Oh! That's very helpful! Thank you so much I will look into fixing that
arl85 Aug 20 @ 11:55am
interesting enough, orders affected seems to be almost all area-related. Plan, build/remove roof, extend area, growing zone, stockpiles, etc.. but... flooring seems not affected.
arl85 Aug 20 @ 11:37am
Since I see you're very active on this mod (and because I really love it) I investigated the "flood bug" some people reported and found how to reproduce it

https://imgur.com/a/lS2fhNp

basically fill will overflow if there's an order on one of the walls of a room, in this case I tried with a raw stone wall and several orders (smooth but also mine - not shown in screenshots)

Thank you very much! <3

It adds a new shape palette with the following:
- Line (including diagonal and freeform (not in vanilla))
- Rectangle
- Grids and inverted grids (for strip mining or dorms, etc.) (not in vanilla)
- Ellipse
- Circle (not in vanilla)
- Pentagon (not in vanilla)
- Hexagon (not in vanilla)
Also includes these pre-defined object shapes (both filled and outline):
- Sun lamp (not in vanilla)
- Orbital trade beacon (not in vanilla)

There's also a flood-fill tool, as well as undo/redo functionality when the game is paused.

Adds the following shapes to the default shapes menu:
- Freeform line
- Midpoint circle
- Sun lamp outline and fill
- Orbital trade beacon outline and fill

Hi, I am returning back to RimWorld again. Could I ask what this mod adds on top of new functionality added by the Odyssey DLC? Thank you! :)
Merthykins  [author] Aug 20 @ 10:34am
(THough I am able to get the shape back to its orignal with resetting the thickness.)
Merthykins  [author] Aug 20 @ 10:34am
Hm, yeah, thickness for the special shapes isn't working the way it's supposed to right now. It should function just like squares, where the lines themsleves get thicker. I'll look into this.
arl85 Aug 20 @ 10:28am
just another couple of suggestions:
1) do not allow to increase thickness for special shapes (sun lamp etc) because after messing with them seems to be no way to reset to original size. If someone want to play with thickness may use a normal circle
2) do not allow a negative thickness: that messes things up a lot and that not allows people to bring back thickness to 1 keeping "-" pressed
SaintBerlín Aug 20 @ 8:36am
Flood fill somehow doesn't work, it fills insde and outside an empty room
VitaKaninen Aug 19 @ 5:26pm
Working now, thanks!
Merthykins  [author] Aug 19 @ 5:04pm
Ok, I pushed an update that should fix the options menu. Note that the alt-toggle and hide completely options need both allow toggling and enable keyboard.
Merthykins  [author] Aug 19 @ 4:45pm
Oh oops! Let me fix that!
VitaKaninen Aug 19 @ 3:22pm
Well, I checked that box, and it made all the other options disappear, and I can't get them back.

Nothing I click on will take me back to the other window, or undo the setting.
VitaKaninen Aug 19 @ 3:06pm
I see, thanks.
Merthykins  [author] Aug 19 @ 2:56pm
@VitaKaninen: The hide and alt-collapse options are only enabled when "Allow collapsing" is set to true:

VitaKaninen Aug 19 @ 2:08pm
@Merthykins, I don't have either of those options. https://imgur.com/a/DvqMS5N
Merthykins  [author] Aug 19 @ 1:31pm
Sounds like you have the "Hide completly" option on in the settings. Make sure this setting is off and it should just be collapsed but you'll still see the bar:

Raith Aug 19 @ 1:06pm
Hey I accidentally closed the designator shapes menu when I was going through them and it no longer comes up, how do I get it back?
arl85 Aug 18 @ 1:28pm
thanks, that was really fast!
Merthykins  [author] Aug 18 @ 1:23pm
Update pushed to address those issues.
Merthykins  [author] Aug 18 @ 1:06pm
Ah yeah, should have a scroll bar. I'll get that fixed.

Also good idea to set thickness to 1 when using vanilla mode! Will address that as well.
arl85 Aug 18 @ 1:03pm
Just a quick issue I found: it seems that the settings page misses some keys at the end (I expect a decrese thickness button, too, for example). Also would be nice to have a scroll bar on the right, to clearly express that page can be scrolled.

Also, if setting thickness and then switching to vanilla mode the shapes added by the mod keep the thickness (but there's no way to decrease it without going back to mod mode). Not all shapes, just the added one: for example rectangle uses standard 1 tile thickness while midpoint circles uses the mod thickness.
I suggest to revert to standard 1 tile thickness when ALT-disabling mod, if possible.
Merthykins  [author] Aug 18 @ 9:04am
Lol, glad you like it!

*installs Odyssey*
*uninstalls Designator Shapes*

GG, thanks for service, o7 and all that.

*actually uses the in-game circle tool*
*whole body shudder*
*reinstalls Designator Shapes*

I was weak. And I apologise.
Merthykins  [author] Aug 17 @ 10:49am
Oh, whoops! At one point in testing it I did have a tooltip but then I dropped it along the way somehow. I've added the tooltip back.

I've also added a setting in the mod settings to determine whether it uses vanilla behavior, shape-based behavior, or adds the setting in the play settings. By default it will use the vanilla bounding box behavior.

However, as a middle ground, because certain shapes don't allow for dragging anyway and have always blocked the vanilla bounding box behavior (flood fill, sunlamp/trade beacon, custom-size stamp shapes), these will always use the shape-based bounding box when using the designator shapes palette.

Additionally, conduits now default to rectangle instead of line. If that's contentious, I can add a setting.
VitaKaninen Aug 17 @ 9:03am
About the new button, I think this is something that people will either want to have active all the time, or never at all. I don't think they will be toggling it on a regular basis. Can you give us a way to remove the button from the bottom right of the screen, or just move the setting to the options menu?

Also, there is no mouseover text for the new button to describe what it does or which mod it comes from. It took me forever to find the new button icon in my mods folder so I could identify which mod it came from and what it did.

Also, I think the toggle effect is backward. When the option is activated, there is no drag box, but when the button is deactivated, the box shows up. Maybe that is intended, but it seems backward to me.
Petre27 Aug 17 @ 12:40am
Thank you!
onemorecup Aug 16 @ 4:08pm
Thank you!
Merthykins  [author] Aug 16 @ 2:41pm
Sure, I can look into that.

I can also carve grids out into a separate mod.
onemorecup Aug 16 @ 1:56pm
default for cabling is now "line" instead of square (as it was previously). can this be a setting or reverted to previous default, please?
thanks
Petre27 Aug 15 @ 11:05pm
Would it be possible to get the Grids shape for the vanilla designator as a stand-alone mod?
Crimson Aug 15 @ 11:46am
Thanks
Merthykins  [author] Aug 15 @ 9:12am
Yes, I would like to make it follow the vanilla memory settings and if you have it set to remember the tool based on designator, have it switch shapes. I don't know when I'll get to that but it's planned :)
Crimson Aug 15 @ 1:20am
Would it be possible to have a shape memory my tool? Not a big deal but it would be a nice qol. I use alot of shapes for building but mining i only use the filled in rectangle but it always goes to the last shape used
Merthykins  [author] Aug 14 @ 3:39pm
Added the inverse grid shape as well
Merthykins  [author] Aug 13 @ 4:12pm
Grid shapes have been added under the rectangle menu
DeathKnight. Aug 13 @ 3:27pm
Yes exactly.
Merthykins  [author] Aug 13 @ 3:20pm
Alright, liek this?

Grid Shapes. Parallel lines can be done via rectange shape but i guess option of doing only parallel lines would be ok if someone wanted to use it like that?
Merthykins  [author] Aug 12 @ 4:37pm
@DeathKnight Should it be a grid shape or parallel lines?
DeathKnight. Aug 12 @ 2:24pm
2x2 / 3x3 / 4x4 and maybe 5x5. 2x2 and 3x3 are the most used strip shapes looking for valuables but if someone is on steel asteroid 4x4 or 5x5 would make more sense as their veins are bigger
Merthykins  [author] Aug 12 @ 2:04pm
Those shapes are added via the individual shape mods. If there's a shape you want in the vanilla menu let me know and I'll carve it out as a separate mod. This is just the easiest way to give users a choice of what goes in (with the most popular defaulted).

This does not add the strip mining shape, but I can! Is 3x3 the only one or are there uses for like 5x5 or 8x8
DeathKnight. Aug 12 @ 1:40pm
Do you plan on adding the shapes to the Q E hotkeys window when building instead of its own window? Like the other single shape mods?

Also this did not have the strip mine shape right (3x3 efficient mining thing) I have been looking for the mod that added it and i thought this was it but i think its not?

Hooray! I hope to have stemmed the flow of unsubscribers.

You have saved my day. thx. 🌞

Happy to help :)
Never LaVey Aug 8 @ 3:44pm
Thank you for your hard work, Merthykins.
Merthykins  [author] Aug 8 @ 2:04pm
I have pushed an update that restored the vanilla bounding box behavior. If you want to use the shape-based bounding box, you can toggle it on in the play settings: https://i.imgur.com/yVhXtCJ.png

This is instead of the mod settings, because I believe both use cases are useful, and being able to switch in-game with little friction seemed nice.
Never LaVey Aug 8 @ 1:57pm
If you want to keep using the mod but dislike the feature, grab the version on github.
