DAC #21 (2018): Frosty Echoes
Showing 1-7 of 7 entries
Update: Dec 20, 2019 @ 6:34pm

v1.2

- The road textures in the first archaic section were changed to Nitronic Ramp textures.

- Added evil swirly particles to the end of each archaic section. Oooooooo spooky.

- Changed particles for WarpAnchors in the dev room, but you'll never see that unless you open this level in the editor using Centrifuge.

- Moved the trigger that animates the archaic mind out of place.

- For the GPS sequence outside of the Barret Co building, the car screen image was changed to the Distance logo.

- The starting GPS sequence now behaves more similarly to the sequences in Depths of Echoes, utilizing a glitch zone to make the car screen glitchy before displaying the logo and text, as well as the glitch noise. Kinda gave up on doing this to the rest. Oops.

- Music after destroying the archaic was changed to The Sentinel Can Only Watch.

- After destroying the archaic, the music slows down through the use of an InterpolateRTPC trigger.

- Music changes after hitting the endzone. It switches over to Dark Wind.

- A cinematic camera pan-out occurs after reaching the endzone, similar to Depths of Echoes.

- The level name and workshop item name now differ, so that when you subscribe to the level, the level appears as "Frosty Echoes" in-game, instead of the whole "DAC #21: Frosty Echoes." Wish I knew about that sooner.

- Speaking of name differences, all of my DAC levels will now feature the year in the workshop item name. Although I personally know which year each one was for, others may not at a glance, especially with tons of DAC maps downloaded.

- Adjusted the level image slightly. Idk why particles still aren't displaying in it.

- Added a secret shortcut via WarpAnchor.

Bug Fixes:

- Made the GPS sequence at the startzone trigger in front of the car rather than on top of it. This way it doesn't mess up in replays by activating right away since the car isn't frozen at the start in replays.

v1.12

- GPS sequence texts now utilize more line breaks, making them easier to read in close 3rd person, hood, and cockpit views, since it no longer gets cut off by the edge of the screen. This is based on feedback from players who use those aforementioned camera views.

Update: Apr 5, 2019 @ 1:56pm

v1.11

- WarpAnchors that return you to the Barett Co building now use the GZ_3_During_Warp string. This sound is the low pass warp heard on Abyss when the Archaic warps you back to the chamber.

- Changed the music that plays after destroying the Archaic back to
Observatory, from Void.

Update: Mar 16, 2019 @ 11:17am

v1.1

- Each Archaic section now uses the skybox from Echoes.

- Third Archaic section no longer uses the default snowy skybox. It uses a dark one until you pass through the quarantine field, then it's Echoes.

- Each Archaic section
has had the fog removed so it's longer blindingly red in the distance.

- Music in Archaic sections changed from
Low to Echoes. First section sets it to Beast, second to StormVoid, and the final changes it to Abandoned01 after removing some of the obstacles.

- Added a cosmetic WarpAnchor in the final section to remove obstacles in your path, indicating that you're destroying the virus a little bit. That area will turn blue. Passing through this also sets the state of Echoes to
Abandoned01.

- Changed the music that plays after defeating the Archaic from
Observatory to Void out of spite for how the music track was changed with v1.2: Nexus.

- Made the EndZone grid as invisible as possible.

Update: Dec 21, 2018 @ 11:51pm

v1.02

- Added the DisableLocalCarWarnings object as a bandaid to fix the back to track arrow showing up while in the middle of the canyon bridge and so on. Also because at this point I accept that I'm too lazy to properly set up track visualization.

Update: Dec 21, 2018 @ 7:57pm

v1.01

- Removed a couple of simples that didn't add to the environment by being out of view, and added a cosmetic trophy that's totally not a copy of the STE2 winner trophy because I'm not jealous about not getting a physical award or anything.

Update: Dec 20, 2018 @ 9:24pm

v1.0

Uploaded to Steam Workshop early, for Distance Advent Calendar 2018.
