the signal aspect, did you make sure the train was routed via the correct platform? as by default sometimes the AI will take the shortest route from A to B and not via the correct directional running lines like it should.

Also if the train itself is longer than the passing loop (I.e. a shorter length train intending to give way to it on the other platform). I've found this often doesn't work with AI in scenarios.
Highball Simulation Mar 4, 2019 @ 1:43pm
Thanks. On the topic of signalling, I recently encountered a strange problem. I had created a two-train scenario, and the two were crossing at Southford. However, as I was waiting for the train coming from Merrywell, it inexplicably came to a complete stop at the signal block just outside the station. I flew over there with the free camera, and the signal was green. Any suggestions as to what was causing the issue?
AirbourneAlex  [author] Mar 4, 2019 @ 11:12am
Main depot at Kealing and a smaller depot at Merrywell. Mainline depot is at Shepperton.

Wellbridge to Southford has AWS because its the faster 45mph section of the route. I believe some heritage railways make use of AWS magnets as an extra element of safety.
Highball Simulation Mar 4, 2019 @ 8:51am
Remind me where the two depots are? I know one is at Keating, but where is the other?

And one more question; if this is a heritage line, why does it have AWS at Wellbridge-which isn't near the mainline link?
AirbourneAlex  [author] Mar 4, 2019 @ 6:58am
Well exactly that. There's enough sidings and passing loops to store about 8 coach rakes, you'd probably fit in 5 services or at most 7 services if you switch locomotives at the termini stations.

The 2 depots can accommodate plenty of locomotives, but in practical terms you'd won't use that many trains unless your computer is quite powerful to handle the drop in performance if you decide to fill the depots out to full capacity. Even then the depot on the mainline portion is quite sizeable and is more than capable of storing extra rolling stock.

In an operational sense, 3 to 4 services would run on a regular day, maxed out at 5-7 on a gala.
Highball Simulation Mar 4, 2019 @ 5:58am
What sort of route capacity does it have? I noticed that the large numbers of passing loops and the double track stretch around Wellbridge could allow for up to 3 trains in conventional service, or up to 5 on a gala timetable.
AirbourneAlex  [author] Mar 3, 2019 @ 9:53am
Cheers Railfan. Been a while since I last used this route myself. I should really have another play around with it, after all it took me over 3 years to finish it... :P
Highball Simulation Mar 3, 2019 @ 1:58am
This route runs like a dream-better than some of the official DLC, I'd wager. Great work.
Highball Simulation Mar 2, 2019 @ 8:53am
I've given this a run in Quick Drive, and I like what I see.
[SR] 73096 Nov 16, 2018 @ 2:42pm
thats what i do as well alex in my spare time sometimes
AirbourneAlex  [author] Nov 16, 2018 @ 12:54pm
Thanks albino7621, it took me enough time to develop it! Personally I enjoy making free roams and creating my own selection of preserved rolling stock for the route to play around with.
albino7621 Nov 16, 2018 @ 12:46pm
Hi, Very nice route with plenty of sidings to play with. Only done QD around whole route at the moment you have done some nice work. Thanks for sharing.
notorne Nov 11, 2018 @ 2:19am
Thank you very much.
AirbourneAlex  [author] Nov 10, 2018 @ 7:30am
Hi RHDR Railfan, a have a few routes on the workshop as well as one under development. Click on my profile then go to workshop items and you'll find them there. Here's my latest route -

If you are thinking about getting a new route, purchase the Riviera Line - I'd strongly recommend it as a personal favourite in TS. Anyway, thanks for the kind words :)
notorne Nov 10, 2018 @ 1:37am
This looks like a great route, but I do not currently own the modern version of the Riviera Line so I sadly can't play it. Also, do you have any other routes available on the Steam Workshop?
AirbourneAlex  [author] Oct 25, 2018 @ 2:40am
Good to hear! Thanks Adam :)
Adam Driff Driffill Oct 24, 2018 @ 3:39pm
Worked spot on.... Thank You! Great line btw! Love it!
AirbourneAlex  [author] Oct 19, 2018 @ 10:47am
@Adam Driff Driffill, If you unsubscribe, open TS and delete the route in the route edit menu, close TS and re-subscribe, that will do a fresh download of the route. Otherwise it might be worth re-downloading the Riviera Line DLC to fix any issues with the assets. Hope that helps :)
Adam Driff Driffill Oct 15, 2018 @ 10:19am
My game crashed while I was driving on this route, now my track has completely dissappeared. any offers on why? And how to get it back?
AirbourneAlex  [author] Apr 28, 2018 @ 1:49pm
Thanks very much Scouser. Way too much time and fustration went into building this route, so its great being able to share it for others to enjoy also :) And yes, a GWR loco would be the best way to enjoy it :P
Scouser888 Apr 28, 2018 @ 11:48am
Very impressive and enjoyable. Alex, I sincerely thank and commend you for this route, it must have taken a tremendous amount of effort. I tried a QD from Kealing to Westley Bridge, using the Class 159. (I know, I know, I should have used a GWR loco, I'll do so later). Very, very good.
AirbourneAlex  [author] Mar 23, 2018 @ 9:50am
Thanks Chris. This route's certainly my proudest achievement on TS. Its always nice to hear people enjoying it at the end of the day :)
chrisandian123 Mar 17, 2018 @ 9:07am
Great little fun packed railway. Lots of scope to drive anything on it. Steam,Diesels you name it.
Well done AirbourneAlex.
BASH769 Jan 29, 2018 @ 8:31am
Have not download as dont have the DLC for it but looks really great!
harryharry32 Jan 28, 2018 @ 1:56pm
had it already,sorry.
AirbourneAlex  [author] Jan 26, 2018 @ 2:47pm
Thanks Nano :)
Nano Jan 26, 2018 @ 1:06pm
Superb route with beautiful scenery! Great for all kind of steam and diesel train, it's pure fun to drive on this route! Thank you! :steamhappy::)
Johnno124 Jan 15, 2018 @ 1:25am
@AirbourneAlex, I am working on a electrified version of this awesome route, Would it be ok to upload to the workshop when finished??
AirbourneAlex  [author] Jan 5, 2018 @ 7:35am
That would be cool but personally I don't really use destination blinds in TS (I always forget to set them up when changing cabs :P ) But if others would like to see some for this route then I have no problem.
AlexCee Jan 5, 2018 @ 1:56am
If you want I'll make some destinations for the AP150/1 and 150/2.
[SR] 73096 Jan 4, 2018 @ 7:34am
i can verify it overwrites the old version
AirbourneAlex  [author] Jan 4, 2018 @ 7:16am
Yes it should overwrite the old version. The route file is the same, so in theory it should overwrite. It'll be nice if someone could verify this though?
