  • Infiltrate Army and Infiltrate Defenders can no longer be selected as starting skills. This should make it so that you always start the game with Wave of Panic if Tome of Whispers is your starting tome.

  • Updated unit modularity to fix a dramatic fps drop that would occur when some units are on screen. (This problem was introduced by some modularity changes in the Ogre Update)

  • Added Single Shot tag to unit abilities where appropriate.

  • Updated enchantments to apply Increased Effects to Single Shot attacks instead of non-repeating attacks.

  • Unit Charlatan: added Champion Beguile rank bonus: Grants the caster Astral Refuge for 1 Turn.

  • Unit Shadow Stalker: Shadow Phase can no longer target units that have the "cannot be displaced" passive.

  • Enchantment Stygian Magic: Changed from applying only to Base Attacks to work on all Attacks.

  • Siege Project Infiltrate Defenders: Reduced Fortification Damage from 2 to 0 and changed amount of units summmoned from 1 to 2.

  • Updated unit modularity for the Cutthroat Unit.

  • Added the Scoundrel, a tier II ranged unit.

  • The Black Market special province improvement now also enables the city to draft the Scoundrel Unit.

  • Cutthroats and Scoundrels now have base 90% chance to inflict a random negative status effect with Flanking attacks. (Guaranteed for Non-repeating attacks)

Rather than write up a detailed change log I think it would make more sense to provide a general summary this time around. For the full details I would recommend browsing the new screenshots or checking out the in-game encyclopedia

  • Mechanics based around exploiting the Blinded status effect have been mostly scrapped, as this is the primary theme of the official Tome of Shades. There are a couple abilities for inflicting blind left in a few places to promote some synergy with it though. The Assassin unit has also been retired to allow the Shade unit to take its place.

  • This mod's Tome of Shades has been renamed to the Tome of Darkness and given a new theme; exploiting units that are isolated and disrupting enemy positioning. The Shadow Stalker unit and Stygian Magic enchantment have been redesigned and two new tactical spells have been added.

    This tome also has the Veil of Darkness spell which was copied from the Tome of the Cold Dark. I have made a small optional mod for the Tome of the Cold Dark to replace this skill with a new one and rename the Tome to make it purely ice themed. Using this mod is entirely up to preference, both are fully functional as standalone mods.

  • The Tome of Whispers and Tome of Vice have traded places with the former moving to tier 1 and the latter to tier 2. Some of their skills have been moved around also: notably the Succubus unit has been moved to the Tome of Vice and as a replacement the Tome of Whispers now has the Lesser Shadow Stalker unit. Cutthroats are no longer available as a strategic summon, but they can be unlocked for recruitment through the Black Market special province improvement along with the new Charlatan unit.

  • Updated unit modularity for Insectoid and Syron forms.

  • Added City Tier requirements for drafted units and Wizard Tower requirements for summoned units.

  • Shadow Agent changed to an Adept hero skill (instead of Expert).

  • Reduced Shadow Form accuracy penalty to -45% (from -60%).

  • Unique Rank Bonuses are being reworked sightly to accommodate the new rank system, with the Champion rank bonuses moving to Legend rank.

  • Made some adjustments to the Lesser Shadow Stalker unit:
    • Fixed the icon.
    • Re-enabled it to spawn as a wildlife unit.
    • Slightly increased attack damage and reduced health.
    • Will now evolve into a Shadow Stalker.
    Note that as of right now the Lesser Shadow Stalker will still only be enabled for spawn sets that target a generic Magic Origin or shadow tome unit, so it can not be acquired by the player by regular means. This may change in the future

  • Ability modifiers that enable units to Flank against targets that are Blind will no longer work against units that are immune to Flanking due to Hyper-Awareness. (This includes the Floral Stinger, Watcher, and the Linked Minds transformation)
