April Patch

Hello! We're back to a regular schedule now, with updates on the 7th of each month. April is about continuing bug fixes and dealing with 1.6.1 + 1.6.2. Most of the compatibility fixes are not listed below, but hopefully you will feel their presence as you click seductively through those production queues.

The team is fairly burned out from the patch orgy of last month, but look toward May to bring back the full potency that you've come to rely on for your enjoyment and satisfaction. We always aim to please.

Please find us on Reddit or Discord[discord.gg]. Additionally, did you know that you can help us send our pet ferrets to university via Patreon[www.patreon.com]?* It's a terrible lie, but at least it's a cute one.

Best wishes,

-Gxp

Man the Guns

Patch #1

Greetings and happy DLC day! The fine folks at the Road to 56 bar and grill have been working tirelessly to make the mod work with Man the Guns and the 1.6 update. Of course, by 'work' we mean, "Not explode at launch." Mission accomplished!

That being said, this is just an initial patch. We cleared a couple thousand (!!!) bugs and there are, quite unfortunately, around a thousand or so left. That includes logged errors, content conflicts, and seizure-inducing moments of historical inaccuracy. If the numbers involved seem ridiculous, well, they absolutely are. SpicyAlfredo, Thinking_Waffle and yours truly shaved off an unrecoverable portion of the best weeks of our lives trying to get this thing to work. (Free cupcakes of appreciation are always welcome!)

We will be patching quite a bit this month now that the full team is available to work on the mod. For the time being our regular monthly schedule is suspended while we try to get everything running smoothly again. Thank you for your patience and for the time being, expect some chaos and hilariously frustrating moments in your modxperience. If the stress gets to be too much and you need an understanding and kind soul to listen, you can find us on Reddit or Discord[discord.gg]. Additionally, if sending us cupcakes is too complicated you can enable us to buy our own! Patreon[www.patreon.com].

As always, with love, respect and awkward bro hugs,

-Gxp

Tldr
  • This is the first patch of many.
  • Expect there to be an avalanche of bugs, content conflicts, and zesty forum comments.
  • We had to gut all of our advanced naval technologies and equipment. We will add this back later on.
  • Road to 56 is no longer compatible with mods that alter the map. We're working our own now, and will add states whenever and wherever the mood strikes.
  • Yes, there is an old version of the mod on Steam for those of you that don't want to use 1.6.
  • SpicyAlfredo is in post-patch recovery. Please send flowers.
  • Thinking_Waffle is as enigmatic as always.
  • Greatexperiment is probably on drugs. Everything is fiiiiiine.
  • You're still beautiful. Even if you leave angry comments on our Discord. :)

Also!
  • The Soviet Union has been reworked!
  • Added new state 'Gdynia'
  • Danzig Is no longer the reason you stay awake at night, wondering at the cruelty of the universe.
  • Ireland Tree Update with the Non Political branches, removed in favor of their Generic Tree counterparts. (I have no idea what this actually means)
  • All R56 Integrated Puppets now have the same color as their overlord.
  • The USA can now get Greenland without too much stress.
  • Added numerous things that resulted in even more numerous bugs. Hooray!

February Patch

Hello! We've got a whole mess of fixes for you this month. Loads of them. A veritable avalanche of tiny tweaks and long-standing annoyances resolved. There's also a bit of new content, but overall the main effort was given over to making the mod run better and fly right.

In part this is due to the oncoming hulk of Man the Guns finally approaching, soon to be unleashed by some very mad and manly Swedes. As you can imagine this event will play hell with mods both big and small, but mostly the big ones like 56. To that end we have been slowly preparing and as of this patch the full team is now dedicated to compatibility. Our main dudes on the case are Thinking_Waffle, Spicy Alfredo, and Greatexperiment.

We're making surethe game doesn't explode or immediately crash to desktop, which is something at least 9 out of 10 players agree is a very good thing. Beyond that we're debugging the hell out of the rest and praying to the Giant Baseball-Cap Wearing Mantis God that it all works out. It definitely will. Probably.

As always you can find us on Reddit or Discord[discord.gg]. If you want to. Additionally, did you know that you can throw money at us? It's true. If you enjoy making it rain currency units on the unsuspecting heads of modders, there's always Patreon[www.patreon.com].

Remember, no matter happens between us - no matter the difficulties or hardships - you're totally awesomely beautiful, and also - if you steal the last of my ice cream I will mercilessly seek revenge.

January Patch

Oh, it's you. I'm glad that we've met again, and it seems that we've survived another year somehow, despite there being far too much debauchery and alcohol this December. However, it was a near thing - and most of the team was in some sort of food coma for a lot of the month. So, our patch is patchy at best, but full of heart. True Road to 56 veterans know that the power of friendship is what's truly important. (with a few bracket errors thrown in)

Also, did you know the mod is now two years old? That's ancient for a mod. Not only that - but apparently we're the most popular lady at the dance! Honestly, it's a complete surprise to everyone. For a second year in a row we're doing really well, and for a second year in a row I must look the development team squarely in the face and solemnly say, "I'm sorry."

Maybe the entire 56 team has a special circle of hell reserved for us, or perhaps we simply had too much coffee. Life is full of mysteries - but regardless of any details...

Thank you to everyone, all of you, for being with us on this journey. We love you unconditionally, and with all of our hearts. Don't forget us, and be sure to visit us in purgatory.

...or Reddit. Maybe Discord[discord.gg] too. Whatever you have bus fare for?

-Gxp
